Light pink evanescent froth and fine and persistent perlage. The color is light red with violet hues, the perfume of flowers (violets) and red fruits is ample and intense, and the flavor is full and dry with a fruity aroma and an engaging slightly acidulous aftertaste.

Lambrusco, a lightly sparkling, slightly sweet red wine is served well-chilled, and so is a godsend in the summer, when simpler fare, especially grilled or cured meats, call for a similarly light-hearted wine.

The 2019 Bernardot is dark and austere with wonderful nuances of ripe red fruit. Tannins are very silky and delicate in this 2019, showing a lot of finesse, typical from the Barbaresco area. It’s an elegant and very expressive Barbaresco. One of the favorite vineyards of winemaker Alessandro Ceretto.

Wine Advocate Monica Larner 95 Points writes | The organic Ceretto 2019 Barbaresco Bernadot shows a broader character and a more open-knit personality compared to the Asili. There is a lot of dark fruit, spice, truffle and earth to frame the medium-build of this elegant wine.  (2019).

A delicate infusion of white peach, flower blossom and freshly spiced marjoram, with after notes of fresh thyme. A sweet, mouth-coating flavor with hints of fruit, vanilla bean and cinnamon, and a bittersweet persistent finish.

Decanter 91 Points | The oldest producer in Emilia, Cleto Chiarli is better known for producing high-quality Lambrusco Secco, but this Grasparossa Amabile is just as captivating. Round and creamy but not cloying, touches of pepper and cinnamon complicate cherry jam flavours. Excellent acidity keeps the residual sugar in balance, underpinning a savoury and slightly grippy finish.

A semi-sweet wine of an intense red color. The wine has very fruity aromas and all the grape fragrances can be felt. Lively and fading bubbles are of a marked rose color. Its smoothness makes it surprisingly pleasant, though avoiding excesses. A captivating wine.

Paired well with traditional cuisine from Emilia, it is also a wonderful accompaniment to desserts.

Vermouth Amaro Cocchi has been created according to the original recipe by Giulio Cocchi where Artemisia was enriched with rhubarb, quassia wood, chiretta and a double infusion of cinchona. The addition of Barolo Chinato to the base wine gives delicately red nuances and a further soft and complex note – totally Cocchi style.

Cocchi Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry, released on the year of Cocchi’s 130th anniversary, is a classic-style dry vermouth from the birthplace of vermouth, Piemonte. Though the old classic dry vermouths that became so popular for their use in the Dry Martini were traditionally produced in the Southeast of France, in recent years the major players of the Torino vermouth category have produced a spin on the category all their own. Cocchi was long a hold out, but no longer. 

“Ricetta Piemontese”(Piedmontese recipe), stated on the label, is a very precise indication of the content: all the relevant ingredients for this vermouth come from Piemonte and have a strong bond with the region.

The wine used for this vermouth is Cortese, the same grape used for Gavi DOCG. The Artemisia Absinthium (wormwood), is 100% from Piemonte mountains. The aromatic profile is also characterized by Menta di Pancalieri, a local variety of peppermint, and lemon, traditionally used to garnish vermouths of all styles in Piedmont.

Vermouth di Torino is a collective heritage of Piedmont, which sees in the royal Savoy court as first big promoter of a product which, mainly starting from the late XVIII century, generated a flourishing industry which led Piedmont to become the Kingdom of Vermouth. 

Notes of cocoa, rhubarb, dandelion, caramel, and orange peel deliver a rich and refined character.

Producer Description 

The last remaining example of appellation Vermouth di Torino to comply with all of the classical requirements, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino has been produced since 1891. Cocchi uses estate Moscato as the wine base, and vibrant, spicy botanicals such as cocoa, citrus, ginger, and rhubarb.

In contrast with other popular Italian vermouths, Cocchi Vermouth di Torino retains wines of Piedmont as the base and avoids a heavy sheen of vanilla or caramel that clashes with other cocktail ingredients. Delicious when poured on ice and a small lemon zest, but also an essential base for the creation of the most classic cocktails from Negroni to Manhattan. Cocchi has produced wine-based aperitifs and traditional Piemontese sparkling wines since 1891.

Giulio Cocchi was a young and creative pastry chef from Florence, where he worked in a popular bar located in Piazza del Duomo. In the late nineteenth century he moved to Asti, a small but lively town in northwest Italy, not far from Torino, and established himself as a distiller and winemaker.

Eric Guido writes: Brown spice, crushed fall leaves cherry sauce and a lifting hint of fresh mint form a darkly alluring bouquet as the 2015 Montefalco Sagrantino Memoira opens in the glass. This washes across the palate with a velvety wave of ripe red and black fruits, underscored by saline minerals and a burst of spiced citrus. Long and potent, the 2015 leaves a web of fine tannins that are surprisingly sweet and round, nicely framing the notes of sour wild berries and dark chocolate that linger. - Vinous 92

James Suckling writes: The candied strawberries and caramelized orange peel draw you in on the nose; then you notice hints of ash and red licorice. Jeff Porter of the Wine Enthusiast writes 92 Points | Inky dark-violet notes, both fresh and dried, dominate the nose, accompanied by an abundance of plum and blackberry aromas. On the palate, rich, succulent, and mouthwatering black cherries and currants take center stage, creating a wine that truly tastes you back. Zippy acidity and fine tannins provide a well-balanced structure, making this Lambrusco a delightful and engaging.  

