Blend: 76% Zinfandel, 14% Petite Sirah, 7% Carignane, 2% Alicante Bouschet, 1% Mataro
Expert Ratings - Vintage 2023
98 Jeb Dunnuck: Blending 76% Zinfandel, 14% Petite Sirah, 7% Carignane, 2% Alicante Bouschet and 1% Mataro from an estate vineyard in Dry Creek Valley purchased in 1972, the 2023 Zinfandel Lytton Springs exhibits initial chewiness that leads to fine tannins, with a good heft and underlying acidity. Well-woven oak supports a moderately ripe, medium-bodied frame of structured elegance, aged in 100% air-dried American oak. Enjoy now through 2033.
96 Decanter Magazine: A much cooler growing season delayed the start of harvest by about a month, resulting in a wine with greater restraint than the previous vintage. The 2023 is a more elegant take on this wine, with less fruit intensity, but still unmistakably Ridge. Fresh aromas of herbs from a bouquet garni mix with earthy tones and subtle sweet notes from baking spices. The fruit profile oscillates between ripe red and black berries, with a touch of plums and ripe cherries. Tannins are firm yet polished, and there's a soft creaminess to the palate. A wine that is balanced and quite enjoyable now, with many years to evolve in the bottle.
95 Wine Spectator: Deeply structured and full of tension, this polished red displays a distinctive personality, offering bold blackberry flavors accented with savory anise, black pepper and dark Asian spices. Ends with big but refined tannins. Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane, Alicante Bouschet and Mataro. Drink now through 2035.
95 James Suckling: A lovely release with lots of freshness from a cooler vintage. Bright and perfumed aromas of red cherries, raspberry coulis, confit plums, licorice and spice. The palate is full-bodied with finely tuned tannins and vibrant, crunchy acidity. Made from 76% zinfandel, 14% petite sirah, 7% carignan, 2% alicante bouschet and 1% mataro.
95 Vinous: The 2023 Lytton Springs is powerfully aromatic and expressive from the jump. It explodes from the glass with dark blue fruit, lavender and blood orange peel, framed by mocha-like richness and a wave of exotic spice. The texture is pure silk, wrapping the palate with seamless contours and lifted freshness courtesy of the cool growing season. A blend of 76% Zinfandel, 14% Petite Sirah, 7% Carignane, 2% Alicante Bouschet and 1% Mataro, the 2023 shows remarkable persistence and poise. If you know Lytton, you know these wines can age for decades—this one is clearly built for the long haul.
RouteStock Cabernet Sauvignon Route 29 Napa Valley 2023 750ml
Winemaker Description
This alluring Cabernet Sauvignon is amazingly complex and classic Napa Valley. The aroma is cedar, cola, dark black fruit and just a kiss of oak. The pallet is round, expansive, bright and complex with flavors of cocoa, coffee, fruit and herbs.
The wine fills the mouth but isn't dominated by any one element and finishing amazingly bright for Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the great joys of making Cabernet is blending the wine before bottling and this wine was so very fun to combine just the right amount of Cabernet Sauvignon with its power, Cabernet Franc for the beautiful wild aroma and flavor, a touch of Merlot for the dusty plum character, Malbec for violet notes and Petit Verdot for color and tannin.

Bonterra Vineyards Pinot Noir Organic Mendocino 2023 750ml
Winemaker Description
At Bonterra, we grow wine organically and sustainably, treating the land with deep respect. We plant native flowers around our grapes to attract beneficial bugs, and welcome songbirds and chickens into our vineyards to eat up pests. We even employ sheep to mow between the vines.
In our vineyards, every living thing is connected and we all work together to create pure, flavorful wine.< sourcing from celebrated Mendocino County vineyards with various microclimates and soil types results in a complex, bright, fruit forward Pinot Noir. After hand harvesting, the fruit was gently de-stemmed and moved to small open-top fermenters for a three-day cold soak. It was then inoculated with select yeast strains for fermentation. The cap was punched down daily to reach the desired color and level of phenols.
After a gentle pressing in a basket press, the wine was settled and transferred to 100% French oak barrels where it underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak for ten months and then fined with organic egg whites prior to bottling. This Pinot Noir has aromas of strawberry and raspberry, accented with hints of oak spice and vanilla. In the mouth, this wine is rich with nice soft tannins and flavors of berries, vanilla and spice that fade into a lovely long finish.

