The Lombardo family has been producing the finest premium Marsala wines for over 100 years. This long tradition was started in 1881 by Giuseppe Lombardo Maltes, the founder of KIN Lombardo fu Giuseppe C. Giuseppe Lombardo was a man of boundless dreams and enthusiasm, and a resourceful shipbuilder.

His sole objective was to produce the best Marsala Wines and to utilize his sailing ships to export his delicious and high quality wines to other countries. His dream came true and today many people from Europe, Australia, Japan, Iceland, Hong Kong, the Canaries, South Africa, and the United States are enjoying Lombardo Wines.

The Fratelli Lombardo winery is located in the city of Marsala, Sicily. The property consists of over 215,300-sq. ft. and it has the capacity to produce about 4,600,000 liters of wine, of which 1,300,000 liters are in wood casks. Aside from Marsala Wines, the house produces aromatized wines such as Cremovo, and Crema Mandorla, and liquor wines such as Malvasia, and Zibibbo.

Producer Description 

The red grape varieties Garnatxa and Samso from Els Guillamets vineyards are the base for the Siana Terrer 2022.

On the nose it presents an intense and elegant aroma of ripe red fruit and jam, with hints of anise, delicate touches of new oak and mineral notes. Palate: In the mouth is well-rounded, pleasant, lingering and powerful. Long finish which brings out its special spicy character.

Gastronomy: Recommended with any white or red meats (fowl, wild game, stews, roast lamb, beef...),with stewed legumes and cured and blue cheeses.

Winemaker Description 

Aromatic and elegant expression of an otherwise deep and dark flavored grape. Delicious aromas of flowers, red berries and black cherries, shadowed by notes of orange peel, spices and earth. Supple on the palate with silky tannins and a refreshingly mineral finish.

It has a bright ruby ​​color with the grip of the fine tannins and an herbal touch that provides freshness.

The Wine Advocate 92 Points by Luis Gutierrez | The affordable white 2023 Blanco 2º Año was produced with 70% Viura, 25% Tempranillo Blanco and equal parts of Garnacha Blanca and Malvasía. It fermented with selected yeasts, and only one-third of the volume matured in untoasted French oak barrels for five months, while the majority was kept in concrete. It's balsamic and has a medicinal touch, hints of bay leaf, fennel and yellow fruit and flowers. It has a moderate 13% alcohol and nice balance, keeping the freshness, poise and primary character.



Vinous 91 Points by Joaquin Hidalgo | The 2023 Blanco 2º Año hails from Rioja Alta. A blend of Viura and Tempranillo Blanco, it aged in barrels and concrete. Golden in hue, it opens with a creamy profile, subtle oxidative notes and a touch of dried pear. On the palate, it’s broad and grippy, with a nutty, saline finish. The 2023 is a potent white.

Winemaker Description 

From a historic, family-owned, boutique winery smack dab in the hotbed of La Rioja, Haro.  Now operated by the Baños family (since 2004), wines are created from a mix of terroirs in Rioja Alta and Alavesa where high-alt. bush vines thrive.
Aged partly in French oak barrels and concrete tank on the lees, this is a well-balanced, textured blanco – citrus and mineral, juicy and bright. 

Winemaker Description

Celler Bàrbara Forés is a woman owned and operated winery located in the Terra Alta region of Catalonia, Spain. It was founded on the principles of agroecology and is known for its commitment to producing high-quality wines while respecting the environment. Uniting the efforts of three women, the winery's philosophy is rooted in sustainable viticulture and the unique terroir of the Terra Alta The wine is made with Morenillo from a single estate that has partly sandy soil but mostly a loamy texture. When the grapes have been manually harvested, they ferment in contact with the skins. Maceration lasts 21 days. After pressing, fermentation continues in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature.

The wine is then aged for 9 months in clay amphoras.With the name Bàrbara Forés, the marriage of Carmen Ferrer and Manuel Sanmartín wanted to pay tribute to their great-grandmother Bárbara Forés, who was born in Gandesa on February 7, 1828. Bárbara Forés, the daughter of a wine merchant (Rafael Forés) and an agricultural owner (Maria Figueras), was a person of great character and had a decisive influence on her son Rafael.

Rafael Ferrer Forés, a pharmacist and illustrious winegrower, constructed the cellar of the manor house where he began bottling wine at the end of the 19th century. Bárbara Forés, therefore, represents respect and tradition in the production of wines, passed down from generation to generation for more than a hundred years in their house.

