Winemaker Description
The 2024 Roserock Pinot Noir captures the purity and tension of our Eola–Amity Hills estate. On the palate, it’s vibrant and poised, with bright acidity carrying flavors of strawberry, plum, and subtle spice. The texture is fine and supple, unfolding toward a long, graceful finish that conveys the youth and promise of this wine.
In 2024, a cool spring led to a slower start, but warm, dry conditions through summer and fall set the stage for an outstanding vintage. The vines ripened beautifully, with minimal disease pressure and ideal acidity. Harvest began on September 23 under perfect conditions. Véronique is already calling 2024 a standout year, with vibrant, balanced wines to come.
Roserock is an extraordinary vineyard at the southern tip of the Eola-Amity Hills, in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Ancient volcanic soils, an ideal elevation range, and the unique cooling effect of the Van Duzer corridor produce classic cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Roserock is LIVE-certified sustainable.

Memo Summary Notes
The 2023 Hess Select Pinot Noir is a consistent "over-performer" in the entry-level California Pinot category. Sourced primarily from the Central Coast—including the wind-swept vineyards of the Santa Lucia Highlands—this wine is designed for immediate accessibility, focusing on bright, juicy fruit rather than heavy oak.
The 2023 growing season was one of the longest and coolest in a decade for California, which allowed these delicate grapes to develop deep flavors without losing their refreshing acidity.
The Hess Select line is governed by the philosophy of "elevating the everyday." Because the Hess family maintains long-standing relationships with growers in premium sub-regions like Monterey and the Santa Lucia Highlands, they are able to bottle a wine that has the structural integrity of a $30 Pinot for roughly half the price.
-
Savory Classics: Grilled salmon with a miso glaze or a mushroom-crust quiche.

Shea Wine Cellars Estate Pinot Noir 2022 750ml
Winemaker Description
The Estate Pinot Noir is sourced from throughout Shea Vineyard, one of the most iconic vineyards in Oregon. Careful vineyard practices and restrained winemaking allow each vintage to reveal its uniqueness. The 2022 vintage finished warm and dry, allowing the fruit to achieve full ripeness and the Estate to reflect the big, concentrated style Shea Vineyard is known for.
"All Shea wines are 100% estate grown; most are single block/single clone selections. This blends grapes from the entire estate, offering a unique glimpse of the overall terroir. I’ve reviewed wines from this iconic vineyard for over two decades, and followed the estate wines almost since their first vintage. There is a special excellence that carries into Shea designates made by almost any winery. But in wines made by the estate itself there is a focus and specificity that is exceptional. Why this particular piece of land is so special is a question I’ve wondered about for years. The block and clone selections are all complete wines in and of themselves, but this estate blend captures the fullness of the whole site with black fruits, expressive oak (one third new), clean earth, barrel spice and exceptional depth." - 96 points, Paul Gregutt's Northwest Wine Guide
"This wine opens with an alluring bouquet of red and black cherries, Blood orange, walnut shells, and a hint of rosemary. The palate is supple and refined, with a medium body and a lively mouthfeel that keeps it moving and refreshing. As the wine unfolds, a subtle dried herb undertone emerges, adding an extra layer of complexity to the finish." - 94 points, International Wine Report
"Attractive nose with sour cherries, dried orange peel and dried herbs. So delicate and pure, with a medium body and zesty, tangy mouthfeel. It has a fresh, minty undertone at the end." - 93 points, jamessuckling.com

