Michter’s U.S. 1 Unblended American Whiskey is one of the most distinctive and misunderstood bottles in American whiskey — and one of the most rewarding. Unlike Bourbon, which by law must be aged in new, charred American oak, Michter’s Unblended American is aged in used, whiskey-soaked barrels, producing a spirit that sits in its own category: richer, more spirit-forward, and free from the constraints of any legal definition. Crucially, it never contains grain neutral spirits — hence the “unblended” distinction that sets it apart from blended American whiskeys. In late 2013, Master Distiller Willie Pratt re-released the U.S. 1 after a nearly three-year absence, declaring it “just right” and “the best it’s ever been.”

The nose is warm and generous: caramel popcorn, butterscotch, and dried fruits with a gentle lift of cinnamon and nutmeg spice. On the palate, it is smooth and approachable — the used-barrel aging delivering a rounder, more mellow character than a typical Bourbon, with a long, warming finish that rewards slow sipping. Situated within the picturesque Spey valley, Rothes is home to five distilleries all tucked along the tiny main street - unbeknown to passing visitors. Amongst these is Glenrothes hidden in a small glen on the outskirts of the village. 

Today Glenrothes single malt is used as the heart of Cutty Sark blended whisky. Approaching the distillery your eyes are drawn to the right where the village graveyard stretches up the hill. As whisky matures it evaporates, this is known as 'the angels share.' Feeding off the evaporated whisky is a black sooty fungus, which gives an eerie atmosphere to the place. The blackened grave stones under the shadows of tall trees surrounded by distillery buildings.

Tasting Notes: Toasted malt with fruit aromas, hints of green apples and fresh coconut. A subtle salty sea air is also present. Sweet with floral and fruit flavours, banana, and lemonade with a slight walnut edge.

With a mellow yet complex flavor, this rum offers tobacco and leather notes, toasted and smoky. The rounded rum offers a balance that can only be achieved through the Solera method. Winemaker Description 

This traditional grappa has a clear, intense golden yellow to amber color. The nose is delicate and complex, with hints of bread, orange peel, wild flowers, elderberry, vanilla, plum, dried fruits, raisins and amaretto. 

The taste is smooth, rich, velvety, tannic and harmonious, exploding at the back of the mouth with authoritative aromas and long-lasting persistence, leaving notes of vanilla, almond, cocoa, tobacco, licorice and walnut bread.

This traditional grappa has a bright, crystal clear color. The aroma is aromatic, intense, enveloping the nose with fine, fresh fragrant and delicate floral notes of breir rose petals, orange blossoms, lily of the valley, elderberry, sage, citrus fruit and typical Moscato scents.

The fruit comes through on the smooth, well-rounded palate, with apple and pineapple dominant. There are background notes of bread crust.
