Luxardo Maraschino is one of the world’s great spirits — and one of the very few liqueurs produced by true distillation rather than simple maceration. The recipe traces its origins to the apothecaries of the Dominican monastery at Zara (now Zadar, Croatia), where Marasca cherries and honey were first combined into a medicinal elixir.