Porter Creek Estate Pinot Noir Biodynamic Russian River Valley Organic 2017 750ml
Bergstrom BERGSTROM VINEYARD Pinot Noir Biodynamic 2023 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2023
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Points | The 2023 Pinot Noir Bergström Vineyard displays a deep, jeweled ruby/magenta hue and has a more introspective profile. Notes of leather, sanguine, iron-rich earth, and cherry liqueur unfold from the glass. While it carries depth and power, it maintains the weightless feel that runs through the estate lineup. With ripe tannins, supple texture, and refreshing acidity, this is a wine worth cellaring. However, it’s already a pleasure to taste, and I imagine it will have a wide window for enjoyment over the next couple of decades.
The Wine Advocate 95 Points | The 2023 Pinot Noir Bergström Vineyard has ringing aromas of red cherry, cranberry, violet, rooibos tea and spicy, ferrous undertones. The medium-bodied palate has a silky texture and fragrant, nuanced flavors. It’s balanced by mouthwatering acidity and has a very long, detailed finish
James Suckling 95 Points | Savory and spiced, with a lot of earthy complexity, it offers wild berries, dried orange peel and subtle hints of cherries, chocolate and iodine on the nose. The palate is broad and encompassing, very textured and seamless, with a medium body and well-integrated tannins. Long, deep and complex.
Winemaker Description
Bergström Wines is one of the most unique and lauded domaines in the Willamette Valley. Dr. John Bergström’s Swedish heritage and the love he developed for the Pacific Northwest are the roots of this estate. In 1999, John and his son, Josh, established Bergström Wines. Today, Josh and Caroline, his wife and business partner, are celebrating 24 years as biodynamic growers of estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards on the finest appellations within Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
Their farming program consists of five monopole, biodynamic estate vineyards spanning 70 acres across three of the Willamette Valley’s finest and most exclusive AVA’s. Each vine is farmed without the use of harsh fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides or systemic fungicides. Instead, Josh and his farming team focus on homemade compost, homeopathic herbal and mineral teas, and regenerative agricultural practices that coax maximum expression from the unique terroir.
Memo Summary Notes
The 2023 Bergström Vineyard Pinot Noir is a powerful yet weightless estate bottling that exemplifies why the Dundee Hills is the most famous sub-appellation in Oregon. This site is the family’s original estate, a south-facing, bowl-shaped amphitheater of red Jory (volcanic) soils.
The 2023 vintage is being hailed as "opulent and complete," delivering incredible intensity without sacrificing the signature Bergström elegance.
Martin Woods Bednarik Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 750ml (Pre-Sale ETA Thursday March 19, 2026)
95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck: "Savory and bright, and coming from the Tualatin Hills, the 2022 Pinot Noir Bednarick Vineyard shows more structure than the 2023 by comparison. However, it remains light on its feet, with notes of pomegranate, dried red flowers, and dusty earth. Medium-bodied and elegant, it has finely coiled tannins and a savory mineral undertone."
93 pts Vinous Media
Drinking Window 2026 - 2034
The 2022 Pinot Noir Bednarik Vineyard opens with a dark and intense bouquet that blends cloves and allspice with dusty sage and depths of dried black cherry. Velvety in texture yet lifted in feel, the 2022 holds its power in reserve, displaying a spicy burst of tart wild berry fruits offset by a spike of zesty acidity. A staining of primary concentration adds youthful poise alongside grippy tannins as an air of lavender and licorice lingers. This is an unbridled beast. - By Eric Guido on May 2024
Winery Notes
Bednarik Vineyard is situated in the far northwest of the Willamette Valley, nestled into the foothills of Oregon's Coast Range near Cherry Grove. The microclimate here is cool and the mature self-rooted vines are patient to ripen. The well-drained marine sediments provide the vines a balanced stress, resulting in naturally-restrained yields, limited canopy growth, and lots of air flow and sun exposure, translating to Pinot noir with concentrated red fruit and distinctively energetic texture. Bednarik always presents wonderfully expressive floral and spice-driven perfume and the palate becomes increasingly silken with age. We are truly privileged to work with three of the eight total acres at this very special, mature vineyard.
Tasting Notes: Red fruits and florals, earth, cinnamon, and allspice—silken red fruit—long, energetic, resonant finish
Martin Woods Jessie James Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 750ml (Pre-Sale - ETA - Thursday March 19, 2026)
Expert Reviews
98 -Jeb Dunnuck: Rich ruby-colored but transparent, the 2022 Pinot Noir Jessie James Vineyard is beautiful in the glass, with a floral and ripe perfume offering notes of framboise, light herbal notes, wild fresh herbs, and a touch of dark black fruit coming through, with black raspberries and dark stones. On the palate, it has a rich tannin structure, a ton of clarity (as all of Evan’s wines tend to express), and a long finish. It’s going to benefit from more time. Drink 2026-2046.
97 - Decanter: "The Jessie James site is at over 200m in the Eola-Amity Hills. An eastern slope that's exposed to the cool winds of the Van Duzer Corridor. The vineyards were planted in 1996 and are organically farmed. Winemaker Evan Martin calls out the floral elements of the Jessie James as the vineyard's hallmark. A blend of Pommard, Wadenswïl, and a little bit of Dijon clone. Aromatics of violets and cherry flesh dried lavender and smoky rose petals. The aromas evolve from dried flowers to earthy and woodsy notes. Even though Martin usually uses only about 10% whole cluster in this wine, this 2022 Pinot Noir feels like it’s got more of that whole cluster's powerful freshness and vibrancy character. This is one of the lightest Pinots in the portfolio, with a chalky texture and minerality. It's giving a ton of energy. The palate shows refinement and freshness, with mouthfuls of spiced blood orange, smoky clove, and a white peppered spice to the finish.” - 2022 Vintage Report
94 - Vinous: "The 2022 Pinot Noir Jesse James Vineyard lifts from the glass with a mentholated freshness that accentuates blue/purple florals and hints of blackberry. This is pure class, silken and serene, with tart wild berries energized by brisk acidity and a saturation of crunchy minerals that builds toward the close. It leaves a flowery concentration and a staining of tart primary fruit over a bed of well-formed tannins, promising many years of positive evolution..” - August 2024
Winery Notes
The Eola-Amity Hills is situated to the immediate east of the Van Duzer Corridor, the "air-conditioning" pathway through the Coast Range where marine air enters from the west and cools the Willamette Valley. the high-density (2,400 vines/acre), four-acre planting of vines at Jessie James is east-facing at high elevation‒ripening here is patient and harvest is usually the first week of October. Furthermore, the vineyard is in a rain shadow, allowing the grapes to reach peak maturity with less risk of botrytis rot. The Nekia soil (shallow, rocky volcanic basalt) provides appropriate stress to the plants, resulting in sparse canopies and loose clusters with small berries and thick skins. The wines display exceptional depth and complexity of structure and fruit, with freshness and compact intensity. We lease the vineyard from Jessica and James Lee, from whom the vineyard takes its name, and we farm according to organic principles.
Tasting Notes: Red-black cherries, forest floor & subtle tree bark spice—elegant & balanced texture with a mouth-watering fine thread of structure, acidity and minerals framing the fruit—long, resonant finish, both complex and immediately pleasurable

