Folk Machine, Gamay Noir Rose Arroyo Seco 2025 750ml
Our Professional Review
Debra of 67Wine.com writes | This fresh, playful rose is made from !00% Gamay grapes. Crisp, lively acidity, bright red fruit flavors (cherry, strawberry, raspberry, red currant) with savory, herbal undertones make this delightful Rose to be enjoyed year round.
Winemaker Description
True Glou! Crushable Gamay from California. Sharp, juicy with great texture.
A very sandy site covered in "Greenfield Potatoes" (i.e. big rocks) and ideal for light aromatics and early ripening. Arroyo Seco AVA is very cool and windy and often compared to Carneros. Certified Sustainable Winegrower by the CSWA.
Vinification
This is our 8th vintage of Gamay Rosé and in full stride with our aspirations for it. Lots of natural acidity giving it a mouthwatering sensation and refreshing character. The grapes were taken directly to press with just a short amount of maceration time during the transportation. Fermented in in stainless steel with temperature control to keep the fermenting juice cool and the fermentation slow, preserving the natural aromatics and flavors. Only 463 cases produced.
Residual Sugar: 1.6 g/L
Memo Summary Notes
The 2025 Folk Machine Gamay Noir Rosé is a celebrated "crushable" pink wine from Kenny Likitprakong’s Hobo Wine Company. Known for its bright acidity and low-intervention style, this vintage continues the tradition of using Gamay grapes from the Cedar Lane Vineyard in the Arroyo Seco AVA.
-
Aromas: Fresh strawberry, watermelon, and dusty cherry.
-
Palate: High natural acidity with a "mouthwatering" sensation. Features a distinct salty minerality and a touch of wet stone on the finish.
-
Body: Light and energetic. Unlike many California rosés that lean into heavy fruit, this is styled more like a traditional French Vin de Soif.
Billecart Salmon Le Rose Brut Champagne 750ml
Expert Reviews
Antonio Galloni of Vinous writes 91 Points | The NV Brut Rosé (base 2020) is another wine that points to the progress Mathieu Roland-Billecart has made here in recent years. Pliant, creamy and super-expressive, this edition is striking. It has a good bit of textural richness and is fresher than the 2018 tasted alongside it. Of course, some of that may be as simple as time in bottle. Pomegranate and grapefruit are laced into the brisk, finely cut finish. This release is based on 2020, with 46% reserve wines back to 2014. Dosage is 4.7 grams per liter. Disgorged: second trimester 2023. Drinking 2024 to 2030.
Tim Hewson of Decanter writes 92 Points | Based on the 2020 vintage, Billecart-Salmon's signature rosé appears to be on its finest form of recent years under cellar master Florent Nys, full of fragrant, crunchy redcurrant, red cherry and orange fruit with an alluring hibiscus-like floral lift and subtle green peppercorn spicing. The Meunier wraps the intensity of the vintage base in a little softness that keeps the focus on effortless ease (helped by the selection of delicate Chardonnays and young, fresh reserve wines), all adding up to a rosé of immediacy and charm, sweet-natured without sweetness and fragrant without overt fruitiness. 40% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier. Drinking 2024 to 2027.

Pierre Amadieu Gigondas Cuvee Grande Romane 2021 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2021
Kristin Bieler of the Wine Spectator 91 Points | Shows good concentration for the 2021 vintage, with red plum and licorice on a foundation of graphite. A thread of singed herbs weaves through the pleasantly just-chewy palate. Savory, smoky and long, with toasty cedar adding warmth to the savory, smoky, long finish, which brings a firming feel. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2035.
Winemaker Description
The old vines of Domaine Grand Romane are located on the highest part of the family vineyard, 400 m above sea level. Facing northwest, these hillsides dominated by upper Cretaceous sandstone limestone and sandy marl, offer power and concentration.
On the nose there are aromas of black fruit (blackcurrant and black cherry) and red fruits (raspberry and redcurrant) stewed with a hint of vanilla which meet savory notes of thyme, laurel and black olives on the palate. Powerful tannins fill the mouth with notes of spicy licorice and pepper for a long and satisfying finish. An astonishing balance of complexity, power and elegance.

Versatile and food-friendly, Santa Cristina Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled meats, pasta with rich sauces, roasted vegetables, or aged cheeses, offering a polished yet easy-drinking expression of Cabernet from Tuscany.
