Hartford Court CHARDONNAY Russian River Valley 2023 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2023
James Suckling 94 points | This plush, full-bodied wine shows ripe lemons, golden apples, yellow peaches and green mangoes with creme brulee and pleasant crushed-almond flavors. The finish carries baking spices and creaminess.
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points | Another appellation wine, the 2023 Chardonnay Russian River Valley is a bright golden yellow color and offers notes of poached yellow apples, toasted spice, almond, chamomile, and lemon curd. The palate is full-bodied and elegant, as is characteristic of this vintage, and has an even and floating feel on the finish. It’s ripe and has a more pithy texture, but it’s well-detailed and more immediate. Well-suited for restaurants.
The Wine Advocate 91 Points | The 2023 Chardonnay Russian River Valley is composed of fruit from Hartford Court's estate vineyards plus purchased fruit. Barrel-fermented and matured for eight months in 21% new oak, it has soaring scents of yellow peach, grapefruit, panna cotta, orange blossoms and honey. The full-bodied palate balances concentrated citrus and saline flavors with vibrant acidity, and it has a long, energetic finish.
Memo Summary Notes
The Hartford Court Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2023 is a quintessential expression of Sonoma's cool-climate Chardonnay. Hartford Court is renowned for its high-personality, site-specific wines, and this "appellation" bottling combines fruit from several elite estate vineyards to create a balanced, luxurious profile.
2023 was a cooler, long growing season in Sonoma, which allowed for exceptional flavor development while maintaining vibrant acidity and a slightly lower alcohol profile than warmer years.
The wine’s richness and acidity make it a perfect match for buttery lobster, seared scallops, roasted chicken with herbs, or creamy mushroom pasta. It also pairs beautifully with soft cheeses like Brie or Delice de Bourgogne.

Domaine Jacques Prieur Beaune Greves BLANC 1er Cru 2021 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2021
Burghound | A much more floral-inflected nose freely offers up its aromas of cool and ripe pear, apple and zest. There is good richness if not quite the same density to the more finely textured middleweight flavors that conclude in a crunchy bitter lemon-tinged finale. Lovely and understated.
Domaine Jacques Prieur Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes 2021 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2021
Burhound 92-94 Points | An elegant, pure and ultra-fresh nose offers up notes of lilac, rose petal, white peach, tea and citrus zest. There is a markedly more refined mouthfeel to the utterly delicious and highly seductive medium weight flavors that are more precise, all wrapped in a citrusy, impressively persistent and youthfully austere finale. This is very classy and I particularly like the underlying tension and balance that should also permit this beauty to age effortlessly over the next 12 to 15 years. In a word, excellent.

Martin Woods Chardonnay Koosah Vineyard Eola-Amity Hills 2022 750ml (Pre-Sale - ETA - Thursday March 19, 2026)
Expert Review
97 - International Wine Cellar: "The 2022 Martin Woods ‘Koosah’ Chardonnay from the Eola-Amity Hills dazzles with a glimmering light lemon core and a watery rim. Aromatically, it reveals spiced apples, damp earth, a hint of saline, green melon, and subtle notes of white tea. This Chardonnay carries a beautiful structure with a touch of tannins that kiss the gums, which suggests it will only improve with time. The mid-palate offers perfect acidity and balanced sweetness, leading to a long, fruit-forward and saline-infused finish. An outstanding bottle that’s poised for an even brighter future. Highly recommended and editor’s choice."
95 - Decanter: "The Koosah is a bolder Chardonnay choice in the Martin Woods portfolio. The floral quality of its aromas balances the somewhat rich mouthfeel of its medium—to full-body palate. With that said, it maintains a vibrant energy and nice overall structure - balanced acidity - featuring notes of stone fruits, crispy apples, lemon peel, and herbs. There is a phenolic structure and a rich texture. This wine nails both. Winemaker Evan Martin is a huge fan of the Koosah site, ‘I think it is the greatest Chardonnay vineyard in the Willamette Valley.’"
96 - Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Chardonnay Koosah Vineyard is a bright yellow/silver color and is a touch more shy at this stage, with notes of smoky earth, white peach, lemon oil, and a white floral tone. Medium to full-bodied, it has lovely richness without weight and has exceptionally focused length. Drink 2025-2037.”
