100% Tempranillo from our own vineyards in Rodezno and Labastoda, with an average vine age of 40 years.
Manual harvesting in boxes, with cluster selection in the vineyards. The grapes are transported refrigerated to the winery to maintain their integrity. After rigorous quality control on optical sorting tables, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation occur naturally. Two years of aging in our own American oak barrels (new the first year and four-year-old barrels the second). We perform four traditional rackings by candlelight, from barrel to barrel. Bottled in June 2023.
Intense and brilliant garnet color with a vivid ruby rim. On the nose, it stands out for its high intensity, with notes of red fruits—raspberries, wild strawberries, and redcurrants— wrapped in a marked balsamic aroma of caramel, vanilla, toffee, and roasted coffee. On the palate, it is long, balanced, and fresh, with fine and silky tannins. A long finish, where the initial balsamic and fresh red fruit aromas characteristic of Viña Alberdi reappear.
Viña Alberdi is characterised by a notable food-pairing versatility. It is an ideal companion to appetisers, snacks and barbecues, perfect with rice, pastas and stews, and great with lightly-grilled meat and fish.
Luis Gutierrez writes: The younger wine here is the 2020 Viña Alberdi, a versatile version of the Haro reds. It was produced with Tempranillo fermented in stainless steel and matured in American oak barrels for two years (it's sold as Reserva in international markets and Crianza in Spain). It has 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.6 and five grams of acidity. It has a classical nose of ripe fruit, American oak and spices, the subtle notes of forest floor, still young. Rhone meets Bordeaux in Penedes. The Cab here provides the body and power, Grenache for the florality and freshness. A cold maceration and fermentation in stainless before finishing in oak. Rich, velvety, dark berry, vanilla, baking spice, and a touch of licorice lead the way. Very generous fruit, big body, framed nicely in oak without it taking a front seat. This is the big red that will appeal to many.

Fresh and balanced in the mouth, with fine and silky tannins. Ample aftertaste that combines red fruits and spices with a fresh and long character.

Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points | The 2019 Vina Ardanza is a highly impressive, full-bodied blend of 80% older-vine Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha from two different parts of Rioja grown at the same altitude. The producer’s own American oak was used to age the Tempranillo 36 months and the Garnacha 30 months, 20% new. The fruity nose of black cherry and plum complements beautifully against Garnacha’s seductively spicy texture and mouthfeel. It’s lively, complex, and lengthy, with melty tannins.
The Wine Advocate 94 Points | No 2018 was produced, so after the 2017 I tasted last year, we jumped to the 2019 Viña Ardanza Reserva, produced with a blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha. It fermented destemmed in stainless steel and aged in American oak barrels, 36 months for the Tempranillo and 30 months for Garnacha, and was blended before bottling. 2019 is a very good year for them, a small crop of powerful and concentrated wines when they produced all their brands, an exception. This is spicy, structured, balanced and powerful in this warm year, reaching the customary 14.5% alcohol and keeping a pH of 3.54 and 5.5 grams of acidity. It's still very young and undeveloped, with the classical profile, generous in American oak aromas and flavors that should slowly integrate in the wine with years in bottle. For them, 2019 means a change in Ardanza, less spicy (but still quite spicy, with clove, vanilla and tobacco leaves) and with more fresh fruit from the Garnacha. But the year is a modern version of 2015.
Decanter 94 Points | A super-classic and great interpretation of Rioja reserva, this offers all the appealing sweet red berry fruit and American oak with serious struture and balance. Soft and inviting, this is surely a reference for reserva wines in the region. A blend of 80%Tempranillo – from two vineyards in Fuenmayor and Cenicero, northern Rioja Alta – and 20% Garnacha from Tudelilla in Rioja Oriental, a 17-day fermentation was followed by ageing in American oak barrels from the producer's own cooperage: 36 months for the Tempranillo and 30 months (in 20% new) for the Garnacha.

The Wine Advocate 94+ Points | The 2020 Rioja Reserva, their flagship wine, comes from the 300 hectares of estate vineyards. Here, Tempranillo is the backbone, making up 82% of the blend in the low-yielding vintage of 2019, complemented with 8% Graciano, 7% Mazuelo and 3% Garnacha. It has controlled ripeness at 14% alcohol, with a pH of 3.65 and 5.1 grams of acidity. I loved the aromatics here—floral and elegant, more in the style of the 2018 than the 2019. it's lighter, more elegant, fine-boned and has a silky texture and very fine tannins. Both 2019 and 2020 are very good, but 2020 is more my style. 980,000 bottles produced. It was bottled after 21 months in American oak barrels.
James Suckling 94 Points | Harmonious, textbook Rioja that shows cedar, spiced strawberries, vanilla and plums. Really polished on the palate, with fresh acidity and a linear, lengthy finish. Very subtle extraction makes this a really balanced, harmonious Rioja that’s appealing now. But the balance will help it age well for the next few years.
A palpable example of the elegance, consistency and regularity that characterize Marqués de Murrieta winery. This wine shows the incredible personality of the Ygay Estate and summarizes perfectly what happens during a whole vegetative cycle.
Its is made with tempranillo, mazuelo, Graciano y garnacha. Each variety adds its personality to obtain a balanced wine after the barrel ageing.

