Our Professional Review
Bart Hopkins of 67Wine.com | Dog Point Vineyard is the largest certified organic wine estate in New Zealand. This Sauvignon Blanc is bright and delicious, with fresh lively flavors in a refreshing, easy sipping style. Crisp and very pleasant, perfect for seafood and salads.
Expert Review - Vintage 2024
The Wine Advocate writes: "The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc leads with a distinct nose of freshly picked curry leaf, crushed sea shells, lemon zest, asphalt, mustard seed, dried coriander/coriander seed and white flesh orchard fruit. This is powerfully fruited, has great energy and drive and, unsurprisingly, offers great pleasure and satisfying drinking. This is a very smart, savory wine here. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." - The Wine Advocate 95 Points
James Suckling writes: "This is excellent, as always, showing flint, sliced lemons and fresh green melon. Some Thai basil too. Medium body, crisp acidity and lots of fruit at the end but with focus and tension. From organically grown grapes." - James Suckling 93 Points
Wine Enthusiast writes: "Dog Point's whites are known for their distinctive flinty, reductive characters that sometimes go too far. But lately, this producer has reined it in, striking the perfect balance so that the white peach and guava fruit shine, too. There's chalky, pithy textural components and a tautness that suggests a happy few years of aging. If drinking now, a little aeration in glass won't hurt." - Wine Enthusiast 93 Points
Vinous Media writes: "The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc is far from the wham-bam mass-produced Marlborough style. This is relatively restrained and textural, with far lower yields, hand-harvesting and whole bunch-pressing before most of the wine went through an indigenous fermentation. On first opening, there's a struck match character that needs some air to blow off to reveal lemon and lime, tangy green character of nettles. It's balanced and seamless, exuding a sense of calm in the mouth with an attractive, lightly grippy texture on the refreshing finish. This fades a little more quickly than I'd like." - Vinous Media - 91 Points
Winemaker Description
Pale straw. Pure and bright perfume with aromatics of grapefruit and white peach. Subtle smoke and gravelly tones layered over this create a complexity beyond the immediate fruit profile. Juicy, plush, white fleshed fruit pour across the palate with a refreshing and defined acidity balancing the sunny fruit profile, finishing clean and dry. Drinks beautifully now or can comfortably be cellared for five years or more.

He has 12 hectares of vines, 10 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and 2 hectares of Gamay and Pineau d'Aunis. The estate has been run in organic farming, certified since 2013. The farm's vines come from mass selections , which makes it possible to maintain the production quality of the old vines and a rich varietal complexity.
Angle Droit is made from Sauvignon Blanc . Manual harvests are carried out early in the morning, when temperatures are low to avoid oxidation of the juice. The grapes are pressed slowly in a pneumatic press then the wine is cooled in stainless steel vats. Aging is carried out on lees.

-
Seafood: Oysters on the half shell, fish ceviche, or grilled sea bass with salsa verde.
-
Vegetables: Its herbal notes make it one of the few wines that pairs perfectly with fresh asparagus.

Winemaker Description
2022 was a near ideal vintage for Sauvignon Blanc. Along with Yakima Valley, this is our first vintage sourcing several Sauvignon Blanc clones from Horse Heaven Hills, and represents our latest harvest date on record for our Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc. The new winemaking team worked with our vineyard managers to update our viticultural practices, reducing yields (on average) by 30% for each site.
All three vineyard sites were picked in the early morning light on October 7th, 2022. Upon arriving at the winery, the grapes were whole cluster pressed under a blanket of protective CO2 and the juice was delivered into tank. It was then cold settled for 24 hours before being fermented in 100% stainless steel tanks. Fermentation techniques were selected individually for each vineyard to help accentuate the fruit and typicity from each location. Primary fermentation was slow and cool, allowing the wine to hold onto its intense aromatic profile. Aged in stainless steel and small parts neutral oak for 5 months. Secondary fermentation was arrested to preserve freshness and acidity and the wine was blended shortly before bottling. The wine was bottled on March 28th, 2023. Only 4510 cases were made.
Two separate clones were included in the final blend (Sauvignon Blanc: 1, Gist).
The 2022 Matthews Columbia Valley Sauvignon Blanc is yellow jasmine in color with flecks of green. Intense aromatics of starfruit, lemony sorrel leaf, juicy green pear and mandarin orange open to honeysuckle and linden flower. Followed by flavors of lemon curd, oyster shell, candied orange peel and flint, this medium bodied, balanced wine has refreshing acidity. It finishes long with briney and stoney flavors that are taught and textural.
Mahi Sauvignon Blanc 2024 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2024
James Suckling 93 Points | Complex aromas of lemon peel, grapefruit pith, apple blossoms, pastry and lanolin. The palate is textural and creamy with a medium-bodied mouthfeel and bright acidity that carries lingering flavors of lime leaves, pomelo and sea salt. Made with 2% semillon. 7% barrel-fermented and 19% wild-fermented with eight months on the lees before bottling. Drink or hold.
Winemaker Description
This wine shows an array of fruit characters, ranging from citrus through to tropical notes. This is complemented by some secondary characters from the natural yeast ferments and some barrel aging. The palate has an elegant structure with a creamy, textural mid-palate and a long finish.
Memo Summary Notes
The Mahi Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a standout release from Brian Bicknell, a winemaker known for moving away from the "industrial" style of Marlborough in favor of texture, complexity, and soul. While many entry-level Sauvignon Blancs are fermented entirely in stainless steel to preserve loud tropical fruit, Mahi uses a "chef’s approach," incorporating wild ferments and old oak to create a more sophisticated, food-friendly wine.
Pair with because of its creamy texture and weight, this is one of the few Sauvignon Blancs that can handle lightly seared scallops or oysters without overpowering them.
Fresh goat cheese (Chèvre) or a vibrant Greek salad with plenty of Feta.

