The Wine Spectator 93 Points | A harmonious Champagne that shows impeccable balance, with depth and focus to its flavors of white cherry, Honeycrisp apple, tangerine peel and biscuit, while retaining vibrancy and grace. A chalky underpinning comes to the fore on the creamy finish, joining delicate spice and floral accents. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. Drink now through 2030.
Vinous 93 Points | The NV Brut Collection 246 is positively stellar. It’s a terrific example of where Roederer is going with this cuvée stylistically. Brisk saline notes cut through a core of orchard fruit, mint, white pepper and slate. There are no hard angles or awkward contours. The 246 is based on 2021, an extremely tricky vintage for Champagne. Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon bumped up the percentage of Chardonnay considerably and focused on Pinots from the Montagne de Reims. About 30% of the lots underwent malolactic fermentation to soften the edges. Twenty-four percent of the wines were fermented in oak, the rest in tank. The 246 is a blend of 55% base 2021 vintage wines described above, plus 30% perpetual reserve going back to 2012 (mostly from Cumières, Vertus and Verzy) in tank and 10% young-vine juice from Cristal plots aged in cask. The final blend is 54% Chardonnay (as opposed to the more typical 44%), 35% Pinot Noir and 11% Meunier. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. More importantly, the 246 is impeccably done and absolutely delicious.
James Suckling 93 Points | This has pretty and elegant aromas of pears, apple blossoms, grapefruit and chalk. It’s silky, fresh and beautifully balanced on the palate, with very soft bubbles. Based on 2021, with reserve wine from a perpetual reserve created in 2012, plus reserve wines kept in oak from 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

The Gosset family has been established in Champagne well before 1484, when Jean Gosset was born. A century later, Pierre Gosset, alderman of Aÿ and winegrower, founded the House, which produced still wines, often red, from its own vineyards.

Argeo Prosecco Rosé has a soft pink color reminiscent of peach flowers with an abundant foam and lively, fine perlage. The bouquet of white flowers and berry fruits is enveloped by a very pleasant balsamic note of fresh rosemary leaves. Jeb Dunnuck 94 Points | Made from 60% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay and pouring a vibrant silver/yellow color, the 2018 Champagne Brut Vintage (like all these wines) was aged in stainless steel without any oak. In the glass, it opens to springy and dewy floral aromas of honeydew melon, fresh flowers, citrus blossoms, and pastry dough. Medium-bodied and inviting, it’s approachable now and takes on a more mineral character on the palate without ever feeling austere. All its components move seamlessly through the palate, with a refined mousse and a kiss of sunny feel on the finish nodding to the warmth of the vintage, but it’s clean and refined all the way through. This is going to improve with age, but it’s quite enjoyable now. Drink over the coming 15 or so years. It was made exclusively from Premier Cru and Grand Cru villages, was aged for 6 years on the lees, and saw 7-8 grams per liter dosage.

Vinous 93 Points | The 2018 Brut Vintage is absolutely delicious, just as it was last year. Floral and citrus notes give the 2018 lovely aromatic lift to play off its mid-weight personality. This is a classy, polished Vintage Champagne marked by notable brightness. Airy, elegant and silky in feel, the 2018 is an absolute delight.

The weather in 1953 was very favourable to vine growth and the crop was both plentiful and of excellent quality.
The growing season began with a warm, wet April, followed by a very warm, but dry month of May. June and July were cool and rainy, whereas August and September were dry and slightly warmer than average.
Flowering went very well in May because it did not rain very much. Even though June and July were cool, which slowed down the growth cycle somewhat, the harvest was able to begin on the 21st of September. The grapes were excellent because August and September we very dry and hot. Yields were high, but 1953 Cheval Blanc shows that quantity and quality are not incompatible.
Degree of alcohol: 12°.
This is a great vintage for Cheval Blanc. The wine is very well-balanced and still elicits enormous praise.

Vincent Cuillier Blanc de Sable Brut Nature Disgorged 2021
Antonio Galloni, VINOUS 92 : The 2021 Brut Nature Blanc de Sable is soft, understated and creamy. This is an especially finessed style of Chardonnay with no hard edges. Intensely floral aromatics meld into a core of citrus fruit. All the elements are so nicely balanced. There's so much to like. All that is missing is a bit of depth in the mid-palate. No dosage. Vinous 94: The 2018 Brut Nature Blanc de Sable, 100% Chardonnay from Cheney, is the most impressive of the five Champagnes I tasted from Vincent Cuillier. The Blanc de Sable straddles the line between Champagne and Coteaux Champenois. It has a beautiful, striking duality that works so well here. A kiss of French oak adds complexity. Like all the Champagnes here, the Blanc de Sable was bottled with no dosage, but the lack of sugar is not at all evident.
Winemaker Notes
A third cuvee, Blanc de Sable, was added as of the 2018 vintage. It is 100% Chardonnay also from Mont Agé on sandy soils with fossils, and is aged in a combination of 228 and 500-liter barrels and bottled without fining and filtration. It sees 36 months of aging sur lattes before disgorgement without sugar/dosage. The terroirs of Mont Agé and Les Voyets are somewhat atypical for the region in that they contain a uniquely high percentage of sand which produces Champagnes marked by real finesse. As Cuillier points out, there is about 1 meter of sand over a bedrock of compacted rock and sand strewn with fossils, the combination of which gives fruitiness coupled with freshness and minerality. All in all, it is a perfect terroir for producing his style of Champagnes which are wonderfully textured, nuanced, and complex and develop beautifully in the glass with some aeration.
