Neal Martin of Vinous writes 90 Points | Plenty of appealing, ripe, sun-kissed fruit on the palate but with the acidity to keep in balance. Quite different from 2021 in style, will have wide appeal but perhaps less for Chablis purists. Drinking 2024 to 2032
Andy Howard MW of Decanter writes | Plenty of appealing, ripe, sun-kissed fruit on the palate but with the acidity to keep in balance. Quite different from 2021 in style, will have wide appeal but perhaps less for Chablis purists.
Allen Meadows of Burghound writes | This is also aromatically ripe and fresh with more citrus influence to the white orchard fruit, ocean breeze and quinine-scented nose. The plump, round and delicious medium weight flavors possess a finer mouthfeel while exhibiting slightly better depth and persistence on the nicely dry if not exactly crisp finale. This too should drink well young.

Tasting Panel 93 Points | We've long been fans of this 100% barrel-fermented wine aged in sur lie for nine months in French and Hungarian oak, but this vintage displays a surge of aromatics and flavors that is truly impressive. Ripe pear and lemon blossom perfume the air as the luxe mouthfeel of honeyed melon caresses the tongue. Intermingling notes of wet stone, charred caramel and yellow apple connect to an arch of bright acidity. The finish is juicy, with a twist of tangerine. Anthony Dias Blue
James Suckling 90 Points | This is creamy offering notes of glazed peaches, dried mangoes and caramel. Full-bodied, dense and viscous yet with vivid acidity coming through. Ripe and tropical in the finish.
Domaine Isabelle & Denis Pommier Petit Chablis Hauterivien 2022 750ml
A Big Value in White Burgundy
Petit Chablis is actually a grand wine for spring drinking and a bargain, too, compared with other white Burgundies. Wall Street Journal - Lettie Teague - August 2024
Winemaker Notes
Beautiful nose with white fruits, ripped and gourmands with a richness due to the terroir, both rich and unctuous.
A fine pale lemon. Delicious bouquet in yellow fruit, with a lively finish, very even throughout, ripe but not heavy. From bottle, a little more honeysuckle to the nose, less gas on the palate but broadly similar with a fine fresh finish.
Critic Notes
Allen Meadows writes: There is good Chablis typicity to the ripe yet fresh aromas of mostly pear, apple and zest. The caressing and nicely punchy middleweight flavors deliver acceptable depth and persistence on the refreshing finish. This should drink well almost immediately upon release. - Burghound
Domaine Blain Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets 2019 750ml
Burghound 92 Points | There is a whiff of the exotic on the white and yellow peach, citrus and floral-inflected aromas. The texture of the medium-bodied flavors is at once rich but sleek with excellent minerality on the impressively persistent finale. I quite like this, and it should amply repay extended keeping.

Tensley Chardonnay Fundamental Central Coast 2022 750ml
Our Notes
Tuesday, September 10, 2024: Dinner tonight was partly take in from Citarella west side, “Salmon Wellington” that Dorothy wanted to try plus Dorothy’s famous fresh corn off the cob and tomato salad dressed with lemon vinaigrette. The salmon dish was rich and full and needed an incisive wine, we already had opened the Joey Tensley Chardonnay and happily it worked perfectly. The first sense was we were drinking a Bourgogne Chardonnay, good acidity, light oak background, mouth filling fruit with rich textured flavors. This wine is a no brainer.

Critic Notes
Erin Brooks writes: The 2022 Fundamental Chardonnay has gregarious aromas of baked yellow apples, allspice, toast, charcuterie and flinty streaks. The medium-bodied palate has a silky texture and focused acidity to support its full, ripe, spicy flavors, and it has a long, flavorful finish. Drinking 2024 - 2029. - Robert Parker Wine Advocate 90
Winemaker Notes
This wine shows a distinct minerality on the nose. Once you taste it you will get loads of traditional chardonnay flavors like apple, lemon, tropical fruits and a pinch of buttery oak. It's such a fun wine to drink because it covers all of the bases of texture and acidity.
Enjoy with white fish, salmon or even heavier oily pork dishes.

