Founder Jim Bernau began experimenting with whole cluster fermentation by gently placing hand-picked clusters into a CO2-filled stainless fermenter. Fermentation begins inside each individual berry, releasing the most aromatic, fruit-driven Pinot Noir. Ruby red in the glass with aromas of dried dark cherries, cinnamon, and cranberry. Founded in 1891, the Brand winery has been producing wine in the Pfalz for five generations. Their vineyards are located on limestone-rich soils around the village of Bockenheim, in the northern part of the region, along the border of the Rheinhessen. Daniel and Jonas' father, Jürgen, always farmed their vines responsibly, but when his children took over, they immediately transitioned to organic viticulture, gaining certification in 2017. The Brothers Brand also utilize biodynamic treatments, always experimenting to discover which practices work best in their vines. All of their wines are made with little, if any, added sulfites. 

Wonderfully aromatic with lively fruit and minerality and a lovely zest and charge on the palate, perfectly balanced by the residual sugar. The Feinherb Riesling has a slight sweetness on the attack, though the sugar melds perfectly into the body, finishing dry and crisp. No fining or filtration and minimal use of sulfur.

Great color intensity. On the nose it expresses with splendid force the character of the Carménère variety, (berries, eucalyptus and leather), with notes of roasting -laurel and clove-, liquorice and pepper black. Vera Vinho Verde Rosé — Vinho Verde DOC, Portugal 2025

In 1991, this house did something no one in the Vinho Verde DOC had ever done: they made a rosé. More than three decades later, Vera remains the original — and the benchmark. The wine is built around Vinhão, a rare tinturier grape (red pulp, not just red skin) that gives the wine its striking deep color and structural backbone. Rabo de Anho — an untranslatable, rarely planted indigenous variety — rounds out the blend, adding lightness, freshness, and a delicate floral lift that keeps everything in balance. At $11.99, it is one of the most distinctive rosés in the shop.

The 2025 vintage is vivid and immediately appealing. The nose opens with fresh strawberry, watermelon, and floral notes — bright and clean. On the palate it is crisp and lightly effervescent, with juicy red fruit, a whisper of minerality, and a refreshing finish that invites another pour. It drinks like summer in a glass.
