Santi Valpolicella Ripasso Solane 2020 750ml
Unveiling the Santi Valpolicella Ripasso Solane 2020
Winemaker Description
Santi Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a “ripasso” method Valpolicella; meaning that following primary fermentation the wine sees a second fermentation with the addition of Amarone grapes and skins, creating a richer, more complex and more exciting final wine.
Terroir: Santi Solane is sourced from estate vineyards within the original Valpolicella appellation of Valpolicella Classico.
Vinification: When primary fermentation is complete in early winter, grapes, skins and pomace from Santi’s Amarone are added to the vats. The additional sugars from the Amarone trigger a second fermentation which adds additional layers of complexity, rich fruit and structure. The wine is blended and then aged for more 3-5 months in small oak cask followed by an additional 12 months in larger neutral casks prior to bottling.
Memo Summary Notes
The Santi "Solane" Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore 2020 is widely considered a high-value "overachiever" from the Veneto region. It is produced using the traditional Ripasso method, where the wine is re-fermented on the skins (pomace) of Amarone grapes to add depth, structure, and complexity without the heavy price tag of a full Amarone.
Because of its structure and savory edge, it pairs exceptionally well with:
-
Meats: Roast beef, grilled ribeye, or game meats like venison.
-
Pasta: Rich dishes like pappardelle with a wild boar or mushroom ragù.
-
Cheese: Aged cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino.
Rich Heritage of Valpolicella
The Santi Valpolicella Ripasso Solane 2020 is a splendid representation of the Valpolicella region in Italy. Wine aficionados appreciate it for its unique process where young wine is re-passed over the dried grape skins of Amarone, infusing it with remarkable depth. This method is traditional yet modern, offering a glimpse into the artistry behind Italian winemaking. You can savor its rich, complex flavors, which are a testament to its heritage and craftsmanship.
A Symphony of Flavors
When you take a sip of Santi Valpolicella Ripasso, you are introduced to a symphony of flavors. The wine presents an enticing profile of dark cherry, plum, and hints of spices. These flavors dance on your palate, while soft tannins create a smooth finish. This balance ensures that the wine is versatile, making it an excellent choice for pairing with various dishes. Whether you enjoy it alone or with a meal, it promises a delightful experience, and you will find it satisfying.
Perfect for Any Occasion
What sets the Santi Valpolicella Ripasso apart is its versatility. It’s perfect for casual dinners or formal gatherings. The medium-bodied nature of this wine complements roasted meats, rich pasta dishes, and even artisanal cheeses. Because of its complexity, it is also enjoyable on its own. This adaptability makes it a beloved choice among wine enthusiasts, ensuring that you always have the right option for any occasion or season.

Azienda Agricola COS FRAPPATO Biodynamic 2024 750ml
Winemaker Description
Giusto Occhipinti of COS is a benchmark producer in the Vittoria appellation of Sicily, and certainly one of the most important, influential, producers in all of Sicily if not Italy as a whole. The winery was founded in 1980 by three friends, Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti, and Cirino Strano. The initials of their last names form the winery’s name.
For Giusto, “the vineyard is like our life’s savings in the bank, so we must protect it.” Protecting it means that they work organically and biodynamically to support the health of the soil. They have never used any synthetic or chemical additives in the vineyard since the outset in 1980. Officially, the winery was an early practitioner of Biodynamic viticulture starting in 2000 and was certified organic as of 2007. The climate of Vittoria is also generally warm and dry making it well-adapted to organic & biodynamic viticulture. Giusto and his vineyard team also prepare many of the Biodynamic treatments in-house, though a few are purchased elsewhere from small, reputable sources for these important products.
Throughout the entire range, there is a focus on elegance and purity, especially the joyous, floral Frappato – Sicily’s answer to Cru Beaujolais.
The bright red fruit flavors of cherry and strawberry are vibrant and aromatic with low tannins and fresh acidity.

Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis DOCG 2023 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2023
James Suckling 93 Points | A fresh and crunchy white with light lemons, mangoes and bitter limes. It’s medium- to full-bodied with lots of fruit. The hot growing season comes through, but it remains fresh at the end.
The Bruno Giacosa 2023 Roero Arneis will be a smaller release due to fruit that was damaged during a hailstorm the first week of July. Nonetheless, this wine remains salty, mineral-driven and bright with citrus and white peach. It is executed in stainless steel only. Perhaps this vintage is a little thinner in terms of mouthfeel, but it draws to a close with lingering acidity.
Winemaker Description
Intense straw colored with greenish glints. The nose presents lemon, pineapple, peach and apricot notes with floral hints. On the palate, it is fresh, full-bodied, with mineral notes and a persistent finish.
Montenidoli Canaiuolo Toscana Rosé 2025 750ml
Our Buyer’s Review
Debra, 67Wine Rosé Buyer | Elegant and expressive. Produced from 100% Canaiuolo — a traditional red grape grown in the San Gimignano production zone of Tuscany — this distinctive rosé reveals vibrant notes of red berry fruits, citrus, and wild herbs, balanced by savory and mineral notes. Dry and fresh on the palate, medium to full-bodied, with a touch of salinity and a long, refined finish. Versatile and food-friendly. 100% Organic.
Winemaker Description
Elisabetta Fagiuoli and her husband Sergio founded their 50-hectare estate in 1965, on a hillside across the valley from San Gimignano. All farming is organic, yields are low, and quality control is ruthless.
This soft and savory rosato is made from 100% hand-harvested Canaiuolo from 65+ year-old vines, undergoing a lengthy fermentation before bottling. Light salmon-pink in the glass with aromas of strawberries, watermelon, and ripe cherry. Crisp and refreshing on the palate with elegant minerality and a lively finish. The perfect aperitif — ideally served in a Champagne flute.

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2020
- James Suckling — 93 pts: Fragrant with blue fruit, dried herbs, crushed stones and raspberries. Tightly wound and medium- to full-bodied with tender red fruit and an elegant rigidity that is very appealing. Pure Sangiovese from a single vineyard in Radda in Chianti. Already drinkable, but will reward cellaring.
- Wine Spectator — 89 pts: Balsamic aromas and flavors of tomato leaf and eucalyptus frame the cherry and berry fruit in this dense, solidly built red. Best from 2026 through 2038. 7,500 cases made, 325 cases imported.

I Favati, Fiano di Avellino Pietramara 2023 750ml
Experience the Unique Flavors of Fiano from Avellino
Expert Review - Vintage 2023
Vinous 91 Points | Minty herbs combine with crushed stone and nuances of exotic spice as the 2023 Fiano di Avellino Pietramara blossoms in the glass. It is soothingly round, displaying a pretty inner sweetness balanced by juicy acidity and a core of tart orchard fruits. Hints of raw almond mix with candied citrus as the 2023 shows a sweet and sour character through the long and mouth-watering finale.
Producer Description
The Fiano di Avellino takes its name from the variety that the Latins called Vitis Apiana.
The grapes were so sweet that they proved irresistible to bees (“api”).
The wine, which was already highly appreciated in the Middle Ages, originated several millennia ago. An order for three “salme” (a measure) of Fiano is entered in the register of Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II. Charles d’Anjou must have enjoyed the wine as well, since he had 16,000 Fiano vines planted in the royal vineyards.
Fresh and minerally, slightly smoky with notes of lemon peel and pear. Medium body, excellent fruit, long finish carries a note of grilled pineapple and dried fruits. Food Pairings: Perfect as an aperitif