By the barbecue, at the dinner table, or at a party, there’s likely a happy Wine Access member sipping and sharing a bottle of Joey Tensley’s Fundamental right now. Because ever since the 100-point winemaker set his sights on delivering impeccable Central Coast quality for well under $20, our members have bought his wines by the truckload and made them their every-night pour.
This 2022 Fundamental White is one of the most remarkable values in California today—a no-compromise bottle that bursts with complexity you’d expect from a 100-point winemaker. A blend of Viognier with Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, and Roussanne, it brings beautiful brightness and California generosity, which makes it a slam-dunk pairing with nearly any white-wine-friendly food…or just a balmy day and a pretty view.
We sipped this super-refreshing white during our last visit with Joey and his wife Jennifer. They told us about how their travels abroad, drinking top-notch and value-priced wines around the world, inspired them to create the Fundamental line. As the sun climbed high over their property in inland Santa Barbara County, the Fundamental’s rich mouthfeel, gorgeous aromatics, and clean mineral finish kept us reaching for sip after sip, and we were have been perfectly content whiling away the afternoon with a few more bottles.
The Rhône-inspired 2022 Fundamental White brings tons of citrusy aromatics and ripe fruit, along with a beautiful texture. Finishing with a refreshing touch of minerality, this wine will have you reaching for sip after sip, then bottle after bottle. So one warning: When you drink the Fundamental the way you should—with friends, without hesitation—it can disappear fast. Keep that in mind when you order.
Valentin Leflaive Champagne Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut CV/18/30 NV 750ml
Our Professional Review
Oscar Garcia Moncada | 67 Wine: The Leflaive family name boasts a long and distinguished winemaking tradition in Burgundy, making it perfectly fitting for them to extend this tradition north to Champagne. In February, I had the pleasure of tasting through the Valentin Leflaive Champagne lineup and was thoroughly impressed by each cuvée. Among my top favorites is the Valentin Leflaive Champagne Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut CV/18/30 NV 750ml, crafted from 100% Chardonnay grapes sourced from the grand cru village of Cramant and the premier cru village of Vertus in the Côte des Blancs. The base vintage is 2018, with a dosage of 3g/L, as indicated by the designation CV/18/30.
Winemaker Description
An elegant, fresh Blanc de Blancs from Valentin Leflaive that offers notes of yellow apples, candied lemons, freshly-baked bread and a clean salinity that lingers in the finish.

Pierre Peters Blanc de Blancs Cuvee de Reserve Grand Cru Champagne 750ml
Expert Reviews
James Suckling 86 Points | (Tasted August 7, 2023) Aromas of Italian croissant, cooked apple and tarte tatin. Medium-bodied with a roundness and freshness. Steely. Floats on the palate like you are in the clouds. 75% from 2019 and 25% perpetual reserve. 5g/L dosage. Drink now.
Tom Hewson of Decanter writes 92 Points | (Tasted October 30, 2023) The reserve wines bring a delicious, savoury sense of sourdough richness to fresh clementine, lemon and pale stone fruit, the tension of classic chalky villages still present but rounded out into a wine of impressive persistence. A benchmark NV Blanc de Blancs. 100% Chardonnay from grand cru villages in the Côte des Blancs. Based on the 2018 vintage with 50% reserves from a perpetual reserve going back to 1988. Drinking 2023 - 2028.
William Kelley of The Wine Advocate writes 92 Points | (Reviewed August 31, 2022) Based on the 2019 vintage (which Péters declares "the best of the decade") and disgorged this year, the NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvée de Réserve bursts with aromas of crisp stone fruit, orange zest, freshly baked bread and beeswax. Medium-bodied, ample and pillowy, with a fleshy core of fruit, racy acids and a saline finish, it's animated by an attractive pinpoint mousse.
Alison Napjus of The WIne Spectator writes 92 Points | (Reviewed 2022) A lively Champagne, offering pretty floral and ripe, macerated fruit aromas that accent nectarine and grainy pear flavors, with hints of pickled ginger, verbena and slivered almond and a fine, lacy mousse. Elegant. Drink now. 150 cases imported.
Jancis Robinson writes 16.5 Points | (Tasted March 18, 2021) A more friendly, approachable wine than the Extra Brut – and more tight knit. Very fine bead and great, sappy balance between the delicate fruit and something more substantial – presumably the reserve wines. I don't really see why this is less expensive than the Extra Brut. Really quite fine and rewarding with this more mature undertow beneath the particularly zesty initial impression. Drink 2021 - 2023.