The term “Trotamundos” translates to “globetrotter,” and their winemaking philosophy centers on creating wines with a global perspective, incorporating what they have learned while traveling throughout the wine world to craft unique expressions.
I recently tasted the Trotamundos Pinot Noir Single Vineyard Leyda Valley 2023 and was extremely pleased with its quality and value. This is a Pinot Noir that delivers exceptional drinkability without compromising quality. Sourced from the cool climate of Chile’s Leyda Valley, it showcases bright aromas and flavors of wild red berries—raspberries and strawberries—with a subtle hint of blue fruit as well.
On the palate, the wine is well structured, with vibrant red berry fruit, well-integrated acidity, and mild tannins that lead to effortless drinkability. A stony minerality adds depth and naturally complements the fruit profile. The finish is clean and refreshing, with bright, palate-cleansing acidity.
This wine is very food-friendly. I suggest pairing it with Latin-inspired dishes, grilled skirt steak, or crab-stuffed cannelloni.

St. Innocent Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard McMinnville Biodynamic 2021 750ml
If you love ripe blackberries, you will fall head over heels for the way this wine smells. The berries are joined by aromas of cherry blossoms, wet stones and a touch of seared steak. There’s balance here, with silky tannins and snappy acidity backing flavors like blackcap raspberries, orange zest and cedarwood.
Points Vinous Media | The 2021 Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard shows the dark nature of the variety, mixing depths of crushed blackberry with hints of pine, rosemary and dusty earth. This is a model of elegance on the palate, velvety in texture yet lifted in feel, with silken wild berry fruits and minty herb tones neatly balanced by cool-toned acidity. Notes of blood orange emerge toward the close as the Momtazi finishes tannic and crunchy in feel, leaving the mouth watering for more.
Points Jeb Dunnuck |The 2021 Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard comes from a site located in the McMinnville AVA and biodynamically farmed and owned by Maysara. It pours a touch brighter but similar shade of red to the Temperance Hill and offers more lifted notes of dried cranberries, brighter spice, orange peel, and cocoa nib. It’s medium-bodied, with a more floating and linear feel, an approachable texture, fine tannins, and a pleasing fruity and floral feel, with a light spice lasting through the finish. It’s an elegant wine to drink now or over the coming 7-8 years. It saw 16 months in 20% new French oak barrels, and 1071 cases were produced.
Winemaker's Notes
Momtazi Vineyard is located in the McMinnville AVA, 7 miles west of McMinnville, Oregon. The grapes for this wine come from four blocks at the top of the vineyard on steep, exposed and windblown hillsides. The vineyard is certified biodynamic by Demeter.
Momtazi is our most textural, umami, wine. Lovely aromas of spice, smoky earth, and dried black fruit. Quite elegant on the mid palate with the finish blossoming to more floral notes with hints of cocoa powder. Will pair beautifully with winter stews and roasted vegetables. Great with cassoulet and mushroom dishes.