Hahn Estates Cabernet Sauvignon Nicky Hahn California 2024 750ml
Winemaker Description
The extraction of this wine is apparent at the outset. The wine displays a color reminiscent of what the Burmese cal ka-la-ngoh or -crying-Indian- ruby, characterized by an almost black color with crimson highlights. There is a fine balance on the nose of black cherry, anise, olive, and cedar.
Rich, ripe and sweet flavors of dark fruits, raspberry, and hard candies that finish with a whiff of tobacco. The tannins have a fine but firm grip and are suspended by the acid core that stays in the mouth through the finish.
Since I now live in an Atkin’s-friendly household, I get to try my wines with a variety of wonderful meats.
Try a rack of lamb with a sundried cherry sauce or perhaps medellions with cranberry dijon chutney.- Adam LaZarre, Winemaker
Melville Chardonnay Santa Rita Hills 2023 750ml

Debra of 67Wine writes 91 Points | This cool climate chardonnay, energetic, lively, fresh and concentrated , comes from Melville's Santa Rita Hills Estate.
Polished, refined, linear with ample depth, shows a harmonious balance of acidity and flavors of ripe apple fruits, citrus and a spicy finish.
For 'old world' chardonnay drinkers, this 'new world' chardonnay may just appeal to you.
Expert Review - Vintage 2023
Vinous 94 Points | The 2023 Chardonnay Estate is exquisite. Floral and lifted, with striking precision, the Melville Chardonnay makes such a strong case for why Chardonnay is so ideally suited here. Lemon confit, jasmine and light tropical inflections are some of the notes that grace this sublimely elegant white. Bright acids pull it all together on the finish. I would give the 2023 six months to a year in bottle, as it is pretty tightly wound at this stage.
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points | Ripe lemon and citrus fruits, some minty herbs, and chalky minerality all emerge from the 2023 Chardonnay Estate Sta. Rita Hills, a clean, vibrant, focused Chardonnay that has solid acidity, beautiful overall balance and texture, and a great finish. The estate comes all from the Melville Vineyard and was raised in neutral oak.

Powerful and ample, it marries the natural intensity of the year with the savoriness that makes Howell Mountain Cabernets so distinctive. Dark blue/purplish fruit, graphite, spice, leather, dried herbs and lavender imbue the 2017 with striking intensity and character. I can't wait to see how it ages. The 2017 is a positively stunning edition of the Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Drinking 2027 - 2047.
Robert Parker Joe Czerwinski 96 Points | Already more open than the 2018 Howell Mountain, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain boasts slightly piney, resinous herb notes—thyme and rosemary—along with classic cassis and blueberry fruit. Yes, there's a cedary coat of oak, but the fruit comes through loud and clear, adding a rich, velvety textural component and mouthwatering berry flavors on the lingering finish. Drinking 2025 - 2040 - Robert Parker Wine Advocate 96+
Wine Spectator James Molesworth 95 Points | Fresh ripe cassis, blackberry and plum fruit flavors course through, carried by tar and apple wood notes that are well-embedded, giving this a muscular but sleek feel. Opus One Oakville Napa Valley 2021 750ml
Expert Reviews
Jan Anson 100 Points | A classical vintage that perfectly suits the Opus style. Gorgeous vivid plum colour, sculpted, balanced, with a ton of lift, waves of rose petals, iris and peony, soft grilled cumin, sage and white pepper spice. Love the hidden power here and the supple slightly chalky tannins that are structured in their architecture with a precision and carved quality. Precise, layered and stretched out, a brilliant Opus, concentrated and yet delicate. Feels pared back and captures the spirit of early Opus, when it moved forward the conversation of what Napa could be. Michael Silacci director, 100% new oak for ageing extremely well integrated even now.
James Suckling 99 Points | An enticing aroma of violets, cherry blossoms, fresh blue and black fruit and great structure define this beautiful, age-worthy wine. Subtle layering of fruit and oak spices between firm, fine-grained and supportive tannins gives it a calm intensity. So elegant and polished. Hints of cinnamon and graphite accent blackcurrant and blueberry flavors that linger and grow in a long finish. Already attractive to drink, but best after 2029.
Decanter 98 Points | The 2021 Opus One is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, and half a percent each of Malbec and Merlot. It was aged up to 19 months in 100% new French oak. It's a seamless wine with balletic elegance and grace. From a deep ruby-crimson colour comes heady red and violet floral notes, sandalwood, and rich brown spices nuanced by graphite and dried sagebrush. Medium to full-bodied with ultrafine-grained tannins, almost powdery, with gorgeous cranberry and raspberry fruits and a kind of juicy, woody, crushed pomegranate seed character. You really can't believe how light and ephemeral this wine is.
The Wine Independent 98 Points | The 2021 Opus One is composed of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, and 0.5% each of Merlot and Malbec. It was bottled in July 2023. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes barreling out of the glass with gregarious notions of creme de cassis, wild blueberries, and redcurrant jelly followed by hints of cedar chest, sassafras, vanilla pod, and dark chocolate plus a waft of lilacs. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers shimmery red, black, and blue fruit layers with a firm texture of rounded tannins and impressive tension, finishing long and fragrant.
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points | The 2021 Opus One is brilliant and I think one of the finest wines made from this estate. Deep ruby/purple-hued, with a gorgeous perfume of cassis, darker raspberries, spicy oak, and obvious minerality, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, lots of ripe tannins, and a great finish. It shines on all accounts and is complex, nuanced, textured, and beautifully balanced. It will have 30 years of prime drinking.