An organic xarel·lo wine with minimum intervention.
 
From the flagship variety of the Penedès, the xarel-lo, comes this organic single-varietal wine. Calcari brings together the purest and most sincere expression of this ancestral variety, native to our territory and strongly rooted in our winemaking tradition.

Its characteristics give it great versatility, making it a variety suitable for the production of long-aged sparkling wines or wines with minimal intervention such as Calcari, a wine that allows us to see its great expressive capacity and its mineral characte. 

50% Xarello , 30% Macabeo, 20% Parellada - Methode traditionnelle. The grapes are picked by hand and all winery work (from pressing and fermenting the grapes with “Kosher for Passover” yeasts, to filtering, cold stabilization, fining and bottling, are carried out by a rabbi. A harmonious Cava with good body. Notes of exotic fruits, small and delicate bubbles and a long and delicious lingering finish.

Producer Description 

Medium deep amber colour. Rather fruity nose of prune, fig with earl grey tea and candied orange. Rather sweet palate with a creamy texture, some nutty complexity, and rather long finish.

Tio Pepe Fino Sherry is a star bright, pale golden color. It is elegant and distinctive, with fresh bread and almond aromas. The palate is full bodied, crisp and very dry, with a complex, long finish.

Perfect with canapes and tapas, Asian food, seafood and all fish based dishes. Try it with caviar, oysters, anchovies or tuna carpaccio. Winemaker Description.

James Suckling 90 Points | This is the prototypical fino sherry with all the salty and yeasty character you expect. Also dried-apple, pear and lemon-zest character. Generous, but very dry and salty on the palate with a refreshing touch of austerity. Where are the olives? Drink now, if possible from a freshly opened bottle. 

Winemaker Description 

Lovely straw yellow colour with a steely green tint. Intense aromas and flavors such as green apples, grapefruit, lemon zest and lychees. Elegant and full-bodied with a long and complex finish.

This amber-colored wine is a bit cloudy. Guava, quince and jasmine aromas prepare the palate for Valencia orange, lime juice and yellow-currant flavors that remain energetic on the tongue from first sip to lingering finish.

Perfect to accompany grilled seabass or smoked fish.

The Wine Enthusiast by Mike DeSimone 94 Points | This deep garnet-colored wine has a nose of black currant, sage leaf and cherry pipe tobacco. It is smooth at first sip and then bold tannins settle in and coat the tongue and gums. Blackberry, raspberry, cocoa powder, crème brûlée and orange zest flavors are accompanied by a note of butterscotch that endures on the palate.

James Suckling 92 Points | Spicy oak to the fresh blackberries with some vanilla, smoke, walnut and dried orange peel. Chewy and pretty tannic with juicy fruit on the tight, medium- to full-bodied palate. Long and grippy finish. Needs at least two years to come around. Better from 2025.

Winemaker Description

100% Tempranillo. D.O. Penedes. Fermented on the skins for 15 days, this wine is then barrel aged for 12 months before bottling. Medium bodied with a smooth palate, aromas of red fruits and a touch of toast from the oak.

The Kosher winemaking process: the stainless steel fermentation tanks are filled with water, emptied and re-filled every 24 hours over a 3 day period. Each tank is sealed and stamped twice with a “Kosher” emblem. The grapes are picked by hand and all winery work (from pressing and fermenting the grapes with “Kosher for Passover” yeasts, to filtering, cold stabilization, fining and bottling, are carried out by a rabbi.

The Taanug wines (“Taanug” means “pleasure” in Hebrew) are made by Bodegas Pinord – the name means “Pine from the North”. The winery has over a hundred years of winemaking experience in the Penedès region of north-eastern Spain. Combining traditional methods inherited from their ancestors and state-of-the-art technology, the Tetas family produces wines and cavas that are recognized for their quality. They own 60 hectares of vineyards in Penedes, and also buy grapes from their cousins. During the last few years, they started to make wines in other appellations of Spain.

Farming/vinification practices: the grapes are grown organically. The wines are vegan.

Winemaker Description 

A Clàssic Penedès made with Pinot Noir and Garnatxa. Versitile with food, ideal as an appetizer. Aromas of herbs and fresh flowers combined with a background of perfectly fresh red fruit. In the mouth, it is refreshing but at the same time has the complexity of a sparkling wine aged for 15 months.

