This is Lauer’s Platonic ideal of what a Saar Riesling should be. If we were in Burgundy this would be the equivalent of a Bourgogne Blanc.

As an appellation-level wine, it is sourced from multiple vineyards in three different villages of the Saar. This is always a thrilling off-dry and a silly value.

Dr. Konstantin Frank is the founding father of the American vinifera movement — the visionary who, in 1957, planted the first European vinifera vines in the Eastern United States on the southwestern hills of Keuka Lake and ignited a revolution that forever changed New York wine. Four generations later, the Frank family remains the benchmark for Finger Lakes winemaking — and this Rkatsiteli is their most ancient and extraordinary expression. Rkatsiteli is a Georgian grape variety dating back to 3000 B.C., making it one of the oldest known cultivated grapes in the world. The 2024 is crafted as an amber wine with one month of skin contact — a nod to the ancient Georgian qvevri tradition — resulting in a wine of striking complexity, texture, and depth.

Winemaker Notes

A bright colour with clear legs that herald what is to come, the aromas rapidly announcing a charming and almost heady wine. Delicate floral notes of rose and jasmine interact with hints of yellow fruit — peach, Mirabelle — and tropical fruit: lychee, mango, dragon fruit. The bouquet is expressive but retains a sense of refinement and nuance, a true Hugel wine. Louis Latour is one of Burgundy’s most storied and respected négociant-éleveurs, with roots going back to 1797 in Aloxe-Corton. VINIFICATION

Direct Press – Thanks to our pneumatic presses, we carry out slow pressing. Only the first presses of our highest quality batches are selected for the final blend. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Second fermentation and ageing : The second fermentation, which takes place inside the bottle, is generated by the addition of yeasts and sugar. The wines are then aged on their lees between 12 and 15 months.

Jo Landron Amphibolite Muscadet Sèvre et Maine — Loire Valley 2025

Jo Landron has been farming the upper slopes of the Sèvre River near Nantes since 1990, and in that time he has quietly become one of the most important voices in French natural viticulture. His conversion to organic farming began in 1999, biodynamic certification followed in 2011, and the results are impossible to argue with. The Amphibolite — named for the metamorphic rock that defines its terroir — is the entry point to the Landron lineup and one of the most honest expressions of Melon de Bourgogne you will find at any price.

The 2025 is everything Muscadet should be: citrusy, saline, and alive. The nose is clean and precise — lemon zest, green apple, crushed oyster shell, and a faint floral lift. Winemaker Description 

Founded in 1970 by Marc Colin and his wife Michele, Domaine Marc Colin now spans 15 hectares encompassing 26 appellations in St. Aubin, Chassagne, Puligny, and Santenay. Most of the land was inherited from past generations of Colin and Ponavoy; certain parcels have been in the family for more than 100 years. While the family does own prime territory in Chassagne, home base in St. Aubin features parcels of the very best vineyards, En Remilly and Chatenière, to name a few. These vineyards accrue prestige due to their sloped location; while much of St. Aubin resides on flat ground (rendering less interesting wines) the Colin properties are all situated on finely pitched hillsides. The resulting wines shimmer with savory minerality and luster.

Today Joseph, Caroline, and Damien, the children of Marc and Michele, own and run the domaine.