Velich TO White 2021 750ml
Vinous 92 Points The 2021 To is a blend of Chardonnay, Welschriesling and Sauvignon Blanc from the younger vines of the estate, which are around 15 years old. Gentle nuttiness and a touch of tatami mat appear on the nose, which is very subtle and calm. With more air, a hint of butter emerges. The palate is all clarity, all lightness and all brightness on a super-slender frame that is soothing and smooth. (Bone-dry). Tó takes its name from the Hungarian word for “lake” and is a collection of younger vines, 15-25 years old.
Velich Darscho Chardonnay 2021 750ml
Vinous 94 Points | The 2021 Darscho is a pure Chardonnay from vines that are around 25 years old. The bright energy of the wine hits you with the first sniff; there is lift, brightness and something immensely citric and pervasive that hits the pleasure center of the brain. This has an exquisite shape. It glides and moves with agility, with the dynamic of a drop of liquid rolling across plumage—always entire, rounded, shining, smooth and so mobile. The finish simply sinks into soil, draws you in, seasons the tongue with its saltiness and floors you with its incredible equanimity. The finish is endless, profound and ineffable. (Bone-dry). Darscho is named after a smaller lake in the village and comes from vineyards which are 35-50 years old.
Velich Tiglat Chardonnay 2021 750ml
Vinous 97 Points | The 2021 Tiglat is a pure Chardonnay from the oldest vines of the estate, planted in 1959. Smoothness dominates the nose, which offers almost salty hints of lanolin, a touch of Mirabelle and a lovely note of straw. The palate is intense, concentrated and pervasive, with uncompromising nakedness, dynamicism and drive, dripping with lemon brightness, all bound up in earthiness reminiscent of fresh cep mushroom and profound, cooling limestone. Clarity is everything here. The finish is long, serene, touching and memorable. (Bone-dry). Tiglat, which comes from the original plantings from 1959, is the crown jewel of the line-up. The wine is fermented naturally and kept on the full lees for at least 24 months.
Nittnaus Blaufrankisch Kalk und Schiefer Organic 2021 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2020
James Suckling 93 Points | Perfumed aromas of dried roses, red berry fruit and licorice pull you in. Darker mocha notes, too. Medium-bodied yet deep, with dark minerals and spices accompanying the fresh berry fruit. Fine and tight tannins. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink or hold.
The Wine Enthusiast by Aleks Zecevic writes 91 Points | A layer of chalk and cocoa coats the blueberry, cassis and violet flavors in this lovely, medium-bodied red. It is silky and complex, with great purity and a long loam-tinged finish.
Winemaker Notes
The Blaufränkisch grapes come from vineyards characterised by limestone and slate in and around Jois am Leithagebirge. The grapes were harvested from mid to late September. After manual harvesting and sorting, the Blaufränkisch was fermented spontaneously in wooden fermentation racks and, after slow pressing in a basket press, aged in used Tonneaux.
On the palate, the wine appears juicy with lots of fresh cherry and pomegranate juice, with plums and lightly roasted herbs. At the same time, this is a Blaufränkisch with a mineral fresh and cool side, a lively acidity and a remarkable inner tension. Here, too, you find the slightly earthy and tart with a fine tannin. This is intense, transparent, clear and fresh wine that quickly builds up drinkability.

The 2024 Anne Pichon "Sauvage" Viognier is a beautifully expressive, organic white wine from the Vaucluse region in the Southern Rhône Valley. The 2024 vintage continues the estate's reputation for producing Viognier that avoids the "oaky/heavy" trap, focusing instead on pure fruit and mineral freshness.

Domaine Gerard Boulay Sancerre Blanc CHAVIGNOL 2024 750ml
Winemaker Description
Overall, Gerard Boulay's “terre blanche” vineyards produce some of the most distinctive and soil-inflected Sauvignon Blancs in the Loire, with a delineation and minerality often reminiscent of a top Chablis. Boulay is certainly among the top examples of the appellation, including Boulay's neighbors (Cotat Bros., Vatan).
These are gorgeous, highly complex wines that are a clear step above "regular" Sancerre, and can age easily for 10-20 years or more. In fact, we have had them all the way back to the 1959 which was magnificent! They confirm Boulay's place in the top ranks of Loire Valley vignerons."

-
Fresh oysters and grilled seafood.