James Suckling 90 Points | Plums, strawberries, nutmeg and cedar on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, fine and lightly spicy on the palate.

Winemaker Description 

A deep, cherry red color with a bright garnet edge. Complex on the nose with distinct aromas of cherry and raspberry and threads of rosemary and thyme. This Crianza is full of fresh, ripe berry fruit flavors with hints of sweet baking spices. Full-bodied with a long, balanced finish.

The perfect accompaniment to roasts, chargrilled chops, cured meat and mature cheeses.

Earthy aromas of black cherry and cranberry with subtle smoky overtones. The palate shows flavors of juicy black raspberry and mulberry with hints of bramble and herb. The finish is long and mineral-tinged.

The Wine Spectator 90 Points |  fragrant overtone of eucalyptus, iron, clove and resin is enmeshed with flavors of macerated raspberry and cranberry, singed orange peel and black olive on the palate of this fresh red, trimmed by taut, sinewy tannins.

Michael Schachner of The Wine Enthusiast 89 Points | A cloudy brown color along with nutty, slightly fiery aromas of caramel and cocoa open this aggressive oloroso with somewhat sharp acidity. A narrow flavor profile includes toffee, mushroom and orange peel, while saltiness drives a tannic finish.

Winemaker Description 

Straw yellow crystalline colour. Intense terpenic notes, floral (orange blossom and jasmine) and citrus (orange peel, lime) aromas. In the mouth it is full and oily, with a good acidity that balances it and augurs a good ageing. It leaves a pleasant aftertaste of sweet citrus fruits.

The cool microclimate of our gewürztraminer vineyard, located on the highest peaks of the Penedès, allows us to bring the full aromatic potential of this famous variety to the glass, while the sun of the Penedès allows the grapes to fully ripen to achieve a full, smooth palate.

Gewürztraminer is a grape variety originating from the cool alpine slopes of Trentino-Alto Adige in north-eastern Italy. It is a cold-adapted grape variety, which at Parés Baltà we grow at an altitude of over 600 metres above sea level, in one of the coolest microclimates in the Penedès.

Expert Review - Vintage 2022 

Luis Gutierez of The Wine Advocate writes 92 Points | The white 2022 Terroir Històric Blanc is the regional wine that blends grapes from nine different villages, 75% Garnacha Blanca and 25% Macabeo from different soils, slate, clay, granite and alluvial. The bunches fermented for three to five days in stainless steel, and the wine matured in stainless steel for six months. It has 13% alcohol and mellow acidity, 4.5 grams. It has a spectacular nose that is very expressive, aromatic, clean and open with pungent notes of pollen and beeswax. It's juicy, round and clean with persistent and pungent flavors, not very high in acidity, eminently Mediterranean. Really impressive.

Expert Review - Vintage 2022 

The Wine Advocate 95 Points | I often find a savory quality in the Malvasía de Sitges, a salty sensation reminiscent of food (chicken broth), that I also found in the 2022 Blau Cru, their Malvasía de Sitges bottling, a wine with ripeness, 13.25% alcohol, a pH of 3.09 and close to nine grams of acidity (tartaric). It's something incredible in the Mediterranean climate and especially in the warm and dry 2022. The grapes can ripen a lot more, but they avoid the topicality and achieve the saline character of the wine, which has a sharp and austere, chalky palate with that tasty, umami-driven finish. This comes from a vineyard they planted in 1996. 7,991 bottles and 103 magnums were produced. It was bottled in May 2023.

Pale straw in colour. The bouquet shows all the hallmarks of a great Albariño. Refreshing vibrant acidity which is balanced by a smooth body and long finish. Sacabeira spends one year on lees, developing aromas of brioche and toast, with flavours of ripe apples and pears on the clean finish.

La Comarcal Viticultores Ambulantes DelMoro Tinto 2023 is a red wine with a surprising Mediterranean profile. On the nose, it boasts aromas of red fruits such as strawberries and cherries. On the palate, it is juicy and flavorful, with a velvety texture and a dry, lingering finish. Easy to drink and suitable for all consumers, wine lovers or not. Its quality-price ratio is excellent, offering a fluid and balanced profile.

Tinto is a Mediterranean red with great freshness and balance, and afruit- driven, approachable palate perfect for just about any food pairing.