Winery Notes
Lemon oil, green & gold apple, moss, white flower & minerals—remarkable texture and tension between fruit, minerality & acidity—medium weight, while possessing weightlessness—finish lingers with persistent freshness & a note of salinity—our 'Puligny'—this is Oregon 'grand cru' chardonnay to enjoy now or cellar 15+ years
Antinori Napa Valley A26 Chardonnay 2022 750ml (Pre-Sale - ETA - 03/13/26)

Notes of white peach, Meyer lemon, and marzipan emerge from the glass of this bright and fresh Chardonnay. The exquisite balance between texture and acidity invites subsequent tastes. This wine is medium to full bodied with acidity that gives the wine youth and energy. The finish lingers on the palate with hints of honeysuckle and cream.

Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay Napa Valley White Label 2022 750ml
Explore Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay Napa Valley
Winemaker Description
This profound and powerful Chardonnay exhibits a rich, complex intensity that can only be found in unfiltered wines. The grapes are predominantly grown in the Carneros region where bay breezes and morning fog combine to create the cooler climate ideal for growing Chardonnay rich with concentrated flavors.
The single square mile of hillside pioneered by Peter Newton in 1977 is an impressive site, with expansive vistas of Napa Valley and beyond. It was the conclusion of his irreverent quest to create wines that would capture the multifaceted character of Napa: embracing the radiant California sun whilst featuring the structure offered by the valley's cool, foggy nights.
He understood Spring Mountain was the place he was looking for to create this rare, fresh expression of Napa. The terraced mountain estate has less than one-fifth of its total 490 acres planted to vines at elevations ranging from 500 to 1,600 feet above sea level.
The non-farmed acreage remains in its native forested state providing natural habitat for indigenous wildlife.
Memo Summary Notes
The 2022 Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay (Napa Valley) is a benchmark for the "unfiltered" style in California—a technique Newton pioneered in the early 1980s. This wine is prized for its texture and complexity, which comes from bottled-in sediment that would normally be stripped away by filtration.
The "White Label" is the standard Napa Valley Unfiltered bottling. It sits above their entry-level "Skyside" line but below the ultra-premium "Single Vineyard" series (like the Beckstoffer Carneros Lake). It is widely considered one of the best value-to-quality ratios in luxury Napa Chardonnay.
Unique Winemaking Approach
Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay embodies a unique winemaking philosophy that emphasizes the true essence of the vineyard. By employing small-batch techniques and avoiding filtration, the wine retains its natural flavors and complexities. The result is a vibrant and rich Chardonnay that showcases the terroir of Napa Valley. This method is not only environmentally friendly but also allows the wine to express its authentic character.
Tasting Notes
This exquisite Chardonnay offers a delightful palate with notes of fresh pear, green apple, and hints of tropical fruits. The creamy texture is complemented by a subtle oak influence, providing depth without overwhelming the palate. You'll appreciate the wine's balanced acidity that leads to a lingering finish, making it perfect for pairing with seafood, poultry, or enjoyed alone.
Food Pairing and Serving Suggestions
Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay is incredibly versatile and pairs well with a variety of dishes. For optimal enjoyment, serve it slightly chilled at 50-55°F. It complements grilled salmon, creamy pasta dishes, and even light salads exceptionally well. This wine is an excellent choice for both casual gatherings and special occasions, ensuring it meets the varied tastes of all wine enthusiasts.

Vincent Girardin Saint Romain Les Vieilles Vignes 2021 750ml
Winemaker Description
Volnay combines breeding with nobility, delicacy, elegance, and femininity. A delicate violet and berry fragrance. One of the finest representatives of the Côte de Beaune. The Volnay is in the Côte de Beaune what the Chambolle-Musigny is in the Côte de Nuits. A feminine wine which is one of the only Burgundy Pinot Noirs you can already enjoy and drink when young.
Memo Summary Notes
The 2021 Vincent Girardin Saint Romain "Les Vieilles Vignes" is a standout example of why Saint Romain is often called Burgundy's "best-kept secret." Because the vineyards sit at a higher elevation than their famous neighbors in Meursault, they produce wines with a signature bracing freshness and vivid minerality.
