Decanter 95 Points | If it’s good enough for James Bond, it’s good enough for you. Bollinger Champagne has made a number of cameos in James Bond films over the year. This non-vintage Special Cuvée is an example of a classic Champagne done well. Notes of marzipan on the nose and the palate give toastiness and leesy notes, specifically sourdough. It’s classic for a reason and would only elevate any table it finds itself on.

Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points | A rich though youthful golden hue, the NV Champagne Special Cuvee Brut is classic and ripe with lush, rounded, and complex aromas of golden apricot, hazelnut, wet stone, and black cherry. Made with 45% of the wine coming from the 2019 vintage, with 55% reserve wine, it’s full-bodied yet elegant and light on its feet, with a ripe and luxurious feel and just a hint of warmth on the finish. The mousse is refined and rounded. Long on the palate, it's inviting now but will have plenty of life ahead of it if stored property. This exceptional cuvee with its distinctive personality continues to be one of the best entry wines to the range from this house and is a benchmark wine for them.

Wine Spectator 93 Points | Fine and seamless, with mouthwatering acidity well-meshed with a rich range of crème de cassis, poached apricot, gingerbread and almond extract flavors, plus accents of fleur de sel, Meyer lemon peel and star anise. Long and lively on the creamy finish. 

James Suckling 93 Points | Lovely density and a fine-bubble texture. Dried apple and apricot with hints of dried flowers. Medium to full body. with medium-rich fruit. Spice, zest and ginger character. Usually 10% in barrel. 60% pinot noir, 25% chardonnay and 15% pinot meunier. About 40% reserve wine kept in magnums. Always really well done. 

The Wine Advocate 92 Points | Like its rosé counterpart, the latest release of Bollinger's NV Brut Special Cuvée is showing especially well, bursting from the glass with aromas of honeyed apples, crisp stone fruit, buttery pastry, ripe lemons and fresh walnuts. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vinous, with a deep core of beautifully ripe fruit, racy acids and a pillowy mousse, it's a charming, characterful wine that proves that Special Cuvée is firmly back where it belongs.

A golden color, distinctive of black grape varieties. Very fine bubbles. On the nose, it has a beautiful aromatic complexity, ripe fruit, and spicy aromas, with hints of roasted apples, apple compote, and peaches. On the palate, there is a subtle combination of structure, length, and vivacity. The bubbles are like velvet. Flavors of pear, brioche and spicy aromas, notes of fresh walnut.

Pair with all fish, especially sushi and sashimi, shellfish such as shrimp, prawns, crayfish and grilled lobster, poultry and white meat, cashews, parmesan or prosciutto.

Oscar Garcia Lead Wine Sommelier 67Wine.com | Castellroig is part of the prestigious Corpinnat designation that is meant to oversee the quality of grower in the Penedes region of Catalonia. Castellroig is also one of very few producers in the region that is 100% Estate owned.  Their philosophy for producing some of the region's best sparkling wines centers on the typicity of their terroirs of their various estates.  Varietal singularity is another part of their winemaking tradition.

Castellroig Brut Nature Reserva is an examplary wine of what corpinnat is seeking to achieve: A clear distinction from the mass-produced, low quality sparkling wines of the region. 

Aromas of green apples, with some herbal nuances: lemon-thyme and sage. Further aromas of lime peel and ripe oranges.  Medium-bodied with fine bubbles and persistent palate sensation. The finish is clean and refreshingly dry.  I highly recommend this Sparkling wine for its value and superb craft. 

A refreshing and rewarding traditional organic premium Catalan sparkling and a big step up from a lot of Cava.

A small group of producers from the traditional heartlands of Cava country, Penedes, left the Cava DO a few years ago as they felt it didn't reward or represent the quality wines they were producing with native grape varieties, and so formed Corpinnat - a new brand under which to market superior quality Catalan sparkling wines. Sabate I Coca's Castellroig Reserva comes from around 40 plots of Xarel-Lo, Macabeo and Parellada grapes that are grown to organic principles and vinified separately before blending and then undergoing the traditional sparkling wine method, like Champagne.

Lovely floral aromas of jasmine, white flowers, green apple and citrus, along with something a bit richer, lead onto a fresh and persistent palate with ripe citrus, orchard fruit and a fresh, dry minerality on the finish. Excellent value for money.

Great as an aperitif but would also work oysters and shellfish, white fish, and salads.

Separate vinification of Xarello and Macabeo followed by blending and traditional method sparkling winemaking. 

Hailing from the Sabate i Coca family farm just south of Barcelona. This cava is crisp and refreshing with hints of apple and pear. Perfect as an apertif! Certified organic.

The froth is evanescent with a violet color and continuous perlage. Its color is a brilliant ruby red color, the perfume is fruity with flowery notes and the taste is sweet and harmonious. 