-

Fontodi Chianti Classico Organic 2020 750ml
James Suckling | Subtle aromas of sliced strawberries and cherries with some orange peel follow through to a medium body with succulent tannins and a bright and tangy finish. Lovely energy in this one. So good now. From organically grown grapes.
Wine Spectator | Rich and velvety, laced with black cherry, blackberry, violet and mineral flavors. This is driven by vibrant acidity and backed by well-mannered tannins. Shows excellent balance and length.
Decanter | This flagship Chianti Classico from the renowned Fontodi estate has grown over the years to its current annual production of 170,000 bottles, however it has not lost its identity, deeply rooted in a sun-drenched stretch of Panzano’s Conca d’Oro. The 2020 version has all the ripe dark fruit and assertive tannins that come so neatly into balance. Grilled meat, baked earth and thyme flirt with black plum. The youthful juiciness has the energy to carry this over the next eight or so years. It finishes with its signature bitter liquorice twist.
Robert Parker | A certified organic wine, the Fontodi 2020 Chianti Classico shows dark fruit and blackberry with earthy sensations of crushed stone that reflect the schistous soils found in this area of the appellation. Unlike the Filetta di Lamole (with fruit from Lamole) that is very floral in personality, this expression from Panzano has more structure, girth and general fruit weight
Monica Larner writes: A certified organic wine, the Fontodi 2020 Chianti Classico shows dark fruit and blackberry with earthy sensations of crushed stone that reflect the schistous soils found in this area of the appellation. Unlike the Filetta di Lamole (with fruit from Lamole) that is very floral in personality, this expression from Panzano has more structure, girth and general fruit weight. Drinking 2023 -2030. - Robert Parker Wine Advocate 91
Walter Speller writes: Panzano. 100% Sangiovese. Certified organic. Youthful ruby. Subtle yet enticing nose of sweet red fruit with meaty notes and hints of laurel. Lots of juice on the palate and plenty of grainy but ripe tannins; but they are in perfect harmony with the succulent fruit. Drinking 2023 - 2032. - Jancis Robinson 17++
Antonio Galloni writes: The 2020 Chianti Classico offers notable tension to balance the natural richness that is such a signature here. There is plenty of Panzano intensity, but less opulence than has been the norm in the past. A shift towards larger format oak and bottling four months earlier contribute to that feel. Dark red cherry, leather, spice, rose petal, dried herbs and wild flowers all grace this nuanced Chianti Classico. It will be interesting to see the direction this bottling takes. I would not plan on opening this too young. - Vinous 92+
Memo Summary Notes
The Fontodi Chianti Classico 2020 is a benchmark expression of Sangiovese from the "Conca d’Oro" (Golden Shell) of Panzano. This vintage is noted for being slightly more reserved and structured than recent opulent years, offering a classic, high-energy profile that rewards decanting or a few more years in the cellar.

Expert Recognition
Wine Advocate - 93 Points (2022 Vintage)
"Not too far off from tasting and smelling like a full-fledged Barbaresco, or even a Barolo for that matter, since it does technically have the DNA of both. The fruit is delivered with fresh, vertical intensity, and the wine's texture is firm and tensile. I like this vintage more than I thought I would."
Vinous Media - 90 Points (2022 Vintage)
"A very serious wine in its peer group. Crushed flowers, red-toned fruit, chalk, mint, white pepper and orange peel give this rich, textured red notable aromatic brightness and presence. This is far from an easygoing Langhe Nebbiolo."

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Masseto 2020 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2020
100 Points Decanter | Intense and full on the nose, fragrant with ripe black fruit, floral aspects and soft spicing. Round and full on the palate, it's rich and muscular yet tight and neatly coiled with a liquorice, graphite, pepper, cinnamon and clove tang that gives this immediate but enjoyable spice. Feels well worked, juicy with high acidity that lifts the palate and gives freshness and brightness alongside really quite mouthwatering strawberry and raspberry fruit with such captivating dried floral and bitter orange rind aspects. Tannins are super fine and so well integrated yet this maintains a grip and hold from the very beginning through to a long and sustained finish. Nuanced and complex, still packing a punch in terms of power, but this feels sophisticated, suave, purposeful and controlled. Not elegant, this is more of a caged animal with it's full potential yet to be unveiled, but it is classy. A truly delicious wine with so much purity and sense of place. Malolactic fermentation in 100% new barroques, with each batch kept separate for the first 12 months of ageing before being blended and returned to barriques for another year, totalling 24 months. The wine was then aged for a further 12 months in bottle before being released. Winemaker Gaia Cinnirella.