In September 2022, I had the pleasure of traveling to Rioja, Spain, to visit one of my favorite producers: Bodegas Perica. Located in the picturesque village of San Asensio in La Rioja Alta, Bodegas Perica has been a bastion of winemaking tradition for three generations. The winery was in the midst of harvest, and I was fortunate enough to participate—gaining firsthand insight into the rigorous grape selection process that defines Bodegas Perica’s approach.
Anyone who has experienced a wine harvest understands the backbreaking labor involved in hand-harvesting: long hours, quick reflexes, and relentless speed. Yet despite the physical demands, the reward is undeniable—gathering at the end of the day to share a hearty meal and plenty of wine with a community united by purpose and passion.
David García Ábalos, the current owner of Bodegas Perica, and Zigor Cornago García, Director of Commerce, graciously gave me a personal tour of the winery, cellar, and production facilities. Perica stands out for using only estate-grown grapes from its own vineyards—a true commitment to quality and terroir. The winery also ages its Crianzas in 225-liter French oak barrels, and notably, many of its wines undergo extended aging beyond the minimum requirements set by the Rioja DOCa.
Founded in 1912 by Don Juan García, Bodegas Perica now cultivates over 150 hectares of vineyards in the prestigious Rioja Alta subregion, known for producing some of the finest expressions of Tempranillo.
This visit was especially meaningful to me, as it culminated in a tasting straight from the barrel to select the next wine for a private label project with 67Wine. After exploring a range of vintages and barrels, I ultimately chose the 2020 vintage. For me, it hit all the right notes—vibrant fruit, layered aromas, balanced structure, integrated tannins, and just the right touch of acidity. This wine is layered with nuances of tobacco, perfectly matured red fruit and a touch of vanilla.
This superb Crianza, aged for up to 16 months in barrel followed by further aging in bottle, overdelivers in both quality and value. It drinks more like a Reserva—a testament to the exceptional fruit quality grown in Vina Olagosa in La Rioja Alta and to the meticulous work of Bodegas Perica winemaking team.

Nose: Enticing aromas of red and black fruit: strawberries, raspberries, black cherry and blackberry. Subtle hints of tobacco, cedar, and vanilla.
Taste: Medium-bodied with great balance. Acidity, tannins and alcohol are all in harmony to create a superb palate experience. Black cherry, Strawberries and raspberries carry on intermingling with notes of tobacco, dried mushrooms and a touch of eucalyptus.
Finish: On target finish! Clean and pleasant with long lasting mouthfeel. Pair with Steaks, Tuna, Poultry, BBQ and Burgers.

Mike DeSimone of the Wine Enthusiast writes 93 Points | This deep ruby-colored wine has a nose of raspberry jam, cocoa butter, and herbs de Provence. It is bright at first sip, with raspberry, red currant, toffee, milk chocolate, and aniseed flavors. Vivid acidity and luxurious tannins stroll hand in hand to a satisfying finish.
It is very full in the mouth with a splendid bubbly sensation that fills the whole palate. Red fruit also appears, even more markedly in the nose. Long finish and great elegance.
Garnacha
Fermentation and maceration of the grapes for more than three weeks. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle and it is kept for more than one year in the cellar.
Recommended Serving Temperature: 6ºC
Clear red and pinkish tones. Small bubbles are gently released to form various strings that rise to the surface.
It has a gentle fragrance with smells of fruits, raspberry and blackcurrant. Also noticeable are the tertiary aromas of the ageing on the lees which give it more wine-like and syrupy features.
It is very full in the mouth with a splendid bubbly sensation that fills the whole palate. Red fruit also appears, even more markedly in the nose. Long finish and great