Lambrusco, a lightly sparkling, slightly sweet red wine is served well-chilled, and so is a godsend in the summer, when simpler fare, especially grilled or cured meats, call for a similarly light-hearted wine.

Lambrusco makes an exceptional, if unexpected, match with fiery hot-and-spicy dishes because its bubbly nature and slight sweetness make it work more like beer than wine to quench the flames. Winemaker Description.

Tasting Panel 92 Points | Golden State sunshine in a glass, this highly approachable traditional-method blend of 57% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 3% Meunier fills the nose and mouth with strawberry and cranberry amid tinges of red rose, lime leaf, and vanilla brioche. Pomegranate makes its way into the mix on the midpalate, met by lilting acidity.

Wine Spectator 90 Points | A festive sparkler, vibrant and generous, with layered strawberry, fresh ginger and spice flavors that build toward the snappy finish.

Winemaker Description 

In the glass, this Rose is a pretty pink with intense ripe strawberry, juicy watermelon, and fresh red cherry fruit aromas and flavors. On the palate, this wine is creamy and seductive with a defined structure from the Pinot Noir added in its final stages.

Chandon Rosé is very fond of salmon and tuna sushi, and also goes well with beef, duck, and lamb.

James Suckling 92 Points | This has quite an exotic array of tropical fruit and ripe nectarines. Really nicely cut balance between sweet-fruit flavors and freshness here. A blend of 71.9% pinot noir, 24.3% chardonnay, 2.1% pinot meunier, 1.4% shiraz, 0.2% pinot gris and 0.1% riesling. Drink now.

Winemaker Description

The Vallée de la Marne is the subregion within Champagne where pinot meunier dominates. Christophe Mignon’s family vineyards in Le-Mesnil-le-Huttier lie right in the meunier heartland, and Christophe himself is dedicated to growing that particular grape variety. 

Growing biodynamically for two decades now, he has attuned not only his farming practices but also the processes in the cellar to the rhythm of the moon cycle. He harvests his grapes at optimal ripeness and uses minimal sulfur. This brut nature combines equal parts of two recent vintages. It ages in the bottle for two years and receives no final dosage. Apricot and spice, with a touch of richness, lead to a bright, mineral palate and a long, dry finish. Biodynamically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.

Decanter 91 Points | The oldest producer in Emilia, Cleto Chiarli is better known for producing high-quality Lambrusco Secco, but this Grasparossa Amabile is just as captivating. Round and creamy but not cloying, touches of pepper and cinnamon complicate cherry jam flavours. Excellent acidity keeps the residual sugar in balance, underpinning a savoury and slightly grippy finish.

Winemaker Description 

A semi-sweet wine of an intense red color. The wine has very fruity aromas and all the grape fragrances can be felt. Lively and fading bubbles are of a marked rose color. Its smoothness makes it surprisingly pleasant, though avoiding excesses. A captivating wine.

Paired well with traditional cuisine from Emilia, it is also a wonderful accompaniment to desserts.

Codorniu Demi-Sec , as its name indicates, is the traditional cava par excellence, made using the three classic varieties from the D.O. Cava: Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada. Its fresh, fruity and delicate aromas make it the ideal option for a pre-dinner aperitif. This Demi-Sec version is for those who like their cavas to be less dry. So if you want to raise an even sweeter toast, this is undoubtedly the cava for you!

Jeff Porter of the Wine Enthusiast writes 92 Points | Inky dark-violet notes, both fresh and dried, dominate the nose, accompanied by an abundance of plum and blackberry aromas. On the palate, rich, succulent, and mouthwatering black cherries and currants take center stage, creating a wine that truly tastes you back. Zippy acidity and fine tannins provide a well-balanced structure, making this Lambrusco a delightful and engaging.  

Natalie MacLean writes 89 Points | From the Emilia-Romagna wine region, Medici Ermete & Figli Arte E Concerto 2023 Lambrusco is lovely and fragrant with pink and blue florals, bright cherry, red and dark berry flavours delivered on a fresh and fizzy mousse. Lovely balance on this Lambrusco Reggiano with a gentle sweetness and rich dark and red fruit flavours. Chill and enjoy on its own or with a charcuterie platter.

Concerto is the world’s first single vineyard vintage Lambrusco. A sparkling dry red wine, its lively bubbles are achieved through natural fermentation. Grapes from the prestigious Tenuta La Rampata vineyard are farmed organically on Cordone Speronato (cordon trained and spur pruned) vines in clay soil with highly limited yields. The wine is best served at a temperature of 47 to 49 degrees Fahrenheit and should be consumed within two years of vintage.