Illumination by Quintessa Winery Sauvignon Blanc 2024 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2024
The Wine Spectator by MaryAnn Worobiec 94 Points | Fragrant, effusive and charming, with notes of honeysuckle and orange blossoms up front giving way to a creamy mix of mango, orange sherbet and lemon curd. Spicy accents of candied ginger, litsea oil and salted, preserved lemon join a drizzle of wildflower honey and linger on the long, impressive finish. Drink now through 2036. 5,000 cases made.
The Wine Advocate 93 Points by Joe Czerwinski | Quintessa's 2024 Illumination blends fruit from Napa (55%) and Sonoma (45%). As usual, there's a decent-sized dollop of old-vine Sémillon (14% this year) in the blend, with the rest of the fruit being Sauvignon Blanc—roughly one-third of that is the more aromatic Musqué clone. Fermented and raised in a variety of vessels, including new and old French oak barrels, acacia barrels, stainless steel drums and concrete eggs, it offers up enticing scents of pencil shavings, lemon zest, grapefruit and fig. Plump and medium-bodied in the mouth, it boasts a fine line of acidity from start to finish, giving the fruit a spine to play against and prolonging the concentrated, citrusy finish.
Further Winemaker Notes
What started as a passion project for the Huneeus family, this limited bottling is one of Napa Valley's most sought-after Sauvignon Blancs. When making Illumination our ultimate goal is to produce a white wine of true character. We approach Illumination with the same care and attention as with Quintessa, with the aim of capturing the best qualities of our grapes and to craft a wine of harmony and balance. Illumination is alive with aromatic complexity, beautiful texture and bright fruit flavors. This is an incredible vintage and the perfect summer wine that pairs with a variety of appetizers and seafood.

Peter Michael Winery Sauvignon Blanc l’Apres Midi 2024 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2023
The Wine Advocate 94 Points | Grapes for the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc L’Après-Midi were picked from September 21 through November 2—an especially long harvest window. “It was a special year because everything was pushed back,” Winemaker Robert Fiore says, noting that the cooler season resulted in very lively wines. Blended with 4% Sémillon, the 2023 L’Après-Midi is open and inviting. Pineapple, peach and guava are accented by tones of beeswax, dried tarragon and candle smoke on the nose. The palate is bursting with concentrated, tropical, spicy flavors. Its vibrant acidity provides the perfect foil, lending the wine a shimmery feel, and it has a long, perfumed finish. 1,850 cases were made.
Winemaker Description
2023 'L’Après-Midi' (The Afternoon) was named in honor of the pleasures of a slow and lazy afternoon, which according to Sir Peter is a good time to start enjoying this wine. This is one of our two estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon blends.
The grapes are grown alongside our red Bordeaux varietals within Les Pavots Vineyard, benefiting from the steep slopes, excellent drainage, and cool air at altitude. The wine is whole-cluster-pressed and then naturally fermented in a barrel, forgoing a second malolactic fermentation to preserve the fruity and zesty character of the Sauvignon Blanc. It is predominantly made from Sauvignon Blanc, with just a touch of Sémillon.

Winemaker Description
Brightly colored with notes of fresh grapefruit, grass and kiwi and a long, nicely acidic finish.
Goose Bay’s approach to winemaking is rather simple. Goose Bay’s winemakers also don’t believe in building a winery business by constantly talking about how great they are. They are in the business because they love the life… the viticulture, the winemaking, the marketing and the people they work with and meet.
Kosher for Passover. Mevushal.

Routestock Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2023 750ml
2023 marks our eighth vintage of sauvignon blanc and our sourcing has remained the same for all eight vintages. We work closely with our two growers, one in Carneros and the other just east of Yountville. How sauvignon blanc is grown has a major impact on what flavors we get, so we spend time during the growing season ensuring we are exposing the clusters to the right amount of sum, too little sum and you get the green bell pepper flavors, too much gives you flavors of guava. Too much canopy drives grassy flavors we want to avoid.