99 Points Wine Enthusiast | A hedge maze of aromas greets the nose, from blackberries and black cherries to crushed stones and crumpled petals, before a gentle addition of vanilla and toasted coconut. Mixed berries with vanilla and cardamom soak the palate, followed by freshly tilled dirt and flinty stone notes, and finally an astringent, brooding spiciness on the back. Tannins are tightly stitched together across the palate like a tapestry, with acrobatic acid emphasizing a salt and pepper finish. A wine that speaks volumes without shouting.
99 Points James Suckling | Intense aromas of ripe herbs, plums, green coffee beans, and hazelnuts. Turns to crushed berries and orange peel. Full-bodied with superb concentration and fine, velvety tannins that run the length of the wine. It's big but agile and gorgeous. Merlot. What a wine! Best after 2030.
99 Points Jeb Dunnuck | 97-99 Tasted from barrel, the 2020 Masseto is incredibly expressive out of the gate, with a sweet perfume of candied plum, boysenberry, crushed flowers, mocha, sweet earth, and fresh sage. The palate is full-bodied and decadent, with a velvety texture and notes of black plum, fresh leather, and scorched mineral earth. It delivers great finesse and polish that features opulence without having weight. I look forward to tasting this next year from bottle.
98 Points Vinous Media | The 2020 Masseto is superb. Bright and vibrant in the glass, the 2020 offers up an exciting mix of dark-toned fruit, mocha, spice, leather, tobacco, cedar and a kiss of French oak. Lively acids and Franc aromatics lend vibrancy throughout. The Franc is so evident today. This is exceptionally polished and sophisticated, albeit a touch slender relative to most years. In 2020, Masseto is more finesse than power.
97 Points Wine Spectator | Complex, with a luscious texture and saturated plum, blackberry, black olive, iron, tobacco and toasty spice aromas and flavors, this red features a full, rich timbre. Offers a lively, well-integrated structure, with a long aftertaste of fruit and spices and a pleasant chalky feel. Merlot. Best from 2025 through 2043.
96 Points Wine Advocate | The 2020 Masseto now sees new DNA with a touch of Cabernet Franc added to this celebrated Merlot-based icon wine. This is a vintage of enormous richness and density, and everything about the wine is taken up a notch or two (including the bottle glass weight and the 15% alcohol content). But Axel Heinz and his team are well prepared for the hot vintages like 2020, and changes to farming and canopy management ensure even ripening. This wine is always hard to analyze in its youth. It needs many more years to soften and flesh out. Give it time.

Chateau Chatain Lalande-de-Pomerol 2020 750ml
Expert Review- Vintage 2018
Wine Enthusiast 89 Points | The power of the Merlot in this wine is palpable. It is not a shy wine, instead packed with black fruits and solid, rich tannins. . Drink from 2022.
Memo Summary Notes
The 2018 Château Chatain Lalande-de-Pomerol is a classic Right Bank Bordeaux that offers a lot of the charm of its famous neighbor, Pomerol, but at a much more accessible price point. The 2018 vintage in Bordeaux was notably warm and "solar," resulting in wines with high ripeness and concentration.
Chateau Graville Lacoste Graves Blanc 2024 750ml
Expert Review
Madison H. Brown of Kermit Lynch | Brimming with honeysuckle, lychee, and citrus, this Bordeaux blend is reliably harmonious with Eastern cuisine—sushi, dumplings, Szechuan dishes, light curries, and vermicelli bowls all jive. I sampled a glass or two with saag paneer, butter chicken, and naan and found the Graves’ acidity a refreshing foil to the meal’s garam-masala-scented richness.
Winemaker Description
Crisp, fresh, and refreshing with notes of citrus, cut grass, and subtle tropical fruits.
Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2020 750ml
Expert Ratings - Vintage 2020
James Sucking 94 Points: A discrete and savory nose of blackcurrants, tobacco leaves, coffee beans and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied with silky tannins, bright acidity and notes of dark cherries, olives and beets. A blend of 83% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 6% petit verdot and 1% malbec. A well-balanced wine that will age gracefully. Drink or hold.
Wine Enthusiast 92 points: The expressive nose of this wine gives aromas of black currant, plum and tobacco, with just a whisper of capsicum. The palate displays vibrant cranberry, black cherry, cigar and black pepper flavors in a medium-bodied frame.
