From certified sustainable, biodynamic practicing orchards just outside of beautiful Ithaca, NY (it really is gorges!). Made from a huge assortment of different apple varieties.  

This is a delicious, dry cider that is crisp, fresh and clean. Redbyrd is a shining star in the movement of a small number of New York cider producers intent on reinvigorating the glory of traditional ciders. Winemaker Description. 

Wine Advocate 93 Points | They look for a more classical expression in the 2019 De la Finca, a selection of vineyards by Pepe Raventós's grandfather, produced in a slightly more oxidative style and aged for 30+ months with lees. 2019 was a very good and "normal" vintage, with good rain, normal yields and a paused harvest. This has more smokiness from the contact with the yeasts and lees with very fine bubbles, subtle, defined by how they prepare the second fermentation in bottle and then the aging in the bottle. 

Situated on the highest terraces of the River Anoia, the Vinya dels Fòssils vineyard has marine soils with a high fossil content. This characterises the structure and the soil composition of this vineyard. The carbonates are the component that provides the main source of typicity to this sparkling wine with a high saline expression. It is a sparkling wine with a unique identity and personality. Lichtenberger González Muschelkalk Weiss is an organic white wine made with the Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc and Welschriesling varieties in Leithaberg (Burgenland) by the Austrian winery Lichtenberger González.

Wines made on this small estate in the town of Breitenbrunn (between Lake Neusiedl and the Leitha mountains) are the result of a collaboration between two pioneering organic winemakers. On the one hand, Austrian Martin Burgenlander brings knowledge of his land and, on the other, Spaniard Adriana González brings her passion for wine. This results in a limited production of organic wines that follow the course of nature.

The Lichtenberger González Muschelkalk Weiss vineyards are planted in limestone and slate soils, and stand out for being well aligned and well ventilated. In addition, they do not use any chemicals that could destabilise the strain’s natural balance. Once the grape reaches optimum ripeness, it is harvested by hand.

When the Lichtenberger González Muschelkalk Weiss grape reaches the winery, it ferments spontaneously on lees in used barrels with little movement.

Meinklang Burgenland Red 2022 is an exuberant and vivacious red wine. As one brings the glass closer to the nose, a bouquet of ripe red fruits unfurls, featuring cherries and raspberries, complemented by a subtle spicy note that beckons the first taste.

On the palate, its youthfulness is manifested in an unexpectedly zesty freshness, with fruit flavors that evoke a stroll through an orchard in the height of summer. Its velvety texture and pleasing finish ensure that each sip is thoroughly enjoyable. 

91 Points Wine Enthusiast | Graceful and elegant, this Pinot Noir opens shyly, with wisps of smoked red cherries, dark roast Sumatran coffee and a touch of citrus. Tart Bing cherry and black tea flavors are complemented by a meaty note similar to a seared pork tenderloin. The wine’s texture is a smooth as its tannins are silky. (2019).

91 Points Wine & Spirits | Tarry and dark, this wine has an assertive burst of red-cherry flavor in the middle palate, framed by vanilla-y oak, the texture seductively plush and broad. For the cellar. (2019).

Winemaker Description

This ‘Sea and Mountains’ wine (Catalan) is a combination of equal parts Syrah and Grenache (45% each) with a touch of Grenache added for good measure. Juice is semi-carbonically vinified in cement, which keeps the wine fresh, light on its feet, and easy to drink. 

Notes of red fruit, wet rocks, and garrigue dominate the wine’s seriously satisfying palate. For a delicious taste of the Roussillon, look no further than this bottle.

Made from organically grown grapes, our Pinot Noir has a dry palate with heavenly cherry flavors. The finish expresses light tannins with hints of oak and vanilla. Only 435 cases of this limited edition wine were produced.

The Domaine de la Grand'Cour is located in the Beaujolais region and has vineyards in the Fleurie (9 hectares) and Brouilly (1.6 hectares) appellations. The Domaine was purchased in 1969 by Jean Dutraive, it is one of the oldest properties in Fleurie. Jean Dutraive was joined by his son Jean-Louis in 1977 and was permanently succeeded in 1989.

The vineyard has always been managed in organic farming and has been certified since 2009. The Dutraive family also has a commercial activity; They source their grapes from organic winegrowing friends and develop other wines.

Les Perelles is a small production wine from the Dutraive family, made from fruit purchased from Paul-Henri Thillardon in Chénas, who kindly sold them a good portion of the grapes after storms devastated their Fleurie plots.