Decanter 95 Points | Elegant and inviting, with layers of dark bitter chocolate, burnt orange and barley sugar leading on to a lush, rich palate of toffee, caramel and espresso. Wine Enthusiast 93 Points | A smooth nose deals typical P.X. aromas of chocolate, fig and raisin. On the palate, this is thick and a touch chewy but that's not abnormal for this type of wine. Rich flavors of café mocha and chocolate finish long, sweet and satisfying.

Wine Spectator 93 Points | Thick and oily in feel, with buckwheat honey, toasted sesame, prune and date flavors forming the core. A Christmas pudding note pervades the exotic finish.

Nectar is a young PX showing rich aromas of fresh fruit such as raisins and hints of honey, syrup and fruit preserve. On the palate it is velvety and smooth with good acidity with alleviates the sweetness. Perfect with desserts such as vanilla ice cream, black chocolate and cheesecake.

An attractive maroon colour with a ruby edge. The bouquet offers elegant balsamic notes with a highly complex spiciness, in addition to hints of ripe dark fruit and a slight aroma of toast. In the mouth it is well-rounded and velvety, with a hint of toast at the end that provides a pleasant finish.

A superb choice to accompany game, roast meat, stews, very mature cheeses and seasonal wild-mushroom dishes.

The Wine Advocate 94 Points | The pale and bright ruby-colored 2022 Colleita nº10 Tinto is more ethereal and elegant, with a more perfumed nose than the 2021 vintage, despite being a warmer and riper year. It's more reductive, quite complete and elegant, lighter, with a touch of volatility that lifts it up. This feels very young, and it's sharp and balanced. It's tasty, almost salty, a red for food. They produced some 8,000 bottles this year.

Appearance : Opaque red-black. Scarlet rim. Aroma: Initially closed. The wine opens to an amalgam of minerals and unctuous super-ripe berries. Palate : Deep, rich and ripe. Origin Alella, Catalunya.

Varieties 100% Pansa Blanca

From 7 vineyards around Alella, all planted on Saulò (granitic sand) aty 120-300m. The vines were planted between 1939 and 1998.

Vinification Method The grapes were harvested by hand and half were destemmed and crushed by foot, then left to macerate on the skins for 3-4 days; the other half were destemmed, left whole, and macerated on the skins for 9 days. The two parts were pressed and finished fermentation in stainless steel tanks and fiberglass, then rested for 11 months on
the lees in the same vessels. 

Bottled without fining, filtering, or added sulfur. Oriol Artigas, an Alella native and trained enologist, started his project of making non- interventionist wines in 2011. His over-arching philosophy is to “cultivate the vineyards in the most natural and least interventionist way possible, to allow the grapes to express in the most intense way the landscape from which they come.”

He works about 12 hectares in total, mostly of old vines. He allows vegetation to grow between the vines, prunes very little, and works the vineyards primarily along the lunar calendar. In the winery, fermentations are completely spontaneous, aging is primarily done in steel vats, and sulfur is never used at any point in his process. The vineyards of Alella are essentially the vineyards of Barcelona, located just north of the city along the coast of the Mediterranean. 

The primary soil type is a kind of white granite, locally called Sauló, and the main grape grown here is Pansa Blanca (the local clone of Xarel- lo) with a whole slew of other grape varieties inter-planted as well.

Winemaker Notes

A CLASSIC, AMIABLE CASK-FERMENTED WHITE WINE CHARACTERISED BY ITS ELEGANT NOTES

The strength of all that is traditional. Produced by the white grape variety that is most characteristic of the Rioja region. Its classic composition means that it can be drunk immediately or laid down for later. A wine that typifies our region A very Riojan white wine.

It remains over its own lees for a minimum of three months in Central European acacia and French and American oak barrels. Each of these contributes its own aromas and fragrances. To taste it is to experience the impact of freshness alongside beautifully elegant notes. It is a wine that is both rich and smooth.

VARIETIES: Viura 100%.

Fermented on its own fine lees in new French Allier, American Missouri and Central European Acacia oak barrels. After fermentation it was kept in the barrels in the presence of the lees for three months.

TASTING NOTES: Pale greenish yellow colour with slight oak highlights. On the nose, the subtle fragrance of toasted oak is perceived on a honeyed background of fresh fruit, seasoned with the peculiar aroma of ripe banana provided by the acacia. On the palate it offers a fresh and acidic entry, combined with the slight taste nuance of oak, under which the caramel sensation persists.