The "Vieilles Vignes" (Old Vines) label indicates that the grapes come from vines averaging 50+ years old, which adds a layer of concentration and depth that younger vines simply can’t match.
Dr. Konstantin Frank Chardonnay 2023 750ml
Winemaker Description
The 2024 Dr. Konstantin Frank Chardonnay is bright and energetic, showcasing a harmonious balance of fruit and oak influence. On the nose, ripe nectarine and apricot aromas mingle with hints of acacia flowers, offering a fresh and vibrant bouquet. The palate reveals layers of elegance, with undertones of chamomile tea adding complexity and finesse.
A gentle touch of vanilla and sweet spice enhances the wine’s creamy texture, leading to a smooth finish accented by a nuttiness. Refined yet lively, this Chardonnay beautifully captures the Finger Lakes’ cool-climate character.
Pair the 2024 Chardonnay with seafood finished in a light lemon butter sauce or herb-and-citrus glaze, as well as roast chicken or turkey with fresh herbs and a creamy pan sauce.
Its balanced texture and acidity also complement grilled autumn vegetables, nutty cheeses, and Marcona almonds, and it pairs beautifully with both creamy and sharp cheeses.
Chardonnay was one of the first three varieties planted by Dr. Frank, alongside Riesling and Pinot Noir, in 1958. What makes this wine especially compelling is the old block of Chardonnay from which it is sourced.
Thanks to Dr. Frank’s viticultural expertise and international connections, grape cuttings were sourced from across North America and Europe. Through a relationship in Quebec (and long before modern quarantine regulations), Dr. Frank personally the transported cuttings, leveraging his fluency in French to bring them across the border.
Today, it is widely believed that this vineyard block originates from Burgundy-derived clones, which were propagated in Dr. Frank’s nursery for decades, up until the mid-1990s. Throughout the Finger Lakes, stories still circulate of wineries proudly saying they planted a “Dr. Frank Chardonnay clone” - a testament to the lasting influence of his mark on the region.
WINEMAKER NOTES
For winemaker Sarah, Chardonnay represents both creative freedom and precision.
“It really is a winemaker’s playground. There are so many styles you can push Chardonnay into.” The approach for the 2024 Chardonnay is rooted in balance. Fresh, clean varietal aromatics - citrus, tree fruit, and riper stone fruit - form the foundation, while carefully selected oak adds complementary layers of spice, vanilla, toast, and subtle nuttiness.
Rather than overpowering the fruit, 62% French oak is used as a supporting vessel, enhancing texture and complexity through 9 months of barrel aging with thoughtful lees work.

Domaine Ninot Rully La Barre Blanc Organic 2022 750ml
Winemaker Description
This vintage is the fruit of setting up my establishment. It embodies my doubts, my
fears, my mistakes, my great joy, my passion, my convictions.
This wine plot is located on a rocky outcrop, on the summit of the Palais Mount. Its name comes from the Latin word “barra”, copied from the Gallic “barro” which means “elevation, summit, peak”. Chalky brown soils, clay-limestone subsoils. Located at 300 meters high, on a plateau.
There is a forest which occupies the ridge of the mountain which protects and shelters the vineyard from the wind. This cool environment helps to produce the floral and aromatic character plus the freshness of the wines.
Fresh white fruits aromas accompanied by floral touches and mineral notes. It leaves a fresh cool taste in mouth and blends together a tonic effect with smoothness. This tense and invigorating juice leaves a long-lasting intense sensation in the mouth. The end result is remarkable thanks to the aromatic, sapid and well-delineated finality.
Memo Summary Notes
The Domaine Ninot Rully "La Barre" Blanc 2022 is a bright, organic expression of Chardonnay from the Côte Chalonnaise, crafted by the talented Erell Ninot, who was previously named "Best Young Winemaker" in Burgundy.
A classic partner for poultry in creamy sauces (Blanquette de veau), grilled sea bass, or scallops. It also pairs wonderfully with regional cheeses like Comté or mild Gruyère.
