Domaine du Pelican Arbois Chardonnay 2021 750ml
Domaine du Pelican Arbois Trois Cepages 2021 750ml
Winemaker Description
Guillaume d'Angerville's interest in the Jura wine region was awakened by a Parisian sommelier who served him a Chardonnay from this area "blind" a few years ago. Angerville was convinced that he had a Burgundy in his glass, and the surprise was great when the wine was unveiled.
This experience sparked the idea of running a second winery next to his famous domaine in Volnay. Together with his long-time oenologist François Duvivier, with the advice of a geologist, he searched and investigated very specifically and found a 10-hectare winery in Montigny-les-Arsures in the Arbois appellation and presented the first wines with the 2012 vintage, which immediately caused great interest in the international wine scene.
The Domaine du Pélican, named after the heraldic animal of Arbois, produces only three wines, a mineral Chardonnay, a characterful, non-oxidative (“ouillé”) Savagnin and a regionally typical red wine cuvée made from approx. 2/3 Pinot Noir as well as parts of Trousseau and Pulsard.

Nicolas Greinacher writes: Ripe red fruits, dried herbs and a pinch of white pepper introduce the 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is pale, ruby-colored, medium to full-bodied and concentrated. Inviting and round, this 2021 red is neatly balanced by refreshing acidity and closes with a bright finish. Drinking 2024 - 2033. - Vinous 90
Domaine du Vieux Lazaret Chateuneuf du Pape ROUGE 2022 375ml HALF BOTTLE
Expert Review - Vintage 2022
James Suckling 91 Points | Candied cherries, sweet cranberries and a touch of stewed herbs. Lightly chewy in terms of tannins, with a fluid center palate and a medium-length finish. A bit overripe, but approachable. A good, simple Chateauneuf that shows early appeal.

Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf-Du-Pape La Crau ROUGE 2020 375ml HALF BOTTLE
Points James Suckling | This amazing Chateauneuf-du-Pape squares the circle of southern richness and spring-like freshness in spite of coming from a very warm and dry vintage. The stony minerality, saltiness and dried flower character wind together to form a dynamic whole, driving this gracefully across the palate. But I must also mention the savory and licorice richness that is so deftly wrapped around them. Very long, salty and velvety finish.
Robert Parker | Tasted as a tank sample of the final blend, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau is a blend of approximately 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and 5% other permitted varieties, with about 30% whole bunches used in the ferments. Marked by ripe cherries and hints of complex garrigue notes on the nose, it's full-bodied but also really elegant, with fine-grained, silky tannins, ample concentration and a long, surprisingly crisp finish. Range: 93-95
PointsThe domaine’s old vines in the terroir of La Crau produce some of the most exciting Grenache in the world, and the select blending of their other native grapes, along with a long, patient aging process in large, oval foudre casks, produces the magic of Vieux Télégraphe. This classic opens with a voluptuous aroma that gives and gives—it is striking because of its charm and floral notes. How many Châteauneufs can boast of those two traits? Winemaker Description.
Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Biodynamic 2020 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2020
Wine Advocate 95 Points | The 2020 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is no less impressive. Exhibiting aromas of plums, red berries and cassis mingled with orange rind, cinnamon, vanilla pod and spices, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a concentrated core of fruit, lively acids and a long, rose-inflected finish.
Barrel Sample: 95-97 Burghound 94 Points | This is aromatically similar to the Clos St. Denis but even more floral. Here too there is a wonderfully attractive mouthfeel on the powerful, muscular and dense broad-shouldered flavors that are also blessed with an abundance of dry extract that buffers the massively persistent finale. This terrific effort is a blend of power and refinement and a wine that should age accordingly. A "wow" wine and on the better wines of the vintage.
Barrel Sample: 94-97Decanter 97 Points | Complex and aromatically nuanced, showing well-developed plummy fruit, with accents of earth, leather, smoke and spice. The initial feel on the palate is tannic and concentrated, but the wine is still approachable and supple, with a lovely, long line to the lingering finish. Superb wine. Dujac owns nearly 2ha here, scattered across six parcels and five of the different lieux-dits, including the original Clos de la Roche, Les Froichots, Les Fremières, Monts Luisants and Les Chabiots, giving a balanced view of this grand cru.
Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Biodynamic 2022 750ml
Expert Review
Burghoud Allen Meadows 93-96 Points | An expressive, ripe and airy nose features the relatively primary essence of plum liqueur, kirsch, spice and earth notes. The strikingly intense and sleek larger-bodied flavors possess only average concentration yet there is impressive power on the moderately austere and beautifully long finish that tightens up noticeable as it sits on the palate. I suspect that this will flesh out and add richness with time in bottle though like several wines in the range, this is going to require extended patience.
Domaine Dujac Morey Saint Denis Biodynamic 2022 750ml
Our Professional Review
Burghound Allen Meadows | Ripe yet very fresh aromas include those of red and dark pinot fruit along with floral top notes, in particular violet. The vibrant and delicious, if not especially dense, middleweight flavors conclude in a dusty and lingering finish that flirts with rusticity. Solid quality here in a package that should reward mid-term keeping.
Domaine Dujac Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts Biodynamic 2020 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2020
Wine Spectator 93 Points | The 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts opens in the glass with notes of plums and wild berries mingled with aromas of orange oil, exotic spices, smoked duck and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, layered and muscular, it's finer-boned and less overtly powerful than its 2019 and 2018 predecessors, even if it's still a serious, structured, concentrated wine.
Barrel Sample: 93-95 Burghound 93 Points | This is the first wine to show any appreciable reduction though the whole cluster vinification does peek through the funk. Once again, the bigger-bodied and much more muscular flavors possess a highly attractive texture thanks to the generous dry extract that partially buffers the prominent tannic spine supporting the robust, powerful and gorgeously complex and persistent finish. This is a classic Malconsorts which is very much built to reward longer-term cellaring.
Barrel Sample: 93-95 Decanter 96 Points | A dense, almost creamy, concentrated cassis fruit, adorned with notes of smoke, spice and salt. Focused, with plenty of tannin and extract, this is a wonderful wine. 2020 saw tiny yields from Dujac's 1.55ha in Malconsorts - no more than 10-15 hl/ha. The fruit was partially destemmed and fermented slowly prior to ageing. The wine gets the same 16 months in 70% new casks that the grand crus receive.

2019 was a beautiful year for grape growing in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The winter was generous with moisture and coolness. The spring was stormy in May, but the late-season Bordeaux varieties escaped harm and set a modest crop. The harvest schedule was more typical and started in late September and into October, which was encouraging.
This wine is a composite of our appellation, produced from five distinct vineyards. All of them are a short distance from Domaine Eden, with our staff farming the majority. When we started this in 1999, we wanted to offer a wine reflecting our region, which is unlike any other. A coastal, high elevation, Cabernet-based Bordeaux blend made to the Mount Eden style--structured and terroir-driven--that is also ageable and affordable.
All fermentations were indigenous, with no fining or filtration. There are loamy earth scents along with currant, blackberry and cedar. The palate is bright with blue fruit, acidity and balanced tannins. A good cellar choice for the next 7-12 years.

Domaine Fontaine Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet ROUGE 2020 750ml
Expert Reviews
Vinous 88 Points | The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge offers lilting red cherry and wildstrawberry scents on the nose, hints of rose petal coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with fine definition, lightly spiced, quite energetic on the finish. This is very elegant for Chassagne Rouge.
Domaine Fontaine Gagnard Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chenes 2021 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2021
Allen Meadows Burghound | A restrained if extremely pretty nose is comprised by cool notes of red cherry, violet and a hint of crushed anise. There is both good detail and punch to the beautifully textured medium weight flavors that flash more evident minerality on the youthfully austere and tautly muscular finale that offers very good if not distinguished persistence. Like any self-respecting example of Clos des Chênes, this is going to require at least a few years of patience and should ultimately repay up to a decade of keeping.
