Tasting Panel 92 Points | Aged sur lie for nine months in (25% new) small French oak barrels, this classically styled Chardonnay shows a salty mineral character with melon, MacIntosh apple, marzipan, and lemon oil. Nice mouth feel, with body weight, and accented with crisp acidity. Wine Enthusiast 92 Points | A tantalizing, toasty top note draws you into this mouth-coating, richly flavorful and full-bodied wine. Spicy oak notes, light butter accents and poached pear flavors bring a lot of satisfaction on the sip.

James Suckling 91 Points | This shows note of ripe peaches and pineapple with hints of toffee, honeysuckle and lemon custard. Medium- to full-bodied, creamy and weighty yet with fresh, juicy acidity coming through. Mellow and textural on the finish.

Winemaker Description 

Chardonnay grapes grown primarily in Schug's Estate and Ricci vineyards, with additional barrels from the Wildcat Mountain and Sangiacomo vineyards, underwent traditional European winemaking practices. Each lot was fermented separately and aged on the lees ("sur-lie") in small French oak barrels, introducing judicious new oak. The result is an elegant and powerful wine that is refreshing and mouth-watering on the finish. It has intense aromatics of citrus, white flowers, and peach. This wine offers layers of tropical and stone fruit and light minerality on the palate.

Well-balanced acidity gives it a crisp, clean finish, making it an excellent wine with food. Try it with cream soups, rich seafood, fowl, veal, and pasta dishes.

Meridith May of The Tasting Panel writes 95 Points | Aromas of pineapple, guava, and gardenia. Lemon curd, pink grapefruit, and tangerine blossom form a delicate, creamy wave across the palate. Tropical flowers such as gardenia and plumeria play alongside honeyed pears, dotted with a salty, crisp seashell finish.

Antonio Galloni of Vinous writes 91 Points | The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc (Russian River Valley) is classy and polished to the core. Citrus peel, marzipan, white flowers and light tropical inflections all grace this aromatic, beautifully perfumed Sauvignon Blanc from Merry Edwards.

We began making our Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc in 2001, and we have lovingly reproduced this delicious wine each vintage since. Winemaker Heidi von der Mehden follows specific protocols, including fermentation in French oak barrels and twice-weekly lees stirring, to craft this aromatic, lush bottling.

The nose of the 2023 vintage features fragrant tropical aromas of white pineapple, passionfruit, mango and guava, with subtle hints of plumeria, lemon curd and lime zest. The palate is clean and bright, with accents of ruby red grapefruit, honeysuckle and ripe melon followed by a burst of crisp, refreshing acidity.

The special care they take to bring out the very best in this variety shows in their results. They use a specific mix of clones – two-thirds Shenandoah (Clone 1) and one-third Sauvignon Musqué – that results in a wine brimming with floral and tropical fruit aromatics with a citrusy, juicy core. Barrel fermentation and twice weekly lees stirring help us create the characteristic creamy texture and rich body that you’ve come to know and share with your friends and family.

The 2023 DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful, complex and layered wine with heady aromas of black plum, Zante currant, frankincense and sage. Trailing scents of blackberry, cardamom and espresso bean reveal accents of vanilla, saddle leather and cinnamon toast. On the palate, fine-grained tannins provide structure and support for rich flavors of black cherry, raspberry and mulberry, while secondary layers offer black olive, sandalwood and dark chocolate. A velvety texture finishes with lingering impressions of chocolate-covered cherry, dried herbs and toasty oak.

Wine Enthusiast 91 Points: Clean lines of cherry, toasted wood, red flower and a pinch of thyme make for a satisfying nose on this widely available bottling. The palate pairs familiar blackberry flavors with mocha spice.

Our 2020 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir reflects the nature of its coastal growing area. Cool evening fog wafts in from the ocean during the early evening and recedes gradually by noon, leaving behind cool, refreshed vines ready to bask in the sun. This wine, a blend of grapes from multiple vineyards, is a true representation of the marine-influenced region, where the environment allows us to leave the grapes on the vine long enough to develop abundant aromas and deep flavors.

