Savory aromas of wet stone lead to delicate strawberry, light spice and grapefruit. Medium-bodied and subtly textured, with increasing richness on the palate and a salty, mineral-driven finish.
Champagne Gamet Rive Droite is an expressive Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut that showcases the distinctive terroirs found along the right bank of the Marne River. Led by Pinot Meunier and supported by Pinot Noir, it combines generous fruit and a rounded texture with freshness, mineral tension and a distinctly saline finish.
The fruit comes from the villages of Fleury-la-Riviere and Damery in the Vallee de la Marne. Fleury-la-Riviere is known for its sunny exposures and sandy clay soils over limestone, while Damery contributes soils containing clay, limestone and marl. The combination of these contrasting sites gives the Champagne both ripe fruit character and a firm mineral backbone.
The current release is composed of 85% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir. Approximately 60% comes from the 2021 harvest, while the remaining 40% consists of reserve wines dating back to 2014. The inclusion of reserve wines adds depth, complexity and consistency while preserving the freshness of the younger base vintage.
The estate follows practicing-organic farming methods and works with vines approximately 40 to 50 years old. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is vinified primarily in stainless steel, with approximately 10% fermented and matured in oak. This restrained use of barrel adds texture and complexity without overwhelming the purity of the fruit.
Following secondary fermentation in bottle, the Champagne spends approximately 18 months aging on its lees. It is finished with a low dosage of approximately 4 grams per liter, placing it firmly within the Extra Brut category and emphasizing its freshness, precision and mineral character.
Pale straw in color, Rive Droite opens with aromas of dried pear, white cherry, raspberry and delicate strawberry, accompanied by apple blossom, dried flowers and subtle notes of spice. With air, layers of blood orange peel, grapefruit, almond, brioche and crushed stone begin to emerge.
The palate is fresh, supple and finely textured, with a delicate mousse and an appealing combination of ripe orchard fruit and red berry flavors. Pinot Meunier provides roundness, fruit and generosity, while Pinot Noir adds structure and savory depth. Bright acidity and a clean saline character carry the wine through a mouthwatering, gently nutty finish.
This is a characterful and highly versatile grower Champagne that may be enjoyed as an aperitif or served throughout a meal. It pairs beautifully with oysters, smoked salmon, sushi, shellfish, roast chicken, pork, charcuterie, mushroom dishes and soft or moderately aged cheeses.
