Pinot Noir Wine
Pinot Noir has been grown in Burgundy France for more than a thousand years, so it's no wonder some people feel that it doesn't reach the same heights anywhere else. Now, however, people in areas such as Oregon and California are finding that they can make terrific Pinot Noir without needing a close comparison to Burgundy.
Pinot Noir is often called the "Heartache Grape", because its thin skins leave it susceptible to mildew and rot. When grown with less than total care, Pinot Noir can be a watery, tart disappointment. When done right, however, the wines are rich, elegant and seductive.