The inviting nose offers up scents of Santa Rosa red plums, cassis, dried sweet figs and pomegranate backed by sandalwood and hints of tea rose. Bright and exciting on the palate, the entry begins with firm tannins and complex layers of red raspberries, bergamot tea, dried herbs and rose petal notes. Refreshing acidity carries the wine throughout the finish.

Murphy-Goode Pinot Noir comes from vineyards up and down the coast of California, including Arroyo Seco, Santa Maria Valley, and Monterey. Cool conditions in these prime growing spots keep grapes at a perfect balance between vibrant dark fruit character and bright acidity. The Wine Advocate 90 Points | Faust's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon features attractive aromas of dried herbs, pencil shavings, black cherries and cassis. It's medium to full-bodied and rather easy-drinking, not overly concentrated or rich but with enough texture to make it a steakhouse staple.

Building on our rich winemaking heritage, we invite you to experience Decoy Limited wines. Crafted using grapes from some of the most acclaimed California vineyard sources, including our own estate properties, these wines showcase the pinnacle of Decoy winemaking. 

The 2023 growing season started with a cool, wet winter, followed by a moderate spring, which delayed budbreak and bloom across several regions. Some vineyards were two to four weeks behind typical schedules, creating a unique timeline for harvest. Our team began picking in mid-September, progressing steadily from northern to southern blocks, with full harvest underway by October. A series of warm spells helped push the grapes to peak ripeness. Careful vineyard practices, including strategic leafing and crop adjustments, were essential this year, resulting in red wines with deep color and intensity, and white wines with fresh aromatics and lively acidity.

Decanter 93 Points | A wine of pure pleasure, From wine maker, Josh Phelps. Mixed berry, fruit and cherry compote lift out of the glass with hints of candied violets and brown baking spices. Medium bodied with all the same aromatics making appearances on the palate, framed by crisp tannins with velvet edges, finishing with cool graphite minerality and a hint of graham cracker and vanilla with crushed cocoa nibs nuances. Like I said, pure pleasure.

The Wine Advocate 92 Points | A blend of 89% Sauvignon Blanc and 11% Sémillon, Groth's 2024 Estate Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in a mix of neutral oak barrels and second-fill acacia wood, with the Sémillon going into concrete egg. The result is a wine characterized by bold scents of honeyed fig and melon, with just a hint of pencil shavings. It's medium- to full-bodied, expansive, generous and even rich across the mid-palate, then tightens up nicely on the finish, ending clean and lemony.

James Suckling 90 Points | This has citrusy, slightly grassy character with apples, lemon rind, spicy herbs and crushed stones on the nose. Medium-bodied, textured and juicy, it finishes creamy and sleek.

Highly aromatic with flavors of grapefruit, peach, honeysuckle, lemon curd with minerality and a note of nutmeg in the background. It is round mid-palate but is zippy and bright with fresh acidity. It finishes with notes of elderberry and brioche while the creamy mouthfeel lingers.

Santa Barbara County’s climate and terroir consistently enable Au Bon Climat to produce balanced and lively Chardonnays year after year.

Our 2023 Santa Barbara County Chardonnay is sourced from five carefully farmed vineyards: Bien Nacido, Los Alamos, Rancho Real, Gold Coast, and North Canyon. Throughout September and October, the fruit is handpicked and sorted in the vineyard, then whole cluster pressed. The juice is quickly settled, chilled, and transferred to barrels for primary fermentation and malolactic fermentation. The following summer, the lots are blended and the wine is bottled, after 8 months of sur lie barrel aging in neutral François Frères barrels.

Bogle’s “heritage” Petite Sirah is known for its concentration and jammy, luscious flavors. Lush with touches of cacao and roasted coffee bean on the nose. 

Barrel aging this bold Petite Sirah for a year has created an incredibly well structured, yet very approachable, wine of great color and depth. Blue fruits and boysenberry command the senses upon entry, while notes of black pepper and spice linger on the palate. On the finish, ripe textured tannins have been noticeably softened by those 12 months in American oak.

