Chardonnay Wine

Corbett Canyon sources grapes grown from some of the top wine regions around the world which produces a greater concentration of flavors. We balance our delicious fruit with a touch of oak to give the wine a classic style that people can count on bottle after bottle. 

Our Chardonnay is a medium-bodied wine with classic hints of apple, pears and toasty oak. Winemaker Description. 

Burghound | A much more floral-inflected nose freely offers up its aromas of cool and ripe pear, apple and zest. There is good richness if not quite the same density to the more finely textured middleweight flavors that conclude in a crunchy bitter lemon-tinged finale. Lovely and understated.

Allen Meadows writes:  An exuberantly spicy nose reflects notes of petrol, various citrus and white orchard fruit, in particular pear. The gorgeously textured and highly seductive medium-bodied flavors also possess fine mid-palate density before terminating in a balanced, firm and youthfully austere finale. Neal Martin writes:  The 2020 Saint-Aubin en Montceau 1er Cru is quintessentially Saint-Aubin on the nose, offering green apples, oyster shells and just a touch of petrichor, all showing wonderful delineation. The intense palate is very well balanced with fine-grained tannins and a judicious touch of spice and orange peel toward the sustained finish. Maybe it needs a little more on the aftertaste; otherwise, this is impressive... and delicious.  Drinking 2024 - 2048.  - Vinous 92-94

The Colin 2020 whites were bottled in January 2022 under the Diam brand composite cork after having been fined but not filtered. As was the case with the 2019 vintage, I was again very impressed with the quality I found and the domaine just seems to continue to go from strength to strength.

Loads of flint, ripe apples, vibrant citrus, and wet stones are amplified in a way not many others can achieve. Medium-bodied, with outstanding, balanced, ripe fruit on the palate, it has a silky texture and energetic acidity that is persistent and lasting on the palate along with clean lift. Erin Brooks writes:  The 2021 Chardonnay Cuvée Anne is purely scented of quice, beeswax and saline with accents of acacia flowers. The light-bodied palate is electric and flinty, with its deep, youthful fruit uncoiling slowly, and it has a long, shimmery finish. Clive Pursehouse writes:  A whimsically light and airy Chardonnay, a barrel selection across many of their favourite Willamette Valley sites. Aromas of white flowers, bee pollen and petrichor are accented with notes of cut green apple and peach skin. Think citrus flowers, orange meringue, salted almonds with bright acidity.
This wine is produced from the Rancho Vinedo Vineyard, planted in the Santa Maria Valley in 1973 on its own roots. It is farmed organically. The grapes are picked based on natural acidity, flavors, and visual signs in the vineyard. 

Once in the cellar the grapes are pressed, juice collected and barreled down to ferment with native yeast in old french oak barrels. The wine is aged on its lees for 17 months before being racked for the first time to bottle, unfined & unfiltered. 

Burghound 89 Points | Cool and airy aromas are comprised by notes of petrol, white flowers and citrus zest. I like the mouthfeel of the equally tension-filled and mineral-driven middle weight flavors that exhibit evident minerality on the bone-dry, liner and youthfully austere finale. This is also quite good and worth checking out. 

This taut white has an oily texture that envelops lemon oil, sweet corn and green apple skin flavors. Firm and balanced, with toasty oak and baking spice accents emerging on the finish. Drink now through 2026. Winemaker Description.

The  Wine Advocate 94 Points | Saline and graphite give way to baked apples, acacia and yogurty aromas on the 2020 Chardonnay La Rinconada Vineyard. Medium-bodied with a gentle phenolic grip, it offers bursts of refreshing acidity, mineral-driven flavors and a long, elegant finish.

Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points | Brought up in 25% new French oak, the 2020 Chardonnay La Rinconada Vineyard sports a light gold hue as well as a great nose of ripe green apple, honeyed flowers, and toasted bread. It's medium-bodied, bright, and vibrant on the palate, with a chiseled, focused style that's going to age gracefully.

Winemaker Description 

Aromas of citrus, toasted hazelnut and white flowers. Very expressive, displaying lemon confit and wet rocks while a touch of hazelnut adds charm. A full palate balanced by crisp acidity, bright, detailed and nuanced, this wine has a lot going on aromatically, while the minerally stone fruits on the palate are racy with a long finish.

100% Chardonnay from Grand Cru locations Cramant, Chouilly and Le Mesnil sur Oger.

Fresh and elegant blanc de blancs with hints of lemon, apples, grapefruit, brioche, white flowers and a seductive creaminess.

