We can hardly wait for the release of our 2020 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon later this month. Non-chill filtered and bottled at a 111.4 proof, the special bottling features four different hand-selected batches aged 12 to 19 years. These batches represent four of our distillery’s 10 distinct Bourbon recipes – a 12-year-old Bourbon from the OBSV recipe, a 12-year-old OESV, a 16-year-old OESK, and a 19-year-old OBSK.

Master Distiller Brent Elliott says, “Each batch in this year’s limited edition bottling is an exceptional whiskey that could have stood on its own as a single barrel offering, but in this case the sum is even greater than the parts. Winemaker Description 

Sourced from a 1981 vineyard 30km north of Clanwilliam, 20 months in first fill Austrian oak foudre.

These grapes are from a farm in the hills north west of Clanwilliam. Red sandy soils and struggling vines, battling for survival. But grapes, like most other living things, tend to be at their strongest when they are fighting for survival.

The 2017 vintage is for my money the best vintage I’ve encountered in my 23 years of making wine. Every year I would strive to make a balanced wine, but in 2017 there was a natural balance that came out of the vineyard. It sounds all very hocus pocus and don’t ask me to explain it, but that’s the way it was. Enjoy now or over the next 20 years.

Francesc Ricart Brut is a cava made following its Traditional Method in the most representative area of the DO Cava, which is the region of Penedes and Sant Sadurní d´Anoia.

A careful selection of the best Xarel-lo, Macabeo and Perellada local varieties and a meticulous winemaking process -the second fermentation and the subsequent ageing take place in the bottle- are the basis of this cava. This cava respects the essence of a traditional brut and it is a fresh and easy-drinking wine.

Francesco Rinaldi’s estate was first founded back in 1870, when he inherited a plot of land and vineyard house in the heart of Barolo. Though Francesco’s family wasn’t new to the winemaking game-- his cousin, Giuseppe RInaldi, was also producing great Piemontese reds that were completely shaking up the scene. Today, F. Rinaldi wines are produced only from organic fruit and are some of the best deals coming out of the region’s top growing sites.

Wine Advocate 93 Points | Revealing an open-knit and immediately welcoming personality the Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2015 Barolo Cannubi offers a good taste of that inner sunshine and warmth that so beautifully defines this vintage. The Cannubi vineyard is one of the first sites to ripen and the wines tend to show enormous elegance and Nebbiolo fruit purity. This vintage is particularly successful in its showing of wild berry fruit rose hip and chopped mint. The tannins are silky and fine.

Vinous 93 Points | Today the 2015 Barolo Cannubi is an elegant classy wine. The Cannubi also seems to have handled the heat of the summer more gracefully than the Brunate. Silky and sensual the 2015 is very attractive today. The aromatics are perhaps just a touch forward but the 2015 makes up for that with its suave inviting personality. Crushed flowers mint licorice and sweet berry fruit add to the wine's charm. I wouldn't push my luck on aging too much but the 2015 is undeniably appealing. -- Antonio Galloni

Wine Advocate 97 Points | The Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2016 Barolo Riserva Cannubi is a classic beauty with thin, delicate lines that frame a core of profound and very elegant fruit. You can attribute many descriptors to the bouquet, from wild berry, pressed rose, earth, rust, crushed rock and light spice. But no one aroma out-powers the next, and together they work in careful harmony. It's also important to point out the quality of the tannins in this Riserva, which remain elegant and firm. This bottle is a great candidate for long cellar aging. 97+ (ML) (8/2022).

Black raspberry fruit is balanced by savory meat characteristics. Fine and abundant tannins are starting to soften and the wine will continue to improve for several years.

After 10 years in contact with the oak, Armagnac starts to take on the aromas of ageing. The fruit that is still present, is accompanied by the first aromas of soft spices such as liquorice and cinnamon. Still quite fiery, this eau de vie will become more complex after a few minutes breathing in your glass.

Guy Deyres worked in the Bas Armagnac region for almost 40 years before passing on his passion for and the secrets of his craft to his son Jean-Luc, the current owner of Domaine de Rieston. Domaine Au Martin, with its sandy soils and baco grapes, is located in the ‘magical’ Grand Bas Armagnac sector and we consider ourselves lucky to exclusively present its armagnacs. Fully respect each vintage’s respective terroir and ensure its perfect expression.
No blending of domains or vintages in order to preserve the specificities,
No « reduction » that would dilute the alcoholic or aromatic strength and the nuances of the terroir by adding « petites eaux » in order to not betray the typicalities.

Each Bas-Armagnac is strictly itself, with the name of the domain of origin, its vintage and the bottling date which tells its real age as eaux-de-vie stop aging once bottle.

The color of this 1996 vintage is gold with pretty brown highlights. Nose: The nose is very fruity carried by notes of quince, fig, orange jam and verbena. Tannins on the palate that are still young but very delicate. Finale: A beautiful length in the mouth characterizes this Darroze 1996 Armagnac.