Domaine Fouassier La Garenne Sancerre Organic Biodynamic 2022 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2022
Wine Enthusiast 91 Points | Just-ripened fruit flavors jump out of the glass of this Sancerre including peach stone fruit, dried mango, quince and lemon citrus. Stoniness on the midpalate is enlivened by supportive acidity. Confidently pair with seafood and sautéed dishes including breaded chicken.
Winemaker Description
Located in the limestone-chalk terroir of Bourges in the Sancerre appellation, this winery is among the most beautiful in the region. Its vineyard is biodynamically cultivated.
The Fouassier family is one of the oldest winegrowing families in the village of Sancerre. Benoit and Paul Fouassier, cousins at the head of the estate today, are the 10th generation of Fouassier to have worked the estate's vines since 1742. The Fouassier family pioneered vinification by lieu-dit in the early 1980s. Since then, their work has focused on selecting the best parcels to express in the bottle the taste of the terroir on which the vines flourish. All work is carried out as naturally as possible, which is why the estate turned to organic and biodynamic farming over 15 years ago.
Domaine Francois Carillon Puligny Montrachet 2022 750ml
Aromas of ripe citrus fruit, spices and honeycomb. Pungent aromas of petrol, resin, rosemary oil and citrus precede the juicy, succulent and fleshy medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate volume before terminating in a balanced and delicious finale.
This relatively forward effort isn't refined though it stops short of being rustic. Winemaker Description.
Domaine Francois Lamarche Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2021 750ml
Expert Review
Burghound | Note: from 3 different parcels measuring 1.36 ha, two at the bottom in Baudes Basses and another at the top in Montiotes Hautes Moderate reduction dominates the fruit though there is a lovely sense of underlying tension and freshness to the succulent, palate coating and powerful medium weight flavors that also conclude in a chalky, sappy and lingering finale. This is also going to need at least some patience as it's presently quite tightly wound.
Domaine Francois Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru Monopole 2015 750ml.
Expert Review
Vinous 94 Points | This perfumed beauty displays fireworks in a glass with its kaleidoscopic nose of super spicy, floral and cool red and dark berry nose. The middle weight flavors are less concentrated and powerful than those of the Grands Ech but markedly finer with a caressing and sophisticated mouthfeel that carries over to the rich finish that once again tightens up noticeably on the impeccably well-balanced and strikingly persistent finish. While at least some patience will also be required this classy effort should be approachable sooner than the Grands Ech.
Domaine Francois Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru Monopole 2016 750ml.
Expert Reviews
Burghound Allen Meadows 95 Points | A subtle touch of wood serves as a suitably discreet backdrop for the exceptionally floral-infused and perfumed nose that offers up additional notes of spice, red currant and pekoe tea. The round, refined and lilting if impressively intense flavors are blessed with excellent punch and power while exhibiting a lovely salinity on the built-to-age finish. This refined effort is very classy, indeed the word Zen comes up mind.
Neal Martin of Vinous 95 Points | The 2016 La Grande Rue Grand Cru has a very pure, almost pastille-like bouquet with copious red cherry fruit mixed with crushed strawberry and a little cassis. La Grande Rue? [Post script: Bingo!] The palate is very pretty with fine-grain tannin. This is surfeit with freshness and vitality, although it does not quite have the depth and structure of other Grand Crus from the appellation. It does fan out towards the finish. The persistence, and the saline aftertaste are very appealing. Excellent. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
Jasper Morris 94-97 Points | A little more density to the colour. Impressive intensity of floral notes, even some slightly darker fruit notes for a change. Fine density to this, as discreet as you want up front, but nonetheless more detail than the earlier wines, very silky texture across the middle, not an extra burst of intensity but still a thread of velvet which endures for much longer. Red fruits, not quite the blood orange I have noted in some vintages, and certainly the exquisite elegance that Nicole is searching for. Very classy, is it quite intense enough? The little traces of acidity are entirely woven in, a faint sign of whole bunch in the final texture. Fruit comes back behind. You could miss the point of this or adore it. Tasted: October 2017
Domaine Francois Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru MONTEE DE TONNERRE 2021 750ml
Expert Review
Vinous 93 Points | The 2021 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru, of which half comprises fruit from the Chapelots climat, has a delightful oyster shell-infused bouquet that blossoms in the glass – citrus peel intermixed with orange zest. The palate is very well-balanced, with a little more weight and concentration than the Butteaux. It is taut and linear, with a lick of salinity on the finish. Excellent.