Domaine Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Santa Cruz Mountains 2019 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2019
Antonio Galloni of Vinous writes 94 Points | The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is such a sexy wine. Plush, deep and seductive, the 2019 is an opulent beauty the likes of which I don't think I have ever tasted here. A rush of black plum, tobacco, incense, dried herbs and licorice makes a strong first impression. Time in the glass brings out the wine's compelling aromatic nuances. Silky and plush, with tremendous depth, the 2019 is a huge overachiever. I loved it.

2019 was a beautiful year for grape growing in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The winter was generous with moisture and coolness. The spring was stormy in May, but the late-season Bordeaux varieties escaped harm and set a modest crop. The harvest schedule was more typical and started in late September and into October, which was encouraging. This wine is a composite of our appellation, produced from five distinct vineyards. All of them are a short distance from Domaine Eden, with our staff farming the majority. When we started this in 1999, we wanted to offer a wine reflecting our region, which is unlike any other. A coastal, high elevation, Cabernet-based Bordeaux blend made to the Mount Eden style--structured and terroir-driven--that is also ageable and affordable. All fermentations were indigenous, with no fining or filtration. There are loamy earth scents along with currant, blackberry and cedar. The palate is bright with blue fruit, acidity and balanced tannins. A good cellar choice for the next 7-12 years.
Ramey Cellars Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2023 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2023
Decanter 95 Points | Sourced from Lafranchi, Westside Farms, Sonoma Foothills, Martinelli Laughlin, Kilcullen, Dutton Sebastopol, and Frank Johnson—all cool-climate sites with low-vigour soils such as Goldridge loam, planted between 1978 and 2017 and aged for 12 months on the lees in barrel (10% new French oak). This is clean and sleek, a beautifully balanced medium-bodied Chardonnay with luxuriously ripe stone and orchard fruit. Exotic baking spices complement layers of guava, white peach, and macerated mango with apricot. But what’s most impressive is the intensity and purity of the fruit—so precisely delineated, profoundly spicy, and laser-focused. At $50, this is one of the finest, most balanced, and well-structured Chardonnays from the Russian River Valley at this price point.
The Wine Advocate by Erin Brooks 95 Points | Grapes for the 2023 Chardonnay Russian River Valley were harvested over the course of a month, from initial picks on September 13 to the last pick on October 14. It was barrel-fermented, underwent full malolactic conversion and was matured for 12 months in 10% new French oak barrels. It has open, inviting aromas of stone fruit and pineapple, panna cotta, ginger, toasted brioche and honey. The palate combines concentrated, layered flavors with fireworks of fresh acidity, and it has a very long, perfumed finish.

Bonny Doon Vineyards Le Cigare Orange Wine 2024 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2024
Decanter Magazine by Amy Wislocki writes 92 Points | Bonny Doon’s winemaker Randall Grahm has triumphed again here (the Bonny Doon red and white at Tesco are also great buys). This mélange of Grenaches Blanc and Noir, Pinot Gris, Orange Muscat and Chenin Blanc is orange wine lite – orange wine for the mainstream, but delicious. The grape varieties were picked and fermented separately and the juice given around 15 days skin contact before blending. Fairly pale in colour for an orange wine, it’s fruit forward with aromas and flavours of peach and apricot, exotic fruit like kumquats, orange peel and soft spice. There’s a hint of pleasant bitterness and a little of the tannic grip that makes orange wine such a good gastronomic wine. Try it with simply grilled lamb chops. Vegan.

So right-thinking men all, they passed an ordinance prohibiting the landing of flying saucers or flying cigares in their vineyards. The ordinance further states that flying saucers or flying cigares that did land were to be taken immediately to the pound.

Expert Reviews 2022 Vintage
James Suckling writes: A well-made, balanced and textured cabernet sauvignon showing notes of dark berries, sweet spices and some chocolate wafers. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Mellow, seductive and generous finish. Drink or hold. - James Suckling 90
Wine Enthusiast - 91 Points: This wine is robust and rich, with dark berry, plum, tarragon and maple aromas on the nose. The flavors on the palate are supple, sun-kissed blackberry, cassis, orange slices and dried tobacco, creating a classic wine.
The Tasting Panel Magazine - 91 Points: Perfumed with savory herbs and spices, this is a showcase of a classic California Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit-forward yet pleasantly rustic, notes of rhubarb and cigar box linger with a hint of smoke.
Winemaker Notes (2022 Vintage)
We source fruit from diverse vineyards to create complex aromas and a rich structure for our North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. The mountain fruit provides velvety tannins and aromas, and flavors of cherry and black pepper with a hint of herbs. The valley floor fruit complements with cherry, plum, and dark fruit flavors. This is a complex wine worthy of savoring!