Winemaker Notes:
Rich notes of ripe black cherry, currant and boysenberry mingle gracefully with delicate notes of cedar. On the palate, a harmonious balance unfolds, showcasing flavors of blueberries, cranberry and clove, all embraced by the smooth tannins imparted by the French oak barrels. Evolving gracefully in the glass, the dark fruit flavors and subtle acidity leave a lasting impression on the palate. Enjoy now after decanting 60 minutes or cellar through 2040.
The dark fruit flavors, silky palate and beautiful structure make it a decadent wine for food pairing. This wine’s elegance, acidity and spice notes complement grilled or roasted dishes, such as beef bourguignon, duck confit or roasted chicken. The earthiness in this wine will also complement vegetarian dishes, such as roasted vegetables, mushroom risotto and ratatouille.
Blend: 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 1% Malbec
Peter Michael Winery Sauvignon Blanc l’Apres Midi 2024 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2023
The Wine Advocate 94 Points | Grapes for the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc L’Après-Midi were picked from September 21 through November 2—an especially long harvest window. “It was a special year because everything was pushed back,” Winemaker Robert Fiore says, noting that the cooler season resulted in very lively wines. Blended with 4% Sémillon, the 2023 L’Après-Midi is open and inviting. Pineapple, peach and guava are accented by tones of beeswax, dried tarragon and candle smoke on the nose. The palate is bursting with concentrated, tropical, spicy flavors. Its vibrant acidity provides the perfect foil, lending the wine a shimmery feel, and it has a long, perfumed finish. 1,850 cases were made.
Winemaker Description
2023 'L’Après-Midi' (The Afternoon) was named in honor of the pleasures of a slow and lazy afternoon, which according to Sir Peter is a good time to start enjoying this wine. This is one of our two estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon blends.
The grapes are grown alongside our red Bordeaux varietals within Les Pavots Vineyard, benefiting from the steep slopes, excellent drainage, and cool air at altitude. The wine is whole-cluster-pressed and then naturally fermented in a barrel, forgoing a second malolactic fermentation to preserve the fruity and zesty character of the Sauvignon Blanc. It is predominantly made from Sauvignon Blanc, with just a touch of Sémillon.
Domaine de la Romanee Conti Romanee Conti Grand Cru Monopole 2015 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2015
Decanter 100 Points | Produced from seriously old vines with an average age of 56 years, DRC’s headline act does not remotely disappoint. Aromatic fireworks of ripe red and black fruits, toast, spice and a note of decadent perfume lead into a complex palate showing pristine flavours of ripe raspberry, dark cherry, spice, cream and minerals that saturate your taste buds. It is lavishly upholstered by sweet, dense filigree tannins and buoyed by fine acidity - the opulent texture and presence of this wine is beyond remarkable. Already, it is open, profoundly expressive and accessible, however its concentration, acidity and structure will carry it through for decades to come. Arguably the ultimate terroir wine, this 2015 is also the epitome of truly great Pinot Noir. Harvested on 10th September with a yield of 22.65hl/ha. Bottled 22nd March 2017. 403 cases produced. Drinking Window 2025 - 2060.
The Wine Advocate 100 Points | The 2015 Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is one of the pinnacles of this great red Burgundy vintage, opening in the glass to reveal a bouquet of kaleidoscopic complexity, notes of raspberry and red plum mingling with rose petal, peony, blood orange and spice. On the palate, the wine is silky, medium to full-bodied and stunningly complete, its supremely elegant tannins entirely cloaked in pristinely delicate red fruit. Despite its incredible concentration and persistence, this Romanée-Conti is utterly weightless, and its effortless harmony and unremitting finish preclude any argument about its benchmark quality. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare and harvested September 10.
Allen Meadows of Burghound 99 Points | Sometimes, try as I might, words fail to communicate adequately those few transcendent experiences where a wine is just so amazing that it's impossible to capture it. The 2015 Romanée-Conti would be one of those experiences so you will simply have to accept the limitations of the written word. The breathtakingly beautiful nose is restrained to the point of being almost mute yet aggressive agitation eventually reveals an exotically broad-range of highly perfumed floral, spice, tea and incense-like nuances. The opulently textured, concentrated and equally mineral-driven flavors accentuate the perfumed character of the nose as the inner mouth perfume just adds to the what is roughly akin to an sensorial assault, all wrapped in a finish that lasted for seemingly several days as I had no trouble recalling it over the next 48 hours. If there's any imperfection that I could detect, there is a hint of warmth but otherwise, this is pretty close to perfect. The word spectacular comes to mind but then again so does brilliant, fabulous and splendid. You get the idea, pretty damn remarkable.
