August Clape St. Peray BLANC 2021 750ml
Expert Review
Decanter 94 Points | Starts soft and gentle, then the sparkling, bright acidity spreads over the palate. Great purity, balance and roundness; very satisfying. A mix of 60-year-old and seven-year-old vines, vinified in oak. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030.
Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Napa Valley 2021 1.5L MAGNUM
Boasts fresh, fragrant, apple, melon and pear aromas with a hint of oak spice. Rich and mouthfilling on the palate, its smooth, beautifully balanced, yellow apple, nectarine and honeydew melon flavors segue into a long, succulent finish enhanced by refreshing mineral and spicy oak tones. Released soon after bottling, our Napa Valley Chardonnay hits its stride after 6-8 months in the bottle and rewards 5-7 years of aging.
This is a versatile pairing wine—enjoy it with grilled seafood and nearly any selection of cheeses. Winemaker Description.
Domaine Alain Chavy Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru 2017 750ml
Vinous 93 Points | The 2017 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, which is as usual, an exchange with Jean-Michel Chartron, has a crisp and precise bouquet with touches of yellow flower and crushed stone complementing the citrus fruit. The palate is very well balanced with beautifully integrated oak (one-year old rather than new), leading to a precise, almost Meursault-like finish. Superb.
It has a very detailed, slightly flinty, perhaps reserved bouquet that opens reluctantly in the glass. The palate is taut on the entry, hints of white chocolate infusing the citrus fruit, nicely balanced with a harmonious and elegant finish. Winemaker Description.

Trimbach Frederic Emile Riesling Alsace 2014 750ml
Tessa Laroche Domaine Aux Moines Chenin Blanc Le Berceau Des Fees Organic Biodynamic 2021 1.5 Lit MAGNUM
Le Berceau de Fees" by Domaine Aux Moines is a lovely and juicy Chenin Blanc from young vineyards of famous Roche-aux-Moines grand cru. It opens on the nose to clean and straight aromas of fruit, flowers and aromatic herbs, surrounded by sharp saltiness. The sip is fresh and direct, animated by great acid shoulder and long mineral persistence. Winemaker Description.
Domaine Blain Gagnard Le Montrachet Grand Cru 2019 750ml
Burghound 94 points | There is just enough wood and menthol elements present to be worth noting surrounding the citrusy apple, pear and exotic tea-scented nose. The bigger, richer and more sophisticated medium weight plus flavors possess evident power as well as a lovely sappiness that coats the palate on the delicious, highly complex and strikingly long finale. Like the Bâtard, this beauty is built for the long haul though it could actually be approachable after only 7 to 8 years. In brief, this is extremely promising.
Domaine Marc Colin Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champ Gains 2019 750ml
Wine Advocate 91 Points | Aromas of citrus zest, peach and pear, mingled with hints of white flowers, hazelnuts and fresh bread, preface the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gain, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and nicely concentrated wine with a bright spine of acidity and a mouthwateringly chalky finish. This looks to be Colin's best Champs Gain since 2017.
Barrel Sample: (91-93)+Burghound 92 Points | Pretty and airy aromas include those of citrus blossom, freshly sliced apple and a whiff of rosemary oil. The rich and very generously proportioned flavors still manage to have very good underlying tension on the agreeably dry, focused and solidly complex finale. This is quite good, in fact unusually so compared to what is typical for the vineyard.Vinous 93 points The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Champs Gain 1er Cru has a touch more mineralité on the nose compared to the Les Chenevottes, touches of gypsum and oyster shell intermingling with light white linen scents. The palate is very well balanced and beautifully poised, with entrancing white peach and nectarine notes toward the irresistible finish. Yes, yes, yes!
Domaine Blain Gagnard Le Montrachet Grand Cru 2020 750ml
Expert Review
Burghound 95 Points | A wonderfully spicy and beautifully layered nose offers up notes of citrus confit, acacia blossom, anise, jasmine tea and an interesting hint of clove. Much like the Bâtard, the mouthfeel of the broad-shouldered flavors is sleek and intense with impressive reserves of sap buffering the hugely long finish. Like several of the wines in the range, this will need to add depth with time in bottle, but the Blain Montrachet has a fine track record in that regard.
Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Grand Cru Marquis de Laguiche 2015 750ml
Expert Review
91 Points Robert Parker | The 2015 Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru was stubbornly backward and broody on the nose: hints of yellow flower and struck flint. Nosing this felt like I was disturbing its prenatal slumber. The palate had more to say. It is well balanced with a brush of honey on the entry, a keen thread of acidity, a hint of spice with a composed yet straight-laced finish that I find less expressive than the Corton-Charlemagne at the moment. Let’s see how this turns out in bottle. It’s a Montrachet, though that does not necessarily mean it is Drouhin’s finest white this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2038.
Winemaker Description
Like all great white wines, Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche deserves to accompany the best fish and shellfish dishes, such as lobster or crabmeat in a light wine sauce; salmon, trout or Dover sole simply grilled or poached. The wine should be served no colder than 13°C (57°F).
Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes 1983 750ml
Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes 2006 750ml
Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes 1989 1.50L MAGNUM
Wine Advocate 97 Points | The favorite sweet wine of millionaires, Chateau d'Yquem has, not unexpectedly, turned in a brilliant effort with their newly released 1989. It is a large-scaled, massively rich, unctuously-textured wine that should evolve effortlessly for a half century or more. It does not reveal the compelling finesse and complexity of the 1988 or 1986, but it is a far heavier, richer wine than either of those vintages. It is reminiscent of the 1976, with additional fat and glycerin. The wine is extremely alcoholic and rich, with a huge nose of smoky, honey-covered coconuts and overripe pineapples and apricots. As with most young vintages of Yquem, the wine's structure is barely noticeable. These wines are so highly extracted and rich yet approachable young, it is difficult to believe they will last for 50 or more years. The 1989 is the richest Yquem made in the eighties, and it has an edge in complexity over the powerhouse 1983. It remains to be seen whether this wine will develop the extraordinary aromatic complexity possessed by the promising 1988 and 1986 Yquems.
Bat Gara Arabako Txakolina Urtaran Cuvee 2021 750ml
Nuanced and structured whites are dry, medium-dry or medium-sweet wines with characteristically mineral and herbal flavours and aromas.
You can also discern citrus, gooseberry and blackcurrant notes in these wines. Crisp acids add the necessary structure, making them an ideal accompaniment to food.
Rudi Pichler Gruner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Achleiten 2021 750ml
Winemaker Description
Sustainable. 100% Grüner Veltliner. Nice and balanced nose with fresh tones of white fruits, white peaches, white pepper, snap peas, and some citrus tones. On the palate, medium- to full-bodied with crisp, refreshing acidity and flavors of white fruits, white peaches, minerals and white pepper.
Ravines Dry Riesling Finger Lakes 2021 750ml
Critic Notes
93 Points James Suckling | For an entry-level wine this is a stunner! Wonderful nose of white peach, lemon blossom and jasmine. So succulent, with excellent ripeness and concentration, but nothing flashy or any hint of opulence. The best thing about the wine is the long, very silky finish. And this is properly dry.
Description:
While Ravines makes many wines well, it is their Riesling that consistently draws global attention. The 2021 exhibits watchmaker-like precision with the unmistakable petrol note, baked pastries, orange blossoms, yellow apples and quince. Additional flavors of peach and apricot provide ripe fruit while the laser sharp acidity streaks through the entirety of the wine. Finely tuned between overall richness and drying acidity.
Winery Notes
A combinate of grapes harvested from out Limestone Springs and Sixteen Falls vineyars this Riesling features bright crips flavors of asian pear, white peach, and soft blossom. A delicate current of flint elevates this beautiful and succulent, dry riesling that shows terrific balance and tension from the integrated acidity.

Zahel Orange Traube BIODYNAMIC 2022 750ml
Originating from wild vines, Orangetraube was first selected as a recognized varietal in 1840 and has been a part of the Zahel family's field blends (Gemischter Satz) since the winery began in 1930, but only produced as a monovarietal white since 1954.
