Winemaker Description

The careful selection of grapes from vineyards in Monterey, Napa and Lake Counties yields an excellent Sauvignon Blanc. This wine has great complexity and structure which balances the fruit and acidity.

Joel Gott sourced the fruit from the cool, coastal vineyards of Monterey which allow the grapes to mature slowly and develop intense citrus flavors with crisp minerality Combined with richer, more complex grapes from the sun-drenched Napa Valley, the blend evolves into a more structured, balanced wine.

Grapes from Lake County enhance the wine's acidity and heighten its tropical flavors. Together, these locales produce a wine with aromas of guava, watermelon, Meyer lemon and a long, juicy finish. Aging this well-balanced Sauvignon Blanc in stainless steel preserves the intense fruit aromas and flavors without the cloaking presence of malolactic fermentation.

Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc Les Sétilles (family garden) has become one of the most popular items in the entire Frederick Wildman portfolio. Year in/ year out this wine represents impeccable quality and unsurpassed value in the French wine category. This wine exceeds expectations of even the most discriminating of palates.

Les Sétilles is sourced from vineyards within the communes of Puligny Montrachet and Meursault, with each village representing roughly half of the final blend. Grapes are sourced from multiple plots within each village in an effort to maximize complexity of the final wine.

Vintage consistency is the goal with this wine so the blending of lots and aging technique will vary according. Roughly 60% of the wine is aged in Allier oak, only 10% of which is new. The remaining 40% of the wine is aged in stainless steel to preserve clean varietal character.

Winemaker Description 

We harvest 70% of our Chardonnay at night when the grapes are cool to retain the natural acidity, then cold ferment those lots in stainless steel, without malolactic fermentation or barrel aging, to highlight the citrus and green apple flavors. We whole-cluster press 30% of the best fruit and barrel ferment that portion in French oak barrels.

The barrel fermented lots undergo secondary malolactic fermentation and age on the lees for six to eight months to develop roundness and body.

The 2019 is a full bodied, yet well balanced Chardonnay with just a kiss of oak. There are aromas of apple, pear, pineapple, and vanilla mixed with floral notes. Hints of citrus and bright flavors of pear, apple, tropical fruits and peaches fill the glass.

This is a Chardonnay that will appeal to a broad group of wine drinkers!

Founded in 1171, Schloss Gobelsburg is one of the largest holders of “Grand Cru” vineyards in Austria.  This single vineyard Ried Heiligenstein is located on the the unique geological structure “Zöbinger Perm”, with the sandstone, silt and arkose giving the wine a unique herbed aroma with a washed-rind cheese quality. A crystalline texture with lemon grass, green apple and pear.  The acid is memorable and spicy without the tingle often found in high tension Austrian Riesling.

The Wine Advocate 96 Points |  Gobelsburg's 2020 Ried Heiligenstein 1ÖTW opens with a clear, bright and savory bouquet of sandstone, salt, ripe stone fruits and tea. Lush and round on the palate, this is a textured, very elegant and balanced Heiligenstein Riesling with a lingering, fine salinity on the highly elegant and aromatic finish. This is again an excellent, quiet and perfectly balanced Riesling from one of the greatest Riesling sites along the Danube River. The 2020 already drinks beautifully but can be aged for two or three decades. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2022. (v.2020).

This Chardonnay entices you with aromas of fresh peach, Asian pear, citrus, and honeycomb. The flavors are just as complex with delightful undertones of red pepper and Madagascar vanilla, followed by fresh lemon, green apple, wildflower honey, stone fruit, and a hint of lavender. The rich, dense texture is balanced by its juicy acidity, leading to great minerality and a long, satisfying finish.

Wine & Spirits 92 Points | Zesty reduction gives the meatier aspects of this wine a run for their money. This is generous, dynamic and cool, needing some bottle age to shed the reductive scallion notes and reveal more of its underlying complexities.(v.2021).

James Suckling 97 Points | This very concentrated and super-elegant riesling Auslese is still tightly-wound. However, it already has a very wide spectrum of subtle yellow fruit and wild flower aromas. Terrific structure behind the rich, but still medium-bodied palate. Incredibly long, slatey finish with staggering freshness that pulls you back for more of this Mosel masterpiece. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.

Decanter 95 Points | Tangs of cut stone and lime zest are peppered with gunpowder and smoke, but there's a powerful core of ripe lemon, lime and yellow cherry flavours too. While light on its feet, it's an unctuous, supple wine with a pert tangerine sweetness. Quite a bit more expressive in youth than the 2022 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese, it's already hedonistic with a brief decant but certainly ageworthy as well. 

Wine Spectator 94 Points | Delivering power and concentration, this is densely packed in a compact frame. Opens up to reveal impressively fresh flavors of dried thyme and apricot. This white's acidity shows a crunchy texture, and a wet slate note brings a cooling feel to the finish. This is one for the cellar. Best from 2026 through 2046.

Vinous 92 Points | The 2022 Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Auslese is rather shy. The palate tingles with tangerine, ripe, rounded, aromatic, and full of tangy, zesty, sweet, ripe citrus. Wonderfully expressive on the mid-palate and with a subtle finish, full of those vivid aromatics. (Sweet).

This pretty Chablis is a balanced wine that reveals a fine, fruity nose that is oriented towards citrus fruit. On the palate, the freshness and minerality of the appellation are found, as well as a hint of minerality supported by a white-flesh fruit side.

This vintage has a beautiful concentration as well as a nice balance. Produced from vines with and average age of 35 years old and aged in stainless steel tanks for 6-10 months on the lees.

Dominating the Rhône Valley from the foothills of the Mont Ventoux, Domaine Durban enjoys stunning views of the area. The wines are special too. Muscat de Beaumes de Venise is undoubtedly the best of all the Muscat wines made in Southern France, and Durban is considered the best estate. 

The wines are a pure delight with the distinctive Muscat flavors of flowers, tropical fruit and honey. The perfect dessert wine but also delicious with foie gras, melon and Roquefort cheese.

This classic Carneros Chardonnay was grown primarily on the Schug Estate vineyard, with additional barrels from the Wildcat Vineyard and Thornton Ranch. It was fermented and aged on the lees ("sur-lie") in small French Oak barrels, with judicious new oak introduced. Malolactic fermentation was not induced, allowing the wine to retain its natural acidity and varietal focus. The result is a wine that is both rich and powerful, while refreshing and elegant on the finish. It has a ripe, spicy tropical bouquet with flavors that suggest citrus, pear, and spiced apples. Located southwest of Bordeaux in the commune of Haux, Château Lamothe has crafted estate-bottled wine since the 16th century. For four generations succession was passed down on the mother’s side and since 1956 the estate has been run by the Néel-Chombart family. Over the past 60 years the family has amassed prime vineyard land which now spans 80 hectares of clay and limestone slopes on the Right Bank. Additionally, they restored the distinctive façade of the historic chateau (now pictured on all Lamothe labels) and renovated the 17th century limestone quarries into underground cellars ideal for aging.