Vinous 98 Points | Full dark red. Slightly darker and more reticent on the nose than La Tâche, dominated in the early going by black raspberry, cherry, spices, crushed rock and coffee. Enters the mouth like liquid velvet, expanding to show an incredible 3-D texture and great depth to its soil-inflected flavors of flowers, spices, mocha, underbrush and savory minerality. At the first sip, this utterly seamless, spherical yet rather youthfully impenetrable wine saturates the entire palate like a thunderstorm breaking out across a wide front. Today I don't find the typical early vegetal nuances of this wine, perhaps owing to the total ripeness of the vintage. Still an infant, this wine should easily evolve positively for three decades or more. When I spit this wine, I thought I still had it in my mouth, such is its impression of solidity.(ST)
Echo de Lynch Bages 2nd Label of Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac 2022 750ml
Expert Ratings - Vintage 2022
The Wine Advocate 96 Points | One of the vintage's most powerful, muscular wines is the 2022 Lynch-Bages, a full-bodied, broad-shouldered Pauillac that unfurls in the glass with aromas of cassis, cherries, mint, pencil shavings and petroleum jelly, framed by nicely integrated new oak. Liberally extracted, its deep core of fruit is underpinned by an imposing chassis of rich, powdery tannin and lively acids. Always rather forbidding from barrel, Lynch Bages always seems to come together in bottle, and the 2022 has the makings of another success for this address.
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Points | The second wine of Lynch Bages is the 2022 Echo De Lynch-Bages, a ripe, medium to full-bodied, structured beauty with a kiss of classic Lynch Bages richness and depth. Cassis, black raspberries, graphite, dried flowers, and hints of chocolate all define the aromatics, and it has ripe, fine tannins, good mid-palate depth, and outstanding length.
James Suckling 94 Points | Crushed stone and lead pencil with blackcurrants. Full-bodied. Chewy and flavorful. Structured. Baby Lynch. 64% cabernet sauvignon, 31% merlot and 5% cabernet franc.
Decanter 93 Points | Blue fruits, subtle perfume, a juicy blackcurrant and stony minerality on the nose. Supple and juicy, a real sense of fun with detail to the fine tannins. Well balanced, gorgeous texture, depth and characterful. A great second wine still with terroir markers, a salty finish, chalky texture and grippy tannins. Still concentrated and serious, there’s an intensity to the fruit but really well delivered. Will be a beauty.
Memo Summary Notes
Echo de Lynch-Bages 2022 is the second label of the iconic Fifth Growth Pauillac estate, Château Lynch-Bages. In the 2022 vintage—a year defined by extreme summer heat and drought—this wine achieved a remarkable level of concentration and power, earning it the nickname "Baby Lynch" from top critics.

Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia ORNELLAIA Bolgheri Superiore 2022 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2022
The Wine Advocate 97 Points | Tasted a few months after it was bottled, the Ornellaia 2022 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia will be coming to market in March 2025. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. The wine sees 18 months of aging with up to 70% new oak, but the trick, proprietor Lamberto Frescobaldi tells me, is drawing from a large group of coopers with different toast levels and forests. "I don't want to make a wine of any one tonnellerie," he says. The oak element is crucial to the identity of this wine that reveals dark fruit, blackberry, sweet spice and cinnamon. Most of the vines were planted in the 1980s, and the average age of the plants is over 20 years old. Fruit comes from many parcels, including Bellaria, Bellaria Nuova, Bellaria Alta, Pero, Fosso, Vigna Vecchia and Stallina. Indeed, some 80 wines are made before final blending. The 2022 vintage will be remembered for its full-bodied appeal, concentrated fruit and generous oak renderings. Petit Verdot plays a slightly larger role in this vintage and was one of the surprise hits of 2022. It serves to elongate the wine and adds to its length. The wine's abundant fruit weight cedes to elegantly integrated tannins. This vintage will appeal to die-hard Ornellaia enthusiasts.