Two generations later, Alexander Zahel is the last remaining producer of this unique treasure of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
This unique historic variety from Vienna's vineyards is fresh, complex, and edgy, with under ripe stone fruit and zippy acidity. Winemaker Description.

Donnhoff Riesling Hermannshohle GG 2021 750ml
99 Points Robert Parker | Aged on the full lees until June this year and to be bottled the day after I tasted it, the 2021 Hermannshöhle GG offers a clear, deep, intense and complex bouquet of iodine slate aromas intertwined with lemon oil notes and those of crushed stones. Darker toned and more remote or aristocratic yet also intense and concentrated, it has a sur lie character and concentrated fruit. Full-bodied, dense, yet crystalline and saline on the palate, this is a powerful, rich and persistent Hermannshöhle with a long, complex and aromatic finish with fine tannins and stimulating lemon bitters. Still with rougher grip, this is an intense and lush, still dismissive Hermannshöhle.
James Suckling | Power, complexity and brilliance make this a truly remarkable dry riesling, the touch of creaminess from long sur-lie maturation giving this exactly the soft touch it needs to balance the steely minerality that powers it at the imposing yet totally vibrant finish.
PointsA perfect, steep southern slope with soils consisting of blackish-grey slate and volcanic elements, extremely rich in minerals. The stuff of legends, for over 100 years this has been the most lauded site in the entire Nahe wine-growing region. Winemaker Description.
Domaine Justin Boxler Sylvaner 2021 750ml
Pale yellow. Anised notes. Fine and flexible, fresh in the final. Fresh citrus fruit and herbs on the nose, powerful and mineral on the palate.
Pair with shellfish, whitefish, sauerkraut. Winemaker Description.
JJ Prum Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese 2020 750ml
96 Points James Suckling | This Spatlese beams you up to Cloud 9, from where you have a wonderful view over the beautiful Mosel Valley. In spite of the considerable concentration, this is super-delicate and precise on the barely medium-bodied palate. Enormously long finish, where you barely feel the natural grape sweetness. Drink or hold.
95 Points Wine Advocate | The 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese is pure, clear and flinty on the concentrated nose that is reminiscent of a fresh fruit salad served on a slate plate on an early summer morning. Light, lush and highly finessed but seriously structured on the palate, this is a savory, very clear and elegant Sonnenuhr Spätlese with great precision and finesse and highly stimulating salinity and mouth-watering grip on the finish. Rating: 95+
Schlossgut Diel Riesling Dorsheimer Goldloch Spatlese 2010 750ml
Orange and tangelo, overripe peach and bergamot; juicy and firm, solid yet voluptuous, vaporous and long, plump yet muscular (how many ways can I say it?); a rococo opulent wine yet also seriously devout in its terroir, even as it blushes and giggles. SOS: 2 (8-27 years). Winemaker Description.

Van Volxem Schartzhofberg Riesling GG 2020 750ml 95 pts James Suckling
Spreitzer 303 Oestricher Lenchen Riesling Spatlese 2019 750ml 93 pts Falstaff
92 Points Vinous | Mango, pink grapefruit, pear, lychee, honeysuckle and lily combine for a headily exotic and almost overripe nose. Luscious, almost gaudy ripeness and perfume are the inner-mouth story as well, backed by gloss and considerable sweetness – though not the excessive sweetness that this bottling at one time tended to exhibit. The lingering finish displays real vibrancy, no doubt in large part owing to the wine’s harboring vintage-atypically high acidity of 10 grams. And that in turn is almost certainly a result of light desiccation of healthy fruit, which is also what gives this bottling its Auslese-like aura. (For the history of this bottling and its name, see especially my review of its vintage 2015 instantiation.)
The Spreitzer Oestrich Lenchen Riesling Spätlese '303' was first produced in the year 2000 and honours the Spreitzer brothers Grandfather who harvested his legendary Trockenbeerenauslese from the same vineyard in 1920 - which garnered a record sugar level of 303 degrees Oechsle.