Winemaker Description 

Silky tannins, intense and complex aromas with an invigorating vibration. The tannins’ maturity is balanced by the terroir’s mineral liveliness. A juicy and flavorful fruit makes it delicious from its early years, but its expression will grow in complexity over 10 years.

The 2017 La Tâche Grand Cru soars from the glass with a captivating and beautifully integrated bouquet of exotic spices, rose petals, raspberries, cherries and blood orange mingled with notions of cinnamon and coniferous forest floor. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with a deep and tightly coiled core that marks it out as the most muscular wine in the cellar, displaying considerable concentration and largely concealed structure. While this is a dramatic young La Tâche, there's evidently plenty held in reserve, too, and it simply has appreciably more presence than any of the other wines that preceded it in this tasting. Delightful dark berry and pomegranate notes laced with earth and cola are dominant in this dry, but fruity, fresh and supple organic and biodynamic Pinot Noir.

Pale lemon color. On the nose, citrus, tropical and flower blossom notes. Flavors of citrus fruits, peach and mango while emerging hints of white flowers. Pairs with fish, sea-food, salads, white meat, and fruits. Winemaker Description. 

Made with a mixture of raisined grapes and others with botrytis, it is an excellent example of a Coteaux du Layon from the Loire, which brings together the best of two worlds. This delicious dessert wine is made 50:50 of noble rot and late harvest grapes. Made biodynamically and with natural yeast, it exhibits succulent flavours of mango, pineapple, and sweet spices such as saffron. A very high acidity makes this wine quite refreshing considering how sweet it is. An organic xarel·lo wine with minimum intervention.
 
From the flagship variety of the Penedès, the xarel-lo, comes this organic single-varietal wine. Calcari brings together the purest and most sincere expression of this ancestral variety, native to our territory and strongly rooted in our winemaking tradition.

Its characteristics give it great versatility, making it a variety suitable for the production of long-aged sparkling wines or wines with minimal intervention such as Calcari, a wine that allows us to see its great expressive capacity and its mineral characte.

Habla de Ti 2022 is an enchanting white wine, captivating with its vivacity and lightness. On the nose, it unfurls a spectrum of scents reminiscent of crisp green asparagus and sweet mango, complemented by an herbaceous hint of tomato leaf. Upon tasting, its exuberant nature is affirmed with flavors of tropical fruits that pirouette across the palate, leaving a lasting and exceedingly delightful impression. Delicate, micro-production & precise øø wines from Baden, Germany, rapturously referred to as the hot-bed of classic Burgundy-indebted Pinot Noir. (and, of course, Riesling)

Philipp Reiß is currently in the process of converting his family estate from grape growers to wine producers, and these are the first, errr - fruits of that labor to make it stateside. 

A profound expression of Riesling that, despite having zero additives, sure calls for a decant and some hours for it to truly unfurl its majestic crystalline reach.

Winemaker Description

Produced from 100% Tinto Fino from vines age 30 years, aged 12 months in French Oak with minimal filtration. The result is a wine with a beautiful ruby colour with deep and intense aromas of red and black fruit with hints of liquorice and spice. The palate elegant and fresh with predominant fruit structure balanced by soft tannins and a lovely expressive finish.

It has the tannic richness of Ribera del Duero Tinto Fino, and smoky power from its oak, but the wine carries itself with some delicacy, its crisp fruit bringing fresh air.

Dominio Romano was established in 2005 when the Pares Balta family decided to to initiate a project in Ribera del Duero. Selecting the finest old and wild Tinto Fino vines in the best terroirs of the region, and farming with the utmost respect for the environment and tradition, the family produces wines that transmit the character of the autochthonous grape.

Critics Notes

Burghound 91-93 Points | Here the wood treatment is no long subtle though neither does it dominate the pretty spice, floral and red berry aromas that display a mentholated top note. The sleek, delicious and appealingly vibrant medium-bodied flavors possess good delineation that carries over to the sappy, powerful finish that offers both very fine depth and persistence. This is a bit woody today but the oak should integrate with a few years of keeping. (Drink starting 2033)". (2021). 

Vinous 91-93 Points | The 2021 Pommard Les Chaponnières 1er Cru, matured in 40% new oak, has a complex nose, quite tertiary to the extent that it deceives you into thinking there might be some stems. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins, moderate depth, fresh and saline with a pliant, cassis and blueberry-tinged finish. Very fine. (Drink between 2025-2037)" 01/23. (2021).

A classic Pommard with a good structure. A complex nose with hints of red fruits, spices and flowers. The mouth is well balanced and structured, with ripe and sweet tannins.