The 2023 vintage could be the vintage of the decade. It is among the coolest growing seasons in Napa Valley in the past ten-plus years, resulting in wines that are exceptionally flavorful, expressive, and have strong potential to age for decades to come. 

This Chardonnay presents a complex bouquet with enticing aromas of ripe melon, honeysuckle, and juicy peach, complemented by delicate hints of citrus blossoms.  

The name KARIA (KAR-ee-ah) is derived from the Greek word meaning graceful, and the 2023 KARIA Chardonnay lives up to its moniker. It shows how grapes from select cool-climate vineyards in southern Napa Valley can be vinified and blended into a seamless integration of fresh-fruit aromas and flavors, crisp acidity and subtle oak spice. Light and graceful: that’s KARIA. 

KARIA comes from a tapestry of vineyards in the southern part of Napa Valley. For the 2023 vintage, vineyards in the Atlas Peak District (42%), Carneros (35%), Arcadia (14%) and Bravo Zulu (8%) contributed fruit for this wine. The vineyards in Carneros (Beckster Las Amigas and Carneros Creek), which are cooled in the mornings and evenings by breezes sweeping north from San Pablo Bay, contribute citrus and mineral notes to the wine. ARCADIA VINEYARD brings perfume and delicate fruit characters. The Oak Knoll vineyards (Bravo Zulu) provide bright, juicy apple and pear personality to the blend. Atlas Peak fruit adds a lemon/lime citrus character and a richer mouthfeel. The grapes for this wine were picked early in the morning to keep them cool and then they were whole cluster pressed to preserve freshness. Oak and malolactic fermentation were used in moderation to accent, rather than overwhelm, the fruit.

The McManis Family Vineyards Zinfandel is a dark purple wine, loaded with notes of ripe red currant, strawberry, caramelized sugar, and toasty oak. The savory red fruit on the palate leads to soft, supple tannins and a smooth finish.

The appellation release comes 90% from La Rinconada and 10% from Sanford & Benedict, saw malolactic in barrel (as do all of these Chardonnays from Sanford), and 11 months in 25% new French oak. An initial impression of rich, buttery cream quickly turns to aromas of honey and lightly toasted almonds, followed by tropical aromas of pineapple, citrusy lemon and crème brulee. The wine is refreshing on the palate, with a minerality that is both bright and clean, drawing you into a vibrant tartness and lemon zest that is absolutely, positively Bonterra Chardonnay, vintage after vintage. 

This Zinfandel is a bold wine grown from some of the oldest vines in California. Gnarly Head’s untamed vines produce full-flavored grapes, dense with aromas of blackberry bramble, juicy plum, and toasted oak. This medium-bodied wine boasts a balanced acidity and supple tannins for those who like unique, big wines with a little eclectic edge.

A luscious blend crafted each year to take advantage of the grapes that performed best in the vintage.

James Suckling 91 Points | Perfumed aromas of wild blackberries, violets and and tobacco leaves. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins and acidity, giving notes of blackcurrants, cedar and dried herbs. Needs time for the tannins to soften. Drinkable now, but best from 2028.

Wine Advocate 90 Points | Truchard's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is the best I can recall from this reliable Carneros producer. Black cherries and cassis are joined by hints of vanilla and violets on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is streamlined and smooth—a linear style with ample concentration and length, focused and fresh, with some slightly herbal notes on the finish.

The word "Balade" is French for wandering.  This is a fitting term for our annual exploration of single-vineyard pinot noir blocks on the west coast.  Each vintage, we will bottle only the most compelling and nuanced expression of pinot noir from a single selected vineyard and release it as a limited bottling.

Dark Purple-violet tones with enticing aromas of blackberry and boysenberry notes.  Sophisticated on the palate with flavors of black cherry, wild blackberry and jammy plum.  Balanced and structured, this wine has beautiful acidity that lingers through to a long, mouthwatering finish.