A elaboration that starts from a cold maceration, fermentation at low temperature and subsequent aging on lees of 4 months that lead us to a Galician white wine of excellent expression.
After a selection, the grapes are despressed and a cold maceration of the grapes previously refrigerated are carried out. Once the macerator's bleeding to get the tear must, the rest is pressed very softly and slowly in a pneumatic press. its fermentation is in stainless steel tanks for approximately 60-70 days. After fermentation, it stays for 4 months with the fine lens in the stainless steel tank.
Bright straw yellow color of medium-high intensity. The aromas of bone fruit and white flowers predominate. It shows a powerful, balanced, complex and fresh mouth displaying an attractive harmony of flavors.
Pair very well with roasted zamburiña on truffled potato or steamed drinks and lime.
Winemaking process
Hand-harvested with fruit selection in the vineyard. Destemming and pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature for 6 hours. Fermentation in stainless steel below 20°C. Aged for 4 months on fine lees with weekly periodic rackings
Tasting Notes Attractive bright pale yellow color with a steely rim, fluid and regular legs. The nose is subtle and delicate, revealing varietal aromas of white flowers, white fruits, citrus, and aniseed notes. On the palate, it is rich and fresh with good balance, featuring vibrant acidity that leads to a very pleasant and prolonged bitter finish.
Deep and brilliant crimson color. It is a very intense wine with a powerful yet delicate nose. It offers all the characteristics of its incredible complexity: noble wood, lightly spiced, with hints of vanilla and cocoa against a background of dark fruit, touches of licorice and woodland, giving this wine personality and elegance.
Very expressive on the palate, full-bodied and refined, with delicious flavors of berries laced with toasty notes. It's a very classy wine.
Oscar Garcia Moncada 67Wine.com | 67 Wine Somm Series Cava Gran Reserva 2018 Guarda superior is a blend of the three white grape varietals traditionally used in El Penedes for the production of Cava: Macabeo, Parellada and Xarel.lo.
The three grape varieties are fermented separately and the wine undergoes Traditional method production and then aged 48 months sur lattes.
Varieties: 70% of Xarel.lo, 20% of Macabeu and 10% of Parellada
The three grape varieties are fermented separately and then the wine do the second fermentation in the bottle like the method Champenoise in the CAVA aging more than 48 months.
Recommended Serving Temperature: 6oC
Aspect: Pale straw yellow in color. Brilliant appearance with constant release of fine bubbles forming a crown on the surface of the glass.
Aroma: Has the special aroma from the second fermentation in the bottle and evolution in the cellar. Extremely fine and fresh. An aroma from the ageing process that gives it a personality of its own like croissants, almonds, white fruit, salinity and minerality.
Taste: Still conserves the varietal flavors mingled with those of the ageing process to achieve a perfect balance. It is fine on the palate with a certain rejuvenating acidity producing a pleasant and extremely harmonious combination.
A fairly long finish in the mouth. The bubbles are very small and delicate and It’s very elegant.
Food and wine pairing:
It’s perfect with tapas, with sea food, fish, cheeses, chicken, white meat and dry desserts.
Winemaker Notes
The Canals Canals family elaborated this rosé cava with the red grape varieties Pinot noir 85% and Garnatxa 15%, following the Traditional Method, secondary fermentation of wines in the bottle and aged on lees for over 24 months on lees in our cellars.

Made using the traditional method developed in Champagne, this terrific Parés Baltà Pink Cava is quite stunning, and it is by far the best rosé Cava we've tasted for the price. Luis Gutiérrez writes: The 2013 Viña Bosconia Reserva even in a cooler and rainier year, like 2013, has a rounder body and still 13.5% alcohol. They also insisted that "remember that we can use 15% of wine from another vintage, and perhaps we topped this one up with wine from 2015. We want consistency year after year." This matured in barrels for five years and was bottled unfiltered but fined with egg whites. It's expressive, elegant and subtle, clean and complex, with polished tannins and very good acidity (pH 3.3 and 6.7 grams of tartaric acid per liter of wine). 70,000 bottles produced. Vina Bosconia comes from the 15ha El Bosque vineyard on the banks of the river Ebro at an altitude of 465m, one km away from the Haro winery. The vines here are planted on the south-facing foothills of the Sierra Cantabria. The soil is a mixture of clay and limestone, with an average vine age of 40 years. The blend is Tempranillo (80%), Garnacha (15%) with Mazuelo (aka Carignan) and Graciano making up the balance. The wine aged in barrel for 5 years, being racked twice a year.
Viña Bosconia Reserva 2013 unveils an aromatic palette where ripe red fruits such as cherries and plums are prominent, interwoven with hints of vanilla and spices. On the palate, its elegance is manifested in a smooth and rounded texture, with fine tannins that lead to a long and lingering finish. Gulp Hablo is the dream of three brothers, Francisco, Javier and Luis Parra. The hope was to celebrate their home of La Mancha by raising organically and biodynamically grown grapes. The winemaker behind Friend and Farmer and Hand Work is the same person making Gulp/Hablo.
This chillable red is a co-fermented blend of 5 organic/biodynamically grown grapes. It is soft, bright, light-bodied, refreshing, and fruit forward. Chill a bottle and sip it by the pool or on tar beach for a enjoyable summer afternoon. It will also pair well with roasted vegetables and grilled seafood.
On the nose, it is straightforward and clean, with intense fruity aromas of blackberry, red currant, and banana. The wine is fresh and lively on the palate, very pleasant and long, leaving intense memories of red fruit.