A Tempranillo with a small addition of 5% Viura, i.e. white grapes. This is not only unusual on the Côte-Rotie of the Northern Rhône, but also in the Rioja and the Ribera del Duero. The base wine already shows why the future of this prestigious region lies in the high altitudes of Rioja Alavesa. The cool nights up here create a unique freshness, a purity of fruit and wonderful floral-playful aromas.

Clearly violet to the black cherry, also blueberry, just very delicate hints of plum underneath, overall a lot of bright, fresh fruit, stimulating and clear as a bell. And the mouth is just as brilliantly polished and juicy, dark wild berries and a fine-grained, but by no means softened tannin structure make Artuke's quality and ripeness standards clear even in the basic segment. A beautiful, even slightly salty, precise high-altitude Tempranillo full of fruit and without any influence of wood. Winemaker Description.

A bright antique gold wine. The bouquet is complex and inviting with notes of baked apple, quince jelly, biscuit crumb, spice and orange zest. To taste, there’s great intensity and lovely refreshing acid balance, with touches of stone fruit, peach and orange zest enhanced by a hint of sweet spice and a sapid, saline finish that lingers. A definite step-up in complexity and structure thanks to tiny yields and old vines.

Pair with meat or soup as starters, main dishes with truffles, grilled fish and poultry.

Full-bodied and elegantly structured, the savory palate features dried Marasca cherry, blood orange, star anise and black tea set against taut, fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2028. (2018).

The 2019 Bernardot is dark and austere with wonderful nuances of ripe red fruit. Tannins are very silky and delicate in this 2019, showing a lot of finesse, typical from the Barbaresco area. It’s an elegant and very expressive Barbaresco. One of the favorite vineyards of winemaker Alessandro Ceretto.

Wine Advocate Monica Larner 95 Points writes | The organic Ceretto 2019 Barbaresco Bernadot shows a broader character and a more open-knit personality compared to the Asili. There is a lot of dark fruit, spice, truffle and earth to frame the medium-build of this elegant wine.  (2019).

Winemaker Description

The Gratavinum winery is located in the Priorat D.O.Q. of Spain was founded by the Cusiné family as a project to craft the most traditional wines from Penedés. This family also owns the Parés Baltà winery in Penedés and the Dominio Romano winery in the Ribera del Duero.

Following the Cusiné family philosophy of winemaking, all of the wines by the Gratavinum winery have been certified organic since 2004 and this winery pays the utmost respect to the environment and biodiversity of the region.

The Gratavinum winery crafts wines from the classic grapes of this region, Grenache and Cariñena, along with two very well adapted foreign grape varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

The enologists at Gratavinum have adapted their winemaking to include new techniques and systems to craft organic wines that present the maximum expression of their grapes.

Domaine Zafeirakis’s 12 ha (30 acres) of vines are planted in Tyrnavos, in the foothills of Mount Olympos (seen in the image below) in Thessaly in the east of central mainland Greece. The winery is marked near the town of Larissa on this World Atlas of Wine map of Greece. This is a perfect spot for Limniona, a thick-skinned and high-acid grape which loves hot days and cool nights.

Jancis Robinson states as follows: The 50 Great Greek Wines. Zafeirakis Limniona 2019 was one of my favourite reds in the selection I tasted. It was already showing some signs of the interactions that happen between the many components in a wine when it ages in bottle (in those wines not made for immediate consumption), so that while all that lovely dark and dark-red fruit and the gentle spice notes provide delicious intensity and freshness – more blackberry and cherry than blackcurrant or strawberry – there’s now also the first signs of complexity, flavours that are much harder to describe because they are so special to high-quality, maturing red wine. 
The tannins are starting to soften though not yet silky, and while there is no rush to drink this, it is perfect now: a tantalising array of aromas and flavours to capture your attention even if you have indulged in a late-December flavour-fest or have opened one or two expensive bottles saved for special occasions. The last two lines in my tasting note read: ‘A sophisticated wine that still packs a punch. Seriously moreish.

Originating from wild vines, Orangetraube was first selected as a recognized varietal in 1840 and has been a part of the Zahel family's field blends (Gemischter Satz) since the winery began in 1930, but only produced as a monovarietal white since 1954.

Two generations later, Alexander Zahel is the last remaining producer of this unique treasure of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. 

This unique historic variety from Vienna's vineyards is fresh, complex, and edgy, with under ripe stone fruit and zippy acidity. Winemaker Description.