Audrey Frick of JebDunnuck.com writes 92 Points | The NV Champagne Blanc De Blancs is based on 80% 2017, with 20% reserve wine (a larger percentage that Delamotte has been using over the past several years due to climate change). The
wine comes from the three villages of Avize, Oger, and Mesnil sur Oger and pours a pale but bright yellow hue. Expressive on opening, floral aromas as well as notes of poached pear, fresh honeysuckle, almond, and lemon sherbet lift from the glass. Medium-bodied, with a refined mousse, it has even acidity through the palate and has a chalky texture, with a good linear drive through the finish. With 7 grams per liter dosage, it’s attractively balanced and rounds out the palate in a lovely way. It has notable freshness for the vintage. Drink 2024-2034.

Made from Grand Cru Chardonnay, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs exhibits absolute purity, with the vinification process taking place in stainless steel tanks. Blanc de Blancs is a mineral champagne, with a chalky sensation achieved by a modest addition of reserve wine (10% maximum). This particular note is the very essence of our vineyard and its Chardonnays, which grow in a pure chalk soil. Yes, the wines may be a little austere when young, which is why maturation on the lees – far longer than the statutory fifteen months – extends to four or five years before disgorgement. The wine consists of two vintages and 15% of the blend consists of perpetual reserve. The reserve for the wine is now of vintages from 2009 to 2017.

The wine has been aged for 36 months on lees in the bottle.

The Wine Advocate 95 Points | The 2015 Dom Pérignon is terrific. Bright and poised, the 2015 shows terrific energy. Citrus peel, white flowers, mint, white pepper and slate all race across the palate. There's gorgeous tension and backbone here, with bright saline notes that extend the mid-palate and finish. This is a fine showing in a vintage that has proven to be tricky. I am intrigued to see how the 2015 develops in the coming years.

The Wine Spectator 95 Points | Disgorged in January 2023, the 2015 Dom Pérignon shows a singular, ethereal profile with aromas of white pepper, iodine, ripe orchard fruits, toast, smoke, herbs and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered, and structured, it’s enveloping and round with a delicate phenolic mid-palate that underlines chalky dry extracts, concluding with a sapid, penetrating finish with gastronomic bitterness. Antonio Galloni of Vinous writes 98 Points  | Dinner starts with a fresh, briny oyster and a glass of 2010 Dom Ruinart. It’s a beautiful pairing. I have always loved the 2010 for the way it straddles the worlds of Champagne and still wine. It is absolutely glorious on this night. In fact, I could have had it for the entire meal. A deep, luscious morel broth and Brittany scallops are other highlights among the amuse-bouches. (Drink between 2023-2050).

More than 250 years ago, Louis XV’s great paramour, Madame de la Pompadour, famously introduced sparkling wine to the court at Versailles. She declared it “the only wine that a woman can drink and remain beautiful,” and today Domaine Carneros’ Pompadour Brut Rosé is named in her honor.

Domaine Carneros harvests estate-grown, green certified Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from its vineyards in Carneros to craft small quantities of this beautifully balanced Brut Rosé. The Pinot Noir juice spends several days in contact with the grape skins in order to extract the lovely color and flavor components. In some years a small amount of estate Pinot Noir wine is added to adjust the color when needed.

Producer Description 

Very beautiful 13 hectare estate recently discovered which produces gourmet wines, certified AB and vinified without additives and with little sulfur (below 35 mg/l). All the grape varieties are represented on varied terroirs. Prices remain reasonable. You have to know how to take advantage of it in this region.

Producer Description 

From the warm (even by today’s standards) 2019 growing season comes this masterful Vouvray Extra-Brut, which spent four full years on its lees, and to which Philippe and Vincent applied a mere 1.33 grams-per-liter dosage—their lowest ever.

Philippe prefers a small dosage to none, as he states that it improves the wine’s capacity to age, and he and Vincent employ rigorous double-blind dosage trials to determine the final amount.

With its low-for-Vouvray acidity and its full malolactic fermentation (rare for Foreau), this wine benefits from its modest dosage, as it maintains taut acidity and clings mightily to the palate as its notes of truffle, candied lemon, and lanolin echo far into the distance.

The Wine Advocate 93 Points | The NV Vin Mousseux Brut Methode Traditionelle La Cravantine is a pale rosé colored Cabernet Franc sparkling wine with a very delicate mousse. Fermented on the bottle with its own residual sugar from the first alcohol fermentation and after at least one year sur lattes, the wine opens with an intense yet fine and elegant brioche and ripe apple bouquet. On the palate, this is an intense, round and textural, highly delicate fizz with a super elegant and refined mousse and a long, intense and aromatic, sustainably structured finish. A fabulous wine for aperitifs, breakfasts and desserts. 12% alcohol.

This exquisite Cab Franc rose is both serious and delicious. Notes of strawberry and white peach but very clean and mineral on the palette with a wonderfully long finish.