Pneumatic press, fermentation in thermo-controlled steel tanks. A portion of Prestige Brut ferments in 90 hl large French oak barrels. After vinification and storage, the wine is allowed to rest for three years on lees in the bottle before disgorging.

The wine consists of two vintages and 15% of the blend consists of perpetual reserve. The reserve for the wine is now of vintages from 2009 to 2017.

The wine has been aged for 36 months on lees in the bottle.

Pair with fish and shellfish are also excellent with the roe pizza.

Producer Description 

Kara-Tara is a joint-venture between Rüdger van Wyk (2018 Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year) and José Conde of Stark-Condé Wines. Translated from the Khoisan, the language from the first people in Southern Africa, it means “deep dark shadows” and refers to the Karatara river that runs through Rüdger’s home town, near Knysna which is located in South Africa, on the Cape South Coast, facing the Indian Ocean.

This wine has the classic notes of lemon and grapefruit you’d expect from Chardonnay, with hints of almond and a fine mineral finish.

Wine Enthusiast 94 Points | With the most upfront fruit in the Vasse Chard trio, Filius is immediately comforting in a favorite T-shirt kind of way, with bright, fleshy lime and peach blossom, a flicker of nougat and something stony, a bit salty. It flows seamlessly to a palate of mouth-watering acidity that balances the toasty oak and malolactic influences.

Wine Spectator 93 Points | Bright and expressive, with plenty of precision to the detailed notes of lemon sherbet, lemongrass, pear, lemon verbena, white pepper and green apple. Hints of tangerine, lemon oil and tarragon linger on a juicy frame.

Alain Chavy owns over 17 acres of prime vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet, including several premier crus. His winemaking reputation precedes itself with wines of class and distinction, so it comes as no surprise that the release of his 2022s have created some vinous excitement. His exquisitely styled premier cru Les Champs Gain is a tour de force effort par excellence! Elegant, precise and beautifully detailed with exquisite orchard and stone fruit aromas, delicately framed by subtle oak nuances. In the mouth, the flavors unfold with lively intensity. Layers of golden apple, lime zest and apricot emerging graciously on the palate with a quartz like mineral complexity. Perfectly balanced acidity brings harmony and purity to the lasting finish. This magnificent Puligny drinks beautifully now, living up to its high expectation, and will age gracefully for years to come.

Winemaker Description 

Alain Chavy produces restrained, structured, and long-lived white Burgundies from 17 acres of vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, with small holdings in the neighboring villages of Chassagne and Meursault. Alain established Domaine Alain Chavy in 2003 with vineyards inherited from his father and includes some of Puligny's top premier crus.

The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Champs Gains' comes from two parcels planted between 1958 and 1962. Located below 1er Cru 'Les Folatieres', 'Les Champs Gains' is more sheltered by surrounding hedges. The limestone soils are 20cm in depth which lend a particular salinity to the finished wine.

Characterised by precise acidity and notes of peach and ripe lemon, the palate displays a mineral freshness and a long intense finish.

Winemaker Description 

Observing careful cultivation and vinification techniques, Domaine Matrot wines offer purity of fruit and terroir-driven character. The beautifully textured 2021 Meursault is made from a blend of grapes from 12 different plots, which creates a classic representative of village Meursault. Allen Meadows of Burghound | ...a discreet touch of wood can be found on the pretty aromas of mineral reduction, zest and a similar floral top note. There is a bit more volume and richness to the solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that flash evident minerality on very clean, bone-dry and nicely complex and persistent finale. This is a quality Meursault villages.

Aromatically the wine is perfumed with apricots, lemon, golden apples, and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine is nutty with hints of lemon zest, orange blossoms, and a touch of honeycomb.

94 Points Wine Spectator | Fragrant, focused and precise, offering flavors of lemongrass and lemon blossoms, with Meyer lemon and green papaya accents, plus a touch of tangerine. Shows green tea, lemon balm and white pepper notes on a mouthwatering frame, with a hint of salinity that lingers.

94 Points Vinous | The 2021 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard is another dense, ample wine in this range. The Woolsey Road has a good deal of phenolic intensity. There's real breadth and resonance here. Lemon confit, white pepper and dried herbs are nicely amplified.

93 Points James Suckling | Richness and concentration are the hallmarks of this full-bodied, mouth-filling wine. Deep in Bosc pears, baked apples and baking spices, it offers a creamy texture balanced by moderate acidity.

Refreshing flavors of white peach, lively citrus, stone fruit and pear drop cascade across the palate with fleshy richness and energetic balance. There is plenty of zip and clean acidity on the long, delicious and very happy finish. Great with a wide variety of foods, but also just by itself.