Giant Steps Circle Fifth Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2024 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2024
• Halliday Wine Companion (Philip Rich): 96 Points – "An absolute cracker... aromas of gently grilled nuts, confit lemon, and a touch of struck match."
• The Wine Advocate 94 Points - "The 2024 Circle of Fifths Chardonnay comprises a blend of all five single vineyards. The wine shows a little of all, and in so doing, some of none. There is the austerity of acidity and cavalcade of crushed, salted and pasted nuts, lemon zest, citrus oil and green leaves, coupled finally with the floral and tea-like notes evident in all five cuvées. It's an interesting composition, perhaps a little frenetic, like some of John Coltrane's work (Circle of Fifths is named after the jazz arrangement toward the circle of fifths root movement, whereas Coltrane's proclivity is in thirds, which is unusual. Giant Steps was named after Coltrane's studio album), but pleasurable in just the same way. In its way, this wine endorses and emphasizes the singularity of the single-vineyard wines, but it offers immense satisfaction of its own accord as well. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap."
• James Suckling: 95 Points – "Mid-weighted and textural with a strong mineral drive... mouthwatering finish."
•
The Wine Front: 95 Points – "Direct, powerful, and potent... it feels like a producer at the top of their game."
Winemaker Description | Blended exclusively from our single vineyard sites, Circle of Fifths captures the strengths of these vineyards in one wine – carefully crafted and fine-tuned over myriad blending sessions. These wines were getting lost in the regional expression, and with the Fifths, these sites come together to tell a new story.
The 2024 vintage was a more classic Yarra season. A cool start to Spring and ideal flowering conditions led to good fruit set and moderate yields. December was cool and mild, with significant rainfall at New Years and during the first week of January, giving the vines a good drink leading into the heat of February. Mid to late February was drier and warmer than is common in the Yarra, leading to great ripening conditions with no disease pressure and quite a fast vintage. In 2024, all of our Pinot and Chardonnay was ready in quick succession, leading to a compressed harvest - with the whole valley picked in the space of 3 weeks (where it normally spreads across 6 weeks). An exciting ride for our team, but ultimately giving us wines with great flavour, bright acidity and balance.
Memo Summary Notes
The Giant Steps "Circle of Fifths" Chardonnay 2024 is an inaugural, high-profile release from one of Australia's most acclaimed cool-climate producers. Recently named the 2025 Halliday Winery of the Year, Giant Steps created this "Circle of Fifths" series as a premium bridge between their regional blends and their specific single-vineyard bottlings.
The name is a musical reference to John Coltrane’s jazz theories, symbolizing the "harmony" created by blending fruit from all five of their estate single vineyards: Sexton, Tarraford, Applejack, Primavera, and Bastard Hill.
Louis Latour Montagny Les Buys 2023 750ml
Winemaker Description
Louis Latour Montagny Les Buys has a pale yellow color with green hues. Its nose reveals notes of fresh hazelnut, vanilla and acacia honey. Its palate, ample and round, offers notes of exotic fruits for an almost peppery finish.
Memo Summary
The Louis Latour Montagny "Les Buys" 2023 is a crisp, medium-to-full-bodied Chardonnay from the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy. This specific cuvée is known for its purity and "uncomplicated" Burgundian character, as it is aged entirely in stainless steel to preserve the fresh fruit and floral aromatics.
Memo Pairing Suggestions
The high acidity and lack of oak make this an ideal food wine:
• Seafood: Trout with almonds, grilled sea bass, or shrimp scampi.
• Poultry: Roasted chicken with lemon-herb butter or rabbit galantine.
• Vegetables: Steamed asparagus or artichokes with hollandaise.
• Cheese: Fresh goat cheese or aged sheep's milk cheeses like Manchego.
Domaine Boris Champy Bourgogne Hautes Cotes De Beaune Blanc Presse Verticale 382 Organic Biodynamic 2022 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2022
Stuart Pigott of JamesSuckling.com 95 Points | This astonishing white Burgundy squares the circle of excellent ripeness and concentration with great freshness and vitality. Lovely aromas of bergamot and candied lime peel with a creaminess that’s deftly wrapped around the firm mineral core. Very long, focused and polished finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Unfiltered. Drink or hold.