Domaine Francois Raveneau Petit Chablis 2021 1.5 Liter MAGNUM
Decanter | From vines grown on the plateau above Les Clos, this is a great introduction to the Raveneau style.
Expert Reviews
Decanter 91 Points | Raveneau’s Petit Chablis comes from relatively recently planted vines (2010) located high on the plateau above the grand cru. So clean, vibrant and precise. Crystal clear in character. This is certainly not a heavyweight but is a memorable example of the appellation. The wine will be bottled in Spring 2023. Aged in oak (400/500l old wood) which adds an extra level of roundness and suppleness to the wine. A very fine Petit Chablis. (2021).
John Gilman 90 Points | This has excellent depth for a Petit Chablis, as well as lovely mineral undertow and backend lift and has to be one of the wines to search out for dipping into the vintage in its first blush of youth. The bouquet is really pretty, wafting from the glass in a mix of lemon, apple, a lovely base of chalky soil tones, white flowers and a nice touch of citrus zest in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and has excellent mineral undertow, with a lovely core of fruit, superb acids and grip and a long, complex and quite lovely finish. This is very fine. (Drink between 2023-2035). (2021).
Burghound | Note: from a .82 ha holding There is plenty of maritime character to the pretty green fruit and citrus scents. There is impressive density and solid underlying tension to the utterly delicious middleweight flavors that conclude in a crisp, stony and refreshing finale. This should drink well after only 2 to 3 years of keeping. (2021).
Vinous | The 2021 Petit Chablis has an attractive bouquet that could dupe you into thinking there are light red fruits (white tipped strawberries) here. The palate is well balanced with good weight, just a touch of bitter lemon with a linear finish that is lifted by the acidity. This is a fine Petit Chablis. (2021).
Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau Macon Villages Clos Saint Pancras Organic 2023 750ml
Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau is a small estate run by two talented winemakers, Frantz Chagnoleau and his wife Caroline Gon (winemaker at Héritiers du Comte Lafon). As good a Macon as you will find.
Expert Notes
Neal Martin writes: The 2022 Mâcon-Villages Clos Saint-Pancras, which had just been bottled, comes from 3.55 hectares of east-facing vines on soils akin to Clessé. Matured in foudres for nine months with SO2 added after malo and before bottling. It has a very elegant and precise bouquet, which offers subtle leesy scents. The palate is underpinned by a fine line of acidity, concentrated yet tensile, with fresh pear and lemon thyme notes on the finish. As good a Mâcon-Villages, you will find any year. - Vinous 91

Domaine Gasnier Sparkling La Cravacantine Methode Traditionelle Rose 2021 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2021
The Wine Advocate 93 Points | The NV Vin Mousseux Brut Methode Traditionelle La Cravantine is a pale rosé colored Cabernet Franc sparkling wine with a very delicate mousse. Fermented on the bottle with its own residual sugar from the first alcohol fermentation and after at least one year sur lattes, the wine opens with an intense yet fine and elegant brioche and ripe apple bouquet. On the palate, this is an intense, round and textural, highly delicate fizz with a super elegant and refined mousse and a long, intense and aromatic, sustainably structured finish. A fabulous wine for aperitifs, breakfasts and desserts. 12% alcohol.
Winemaker Description
This exquisite Cab Franc rose is both serious and delicious. Notes of strawberry and white peach but very clean and mineral on the palette with a wonderfully long finish.
Domaine Gilbert Picq Chablis 2023 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2023
Vinous 88-90 Points | The 2023 Chablis Village was assembled for my visit by Didier Picq from 10 vats. It has an attractive if light bouquet with apple blossom and fresh pear aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a little creaminess towards the finish. This will drink well for 4-6 years.
Winemaker Description
Quintessential Chablis full of flinty seashell essence. Steely, focused and mineral-laden. Extremely age-worthy.