James Suckling 97 Points | A Mediterranean-style wine. Stunning elegance on the nose, with vibrant dried eucalyptus leaves, flowers, restrained brambleberries and hints of black cherries, dried bananas, milk chocolate, cloves and graphite. The palate is full-bodied with elegant tannins and a touch of dust. It’s savory and well packed, with integrated, brilliant freshness and a ripe, fruity finish with a toasty aftertaste of blond tobacco. Try from 2026.
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points | The 2022 Ornellaia is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 10% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. A deep but bright purple/red color, it has a fantastic nose of blackberries, polished cedar, lavender, sweet herbs, and dark cocoa. Full-bodied, it has a rich structure, with warming concentration but a very balanced feel. The tannins are ripe and frame the underlying mineral notes very nicely, its fruity richness fleshing it out harmoniously.
Vinous 96 Points | The 2022 Ornellaia is a terrific wine for the year. Dark red-toned fruit, mocha, new leather, licorice and spice all take shape in a mid-weight, pliant Ornellaia that is quite alluring, even in the early going. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, unusual for the elevated presence of Petit Verdot, which did better than Franc in 2022. The higher percentage of Petit Verdot comes through in the wine’s dark-leaning personality and also in the quality of tannins. More than anything else, the 2022 is a reminder of how important a tool blending is, especially in challenging years. I can’t wait to see how this ages. The 2022 Ornellaia is clearly among the most successful wines of the vintage.
Decanter 95 Points | Ornellaia 2022 is bold, dark fruited and spicy at this early stage, reflecting the increased percentage of Petit Verdot used in the blend. Production director Marco Balsimelli settled on 10% Petit Verdot to lend more structure to the otherwise quite soft tannic profile. Not lacking in brooding complexity, it swirls with peppery and herbal nuances and some lovely fresh acidity which carries through to a bright finish. As is characteristic of the 2022s in Bolgheri, this is overall a more compact and dense style compared to the previous year. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot.

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2023
James Suckling 97 Points | A tangy and fresh wine with intense flavors of sliced apples, lemons and limes. Medium-bodied with very fine phenolics for a Wente clone chardonnay, giving it length and structure. Complex and refined. Minerally, with a botanical character almost like a gin and tonic. Dense on the mid-palate. Drink or hold.
Vinous Media 96 Points | The 2023 Chardonnay Camp Meeting Ridge is fabulous. Rich, unctuous and layered, the 2023 offers a striking mix of concentration, fruit and coastal energy. Apricot, lemon confit, white flowers and slate all meld together in the glass. This unctuous, oily Chardonnay is a total delight. It was fermented and aged in 500- and 820-liter barrels, 24% new.
The Wine Spectator 94 Points | Shows wonderful precision, with complementary flavors of pear, Meyer lemon, yuzu and lime sherbet. The structure is equally impressive, offering density and Himalayan sea salt notes that add an appealing grip on the finish, where aromatics of vetiver, lemon balm and lemon thyme linger. Drink now through 2038.
The Wine Advocate 93 Points | The 2023 Chardonnay Camp Meeting Ridge was matured in 25% new French oak puncheons. It has slowly opening aromas of peach, beeswax, orange peel and saline. Flowers Vineyards Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2023 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2023
Decanter 93 Points | There is an oomph and intensity to the 2023 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from Flowers, with ripe fruits and generous forest character. Aromas of gravel dust, pine tar and smashed blue fruits come to the fore with whispers of violet florality. The palate shows a core of red and blue brambles, a nearly feral character to them. The savoury elements are followed by dried herbs, black tea, and a touch of mace. There's an intense saline throughline that crescendos at the finish.
James Suckling 93 Points | It's one of the first 2023 Sonoma pinots to be released and a great reflection of the long, cool growing season. Tangy, fresh and well balanced, with intricate orange zest, cinnamon, red cherry and black tea flavors on a vibrant, acid-driven texture. Medium- to full-bodied.
Winemaker Description
This fine-spun Pinot Noir opens with fresh aromas of coastal evergreens and wildflowers. Hints of early-season cherries follow, macerated in warm spices (anise, cardamom, allspice) and layered over earthy sandalwood. Ripe yet tangy dark berries, wearing a little dust from the patch, star on a lightly textured palate, giving way to savory herbs, delicately tannic red tea, and a pop of salty sea beans. A fascinating play of light fruit and dark spice is finished with a bright squeeze of orange peel.