Natalie MacLean writes 89 Points | From the Emilia-Romagna wine region, Medici Ermete & Figli Arte E Concerto 2023 Lambrusco is lovely and fragrant with pink and blue florals, bright cherry, red and dark berry flavours delivered on a fresh and fizzy mousse. Lovely balance on this Lambrusco Reggiano with a gentle sweetness and rich dark and red fruit flavours. Chill and enjoy on its own or with a charcuterie platter.

Concerto is the world’s first single vineyard vintage Lambrusco. A sparkling dry red wine, its lively bubbles are achieved through natural fermentation. Grapes from the prestigious Tenuta La Rampata vineyard are farmed organically on Cordone Speronato (cordon trained and spur pruned) vines in clay soil with highly limited yields. The wine is best served at a temperature of 47 to 49 degrees Fahrenheit and should be consumed within two years of vintage.

Bart Hopkins 67Wine.com | A lighter, brighter snappier rendition of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo that offers easy, uncomplicated sipping and food friendliness. Brambly aromas of cranberry, strawberry blossoms, red apple skin and rose petals are accented with spicy notes of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon stick. Crisp and juicy in the mouth with good acidity keeping it lively and agile and moderate tannins that drive it energetically into the finish. A great wine for pizza and pasta, and just about anything else.

Made In Italy. The boot lever locks up straight during insertion. With the spiral fully inserted into the cork, the first step extracts about 7/8” of the cork. Press the boot lever in and the second lever pulls the rest of the cork straight out. The secret is the “crescent” in the handle that keeps the spring loaded floating axis in a vertical position.

Expert Review - Vintage 2019

Danielle Callegari of the WIne Enthusiast writes 88 Points | Hot chili peppers burst off the nose of this Nero d'Avola, lifted by wood smoke, macerated blackberries and bitter chocolate. Spiciness carries over to the palate, with notes of black pepper and tomato-pepper jam, but also more berries and some tobacco leaf. Tannins are firm but polished.

James Suckling 91 Points | A delicious, round and silky white with aromas of fresh lemons, white peaches and warm spices on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with moderate acidity. Supple, with a mineral undertone at the center and a succulent finish.

Insolia grapes are manually selected in the Nordic microclimate of Ficuzza, Cusumano's largest vineyard, located in Northern Sicily. Light straw color with soft aromas of freshly-picked flowers and herbs. This Insolia opens the palate with refreshing flavors of apples and pears. Hints of citrus zest lingers throughout for a harmonious balance.

Expert Review - Vintage 2022

Vinous 91 Points | The 2022 Rosso di Montepulciano is rosy and floral with a licorice tinge that complements its crushed raspberry fruits. Round and balanced with a pleasant inner sweetness and crisp red berry fruits, this washes easily across the palate, leaving a gentle tug of fine tannin in its wake. Hard candy and sweet sage notes stick around as the 2022 tapers off with fantastic length and youthful poise. Nicely done. Caterina Dei explained that Cantine Dei can’t produce enough of their Rosso to meet demand, and it’s easy to see why.

A warm and soothing perfume of balsam and mint, balanced with aromas of bitter oils, orange zest, and vanilla. Vermouth del Professore Rosso is full and soft on the palate with a pleasant balsamic character underlined by rhubarb and gentian which are balanced by subtle sweetness and a light tannin structure from time spent in barrel. Expert Review - Vintage 2023 

Eric Guido writes of Vinous 90 Points | The 2023 Anthìlia is remarkably pretty, blending white flowers, freshly sliced pears and hints of wet stone. This is silky-smooth with nearly oily textures, offset by a twang of sour citrus and crunchy orchard fruit. The finish is perfumed and crisply refreshing, wrapping things up with a lime and mineral tinge that calls the taster back to the glass.  Drinking 2024 to 2026.

Wine Enthusiast 90 Points | The nose has energetic, sunny aromas of lemon, lime, white peaches, orange blossoms and crushed rock, while the palate stays warm, citrus and saline but with the fresh bite of Mediterranean herbs. You will (and should) feel virtuous with the ultrasustainable packaging, but beyond that, the light bottle and twist top make it an ideal companion for a day at the beach, where Sicilian whites shine. Anthìlia 2023 has a yellow straw color. The nose offers a fresh and fragrant bouquet with notes of white pulp fruit combined with hints of wildflowers. In the mouth, we find the evident fruity note, refreshed by a pleasant savoriness. The finish has good persistence.

Perfect with various appetizers, with crudities and fried fish, and vegetable casseroles; also try it with fresh cheese and white meats.
