Domaine Daniel et Christine Pollier Les Trois Bousquet Saint Veran 2024 750ml
🇫🇷 Hidden gem of Burgundy — 40-70yr vines, lemon, apricot & almond, Saint-Véran
Saint-Véran is one of Burgundy’s best-kept secrets — an appellation that shares the same limestone-rich soils as its famous neighbor Pouilly-Fuissé, producing Chardonnay of genuine depth and ageability at a fraction of the price. Saint-Véran is one of Burgundy’s best-kept secrets — an appellation that shares the same limestone-rich soils as its famous neighbor Pouilly-Fuissé, producing Chardonnay of genuine depth and ageability at a fraction of the price. For the Pollier family, who have been farming the Mâconnais since the 18th century, it is home ground: 13 hectares planted entirely to Chardonnay, cultivated across Saint-Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé, and Mâcon-Villages, from vines averaging 40 years old with some parcels reaching an impressive 70 years.
‘Les Trois Bousquet’ is their single-vineyard expression of Saint-Véran at its most precise — estate fruit only, from old vines on limestone, vinified to reflect the terroir rather than the winemaker. The result is a Chardonnay of quiet authority: subtle and inviting on the nose, with lemon, apricot, acacia, and honeysuckle opening into a palate of real clarity and roundness. Notes of almond, hazelnut, cinnamon, and a touch of butter carry through to a finish with an exotic twist of orange peel — complex, harmonious, and unmistakably Burgundian.
A benchmark for what Saint-Véran can be, from one of the Mâconnais’ most quietly distinguished family estates. Drinks beautifully now and will reward patience through 2030+.

Choose when time is of the essence
Domaine Daniel Pollier has been producing white wines across Mâcon since the 18th century, with current plantings of Chardonnay found in the appellations of Mâcon Fuissé, Mâcon-Villages, Saint-Véran, Mâcon Chaintré, and Pouilly-Fuissé, the latter of which is en route to receive Premier Cru status in the coming years. The domaine comprises 13 hectares. All of the wines are crafted solely from estate fruit, coming from vines with an average of 40 years, some of which clock in at an impressive 70 years.
Occupying vineyards to the west and south of the village of Mâcon, the appellation of St-Véran interweaves with Pouilly-Fuissé, overlapping both the Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Grown on limestone, St-Véran whites' ageability and power fall somewhere in between the wines of Mâcon-Villages and Pouilly-Fuissé.
After subtle aromas of lemon, apricot, acacia and honeysuckle, on the palate a St-Véran (always made of Charodnnay) shows fresh focus and clarity while exhibiting roundness and harmonious balance. A great St-Véran will express notes of almond, hazelnut, cinnamon, butter or toast and sometimes an exotic twist of orange peel. Seafood risotto or pasta with mushrooms are perfect pairings.