Bas-Armagnac, whose capital is Eauze, is to the west of the appellation. It runs in the Landes and the western part of the Gers. It represents 67% of the areas identified in Armagnac. In this part of the land, the soils are sandy loam, called “tawny sands”. Bas-Armagnac eaux-de-vie are delicate and very fruity.

Slow-building tannins grow on a strikingly long, focused finish that strongly echoes the licorice and mineral notes.

Smoke- and mineral-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of botanical herbs, violet, smoked meat and cracked pepper. Lithe and gently chewy in texture, offering appealingly sweet, spice-tinged dark berry, kirsch and floral pastille flavors that are braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Franck Balthazar is yet another tiny domaine in the region whose wines have become highly sought-after over the last decade; worldwide demand now far exceeds production. Predictably, market prices reflect this growth. Balthazar is a fastidious farmer and careful winemaker, which has earned him tremendous respect from his neighbors on the Cornas hill. All whole clusters are used here, no new oak, and as little sulfur as possible. If you ever encounter the unsulfured “Sans Soufre” Cornas bottlings in France, especially at any restaurants in the area, jump on them, as they are amazing but generally don’t hold up to extended shipping journeys. It’s a very strong case for the “drink local” argument. The 2020s have turned out fantastic.

Highly perfumed, mineral-accented red and dark berry liqueur, candied violet, smoky bacon and Moroccan spice qualities on the nose, along with olive and black pepper nuances. Offers vibrant, palate-staining and spice-laced cassis, bitter cherry, floral pastille and smoky mineral flavors that show impressive depth and a bracing undercurrent of juicy acidity. Minerality, purity as well as a tasty chalky appearance come out of this delicious bottle, perfectly suited for an aperitif and to awaken the taste buds. aromas of citrus fruits (lemon, grapefruit) and green apple marry with distinction with very fine bubbles giving the whole thing an extremely airy side. pleasant. A superb Blanc de Blancs to put in everyone’s mouth !

Winemaker Description

The vineyard has been farmed organically for several years and is officially AB certified since 2017. Conversion to biodynamics in 2020. Depending on the soil, cover crops are planted between the vines in some parcels.

Down each row, grass is kept mowed, and hoeing is done to remove weeds between each vine. Debudding in Spring. A green harvest is carried out every year. Grapes are 100% hand-harvested and rigorously sorted. Grapes are carried to the cellar in a bin fitted with a vibrating system; that and a vibrating table and the care of 5 to 6 persons ensure grapes are sorted before being destemmed.

Fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with natural yeasts starts after a cold maceration. Tank time lasts 20 to 25 days depending on the vintage. This wine is aged in ‘tronc conique’ oak vats for 18 months. No fining, filtering done on cellulose plates.

1948 is the second release from Frank August ‘Case Study’ program, a reflection of our intention to reconsider and evolve the identity of bourbon whiskey. This successional release continues to be an exploration of various finishing and blending techniques to create some of the most unique experimental expressions of bourbon whiskey in the world.

The 10 beautifully rare brandy casks that Case Study: 02 were finished in, were first filled in 1992 with very old Pedro Ximenez for 17 years. 30 years of considered and incomparable aging, before they made their way into our hands in Kentucky Still ‘wet’, we immediately filled them with hand-selected barrels of Frank August Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. From there, we began tasting them every 20 days for an undisclosed amount of time until each barrel reached the ideal taste and flavor profile we are proud to now introduce.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: A deep auburn with viscous legs that decorate the glass.

Nose: Opens with notes of baked peaches and dark chocolate, before hints of allspice and oak gradually present themselves.

Palate: Sweet entry with subtle spice that builds. Well balanced flavors of fruit, spice and brown sugar begin to develop with a viscosity that is rich and warming. Notes of brandy are clearly present, but restrained, and don’t dominate the senses.

Finish: Full and brought with a medium finish that lingers just enough. At 101.0 proof, the finish is warm and beautifully balanced.

The light skin contact we apply on our white wines results in a combination of density as well as elegance and makes this wine very suited to accompany a wide variety of dishes and cuisine, from fish to white meat.

The vineyards (Calderara, Borriglione, Crasà and Picciolo) are located between 620 and 750 m. asl with. A blend of 50% Grecanico Dorato and 50% Carricante. Producer Description.

The first bottlings of our MunJebel rosso classico were blends of 2 vintages which I have always liked as it gives a good idea of a larger area instead of a vintage wine. When I stopped blending vintages as of the 2012 vintage to search for more precision, I kind of missed the evolved “old-school” style of the first wines I produced and so I decided in 2016 to produce a similar style wine again, applying the “perpetual” method of great solera wines.

The first edition will be a blend of 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. We will be bottling 25% of this first edition in 2021 and adding the selected wine of the 2020 vintage to fill up the tank again. Perpetuum is born! Winemaker Description.