Coming exclusively from the Eisenberg this is rich with red apples and sweet acacia honey on the nose. In reality this is more of a baby Auslese than a Spätlese, dripping with quince paste, peaches in sweet syrup and honeysuckle. A pure pleasure to drink, luscious without being over the top. Winemaker Description.
Von Hovel Riesling Scharzhofberg Spatlese 2018 750ml 94 pts Falstaff
Rand Sieger of 67Wine.com | The Scharzhofberg is considered by many to be the most prestigious vineyard in the Mosel region. Sipping this beautiful Spatlese from Von Hovel reminded me why it has earned that vaunted reputation.
The nose is stately elegant while at the same time, quite powerful. Yellow fruit and bright white berries marry nicely with lemon zest, spice box, and just a touch of reductive sharpness. A very definite honey sweetness stretches across the palate with just the right amount of lip-smacking tartness to tie it all together. Finishes smooth and silky with a lingering trail of honey and brown sugar.
This is one to savor by itself as dessert in its own right, but would be a lovely accompaniment to simple shortbread biscuits, or raspberry tart.

Immich Batterieberg Riesling Enkircher Ellergrub ORGANIC 2019 750ml
Century-old, pre-phylloxera, ungrafted vines planted on a blue slate hillside of dizzying steepness renders a wine that’s nothing short of profound. It offers intense flavor, integrated juiciness, sensuous texture and extraordinary length and intricacy with guaranteed potential for long maturation.
Gernot Kollmann started his career at the Immich Batterieberg winery in 2009. Since then he has led the house to new successes. Connoisseurs are fascinated by the house wines because they reflect the Moselle and especially the Riesling in an intensive and individual way.
The Immich Batterieberg Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling brings sweet and tart pleasure into the glass. Enchanting herbal bouquet Its bright straw-yellow dress suits the Immich Batterieberg Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling admirably. Spicy flint and dried herbs inspire in the bouquet. Here the Riesling flatters the nose in a clear and light way. Ripe plate peach, a hint of citrus zest and apple blossom find their way into the aromatic spectacle.
The Immich Batterieberg Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling on the palate The mineral-fruity nose of the Immich Batterieberg Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling is followed by a full-bodied and crystal-clear pleasure on the palate. The dried garden herbs and the spicy slate combine on the tongue with apple compote and juicy peach wedges. Balsamic accents and a sinewy body give the wine a lot of elegance, even in the long finish. The fruit of the Immich Batterieberg Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling is pleasantly restrained and leaves plenty of room for spicy and mineral notes.
For this reason, the Riesling is ideal as an accompaniment for the exclusive kitchen on special occasions. Baked veal cheeks on risotto, steamed zander and grilled trout welcome him with joy at their side. Gernot Kollmann creates a fine Riesling from a steep site.
For the Immich Batterieberg Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling, the winemaker chooses particularly long-grown vines with deep roots. The plants have been growing on the blue slate soil for more than eighty years. The Ellergrub site is known for exceptionally elegant wine.
The Immich Batterieberg Enkircher Ellergrub Riesling does not disappoint either. Gernot Kollmann ferments the wine with great patience and calm. Under his hands, the Riesling unfolds its natural potential and absorbs the terroir around the steep slate slope. Great enjoyment from a great location.
Resonance Louis Jadot Estates Chardonnay Hyland Vineyard McMinnville 2017 750ml
Bart Hopkins 67Wine.com | This impressive Chardonnay from McMinnville behaves more like a young White Burgundy than anything from the new world. Aromas of golden apple, pear and quince emerge from the glass with a seasoning of nutmeg and toasted brioche. Clean and very crisp in the mouth with a Chablis-like minerality, balanced by invigorating acidity and energetic tension. There is a well-crafted Chardonnay with plenty of youthful charm and layered complexity.
Vinous 92 Points | Pale gold. Mineral- and smoke-tinged pear and white peach aromas pick up floral and lemon pith nuances with air. Juicy and focused on the palate, showing very good tension and cut to the Anjou pear, peach pit and Meyer lemon flavors. A subtle iodine note appears on the impressively long, tight finish, which leaves a bitter pear skin note behind. 20% new French oak.