Bill Nanson of Burgundy Report | Also an airy, modestly floral super-attractive aromatic. Hmm, not a fat or generous wine but one with wonderful airy fruit quality. That’s a gorgeous wine – bravo.
Memo Summary Notes
The Domaine Boris Champy "Presse Verticale 382" 2022 is a masterclass in high-altitude, biodynamic Burgundy. Boris Champy—former director of legendary estates like Louis Latour and Clos de Lambrays—acquired this estate in 2017 with a mission to prove that the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune is the future of the region due to its cooler climate.
The "382" in the name refers to the 382-meter elevation of the "Montagne de Cras" plot in Nantoux, while "Presse Verticale" highlights his use of a traditional vertical basket press for a gentler extraction.
Pair with
-
Seafood: Pan-seared sea bass with fennel, smoked salmon, or lobster risotto.
-
Poultry: Roasted farm chicken with tarragon or a classic Gratin Dauphinois.
-
Cheese: Pairs beautifully with an 18-month aged Comté or a creamy Brillat-Savarin.

94 Points | The balance between fresh sensations of pear and star fruit with richer tones of toffee and gardenia is striking in this supple and very pretty wine, whose lilting acidity washes gently over touches of vanilla and hazelnut. Sea Sun by Charles Wagner California Chardonnay 2023 750ml
Winemaker Description
Sea Sun is a California Chardonnay whose character speaks to the state's unique coastal regions. Our diverse vineyard sites span several hundred miles, and even subtle differences in temperature and the strength of the wind leave their mark on the grapes. The result is a wine of broad appeal, a perfect balance of lush and crisp — featuring scents of lemon zest and flavors of peaches and apricots.
Led by winemaker Charlie Wagner, Sea Sun focuses on sourcing grapes from California’s "premier coastal regions" where the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean (the "Sea") balances the heat (the "Sun"). This results in wines that are generally fruit-forward, widely appealing, and accessible in price.
De Wetshof Lesca Chardonnay Robertson South Africa 2024 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2024
James Suckling 91 Points | Buttered corn, baked pears, vanilla and white chocolate on the nose, followed by a creamy, full-bodied palate. It’s ripe but shows good freshness. Sweet buttercream notes to close.
Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc 2023 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2023
James Suckling 96 Points | The density and balance are so attractive here, with sliced apples, white pineapple and crushed stones. Hints of dried flowers, too, such as white roses and lilacs, as well as almonds. Medium-bodied with focus and subtle strength. Seemingly endless, with a bitter-lemon edge and nice reduction in the aftertaste of gun metal. Drink and enjoy.
Decanter 94 Points | Drouhin's Clos des Mouches 2023 exemplifies the vintage's potential for delicious whites. The wine has lush, forward aromas of Mirabelle plums and quince with hints of marzipan, butter and a suggestion of stylishly smoky reduction. The texture is supple and dense, but the richness is kept in balance and the extract carries the wine to a lingering finish. Parts of the 7ha vineyard have been replanted; the old vines that produce this bottling have delivered a wine of great character.
The Wine Advocate 93-94 Points | The 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc (Domaine) is another strong performance, delivering aromas of sweet pear, peach and mandarin mingled with buttered toast and mint. Full-bodied, rich and ample, it's layered and unctuous, with a seamless, satiny, textural profile and a long, lusty finish.
The Wine Spectator 92 Points | Stylish and graceful, this white evokes lemon, apple, white flower and honey aromas and flavors. Almost seamless in its texture and balance, with finely meshed acidity providing lift and freshness. Excellent length.
Winemaker Notes
An outstanding wine. Pale yellow color. Complex floral nose of white lilac and white rose. Once open, fruity aromas come to the fore, evolving towards grilled hazelnut and almond. When the wine is more mature, the nose is surprisingly strong and fifteen minutes of aeration produce wonderful notes of white truffle, citron (cedrat), honey and nutmeg, elegantly meshed together. Very lively on the palate. Its rich texture is in evidence, but also its structure and minerality. It is round, but never heavy. Harmonious fullness in the aftertaste. This wine allies remarkably the complexity and elegance of a Bâtard-Montrachet with the power of a Corton-Charlemagne.
