Buffalo Trace Bourbon Kentucky Straight Whiskey 750ml
Expert Review
Wine Enthusiast: 90-95 Points | Pleasantly sweet nose. Medium body and sticky-toffee flavor. This would be great mixed into cocktails, because the flavor is smooth but bold at the same time; it would blend without being completely lost. Finishes mellow, smooth, with just enough alcohol bite. Easy to like. Think Manhattans and Old-Fashioneds.
Angel's Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Wine Barrels 750ml
Barbara Chapman, La Bourbonessa:
Take a perfectly balanced, gentle bourbon (86.6% proof) redolent of vanilla, sugar and the rich notes of ripe berries, present it in a heavenly lyre-shaped bottle adorned with a pair of wings, and you’ve created a whiskey worthy of the angels’ envy. This warmly copper-hued bourbon is a work of art, conceived by the late, legendary distiller Lincoln Henderson and his son, Wes. The Hendersons were creative pioneers in the now-widespread practice of finished bourbons. Angel’s Envy Port Finish is blended in small batches of 8-12 barrels at a time, typically aged up to 6 years before the additional finishing time of 3 to 6 months in 60 gallon French oak ruby port wine barrels imported from Portugal.
The result is subtle luxury. Angel’s Envy is smooth, light and plainly so delicious it’s bound to please bourbon drinkers from newly minted bourbonites to seasoned aficionados. You’d be wise to have a bottle of Angel’s Envy wing its way to your bourbon shelf. After all, everyone deserves a sip of heaven.
Producer Description
Our bourbon starts with the native Kentucky climate and soil in which our corn and rye are grown, and a pristine limestone watershed rich in calcium and magnesium. These local ingredients are distilled and aged for four to six years in American white oak barrels. Because we want to create a genuinely unique spirit, we age it for three to six additional months in hand-selected port casks to create an exceptionally smooth and nuanced bourbon.
Critic Notes
Wine Enthusiast 98 Points | A beautiful, mouthwatering newcomer to the whiskey scene. Named for the "angel's share," the portion that evaporates from the barrel during the aging process, this golden amber spirit is finished in Port barrels, which explains those juicy red-fruit notes that slide into the long finish. Look for orange peel, vanilla and roasted nut flavors, too.
Jim Beam Bourbon White Label 1.0L LITER
Producer Description
Elegant. Smooth. Refined. That’s what 4 years of aging in newly charred American white oak barrels does to our bourbon. But every drop is worth the effort, and we love the idea of sticking to our great-great-grandfather’s recipe.
Knob Creek Bourbon Small Batch 9 Year 1.0L LITER
Expert Reviews
92 Points Wine Enthusiast | Delicious but fiery, this nine-year-old small-batch Bourbon offers deep toffee aromatics and bold flavor. On the palate, look for relatively dry flavors: leather, cedar, dried orange peel. A splash of water softens the profile to bring out more vanilla, honey, even a touch of chocolate.
90 Points Whisky Advocate | Knob was one of the first bourbons I had when I started taking whiskey seriously, and it’s still a kicker. No-nonsense, flint-hard nose: slickly-polished oak furniture, cinnamon stick, cracked rye, wet cornmeal, hard candies. Bang! A lean whiskey that gets in your mouth and explodes with rye spice and cinnamon candy, a sharp wedge that opens you right up. The finish echoes: oak, a dying fire, clean and almost crisp. Emphatic, bright, and swift. Value Pick

96–100 Points Wine Enthusiast | The opening aromas are complex, including milk chocolate, marshmallow and freshly mown hay. Palate entry is sweet and mildly oaky; by midpalate, there’s an embers-glow warmth, followed by woodsy tastes of vanilla and almond butter. Finish shows a touch of honey.

Producer Description
EH Taylor Jr Single Barrel carries lightly toasted oak aromas, with dried figs and butterscotch. The first sip brings forward flavours of sweetness balanced with tobacco and dark spices. Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. is widely considered as one of the founding fathers of the bourbon industry. He fought for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897.
That was nearly three decades after he purchased what is now called Buffalo Trace Distillery. During his time in charge, Taylor implemented several innovative methods still used today, including climate-controlled ageing warehouses like Warehouse C, built by Taylor in 1885. Each barrel is hand-picked and Bottled in Bond at 100 proof to honour its namesake.

Expert Review
Wine Enthusiast 91 Points | Aged for eight years—twice as long as regular Jim Beam—this Bourbon offers rich caramel aroma and flavor. Though it's a little fiery from the first sip, moderating the heat with water brings out a saline lick that makes for a salted caramel impression, fading to vanilla on the long finish. Best Buy.

In the 1830’s our Woodford County distillery was the setting for a series of discoveries and innovative practices that today define the bourbon industry. For this 2021 Master’s Collection release Master Distiller Chris Morris and Assistant Master Distiller, Elizabeth McCall have drawn upon that rich history and their own interests for inspiration.
In Kentucky, a fermented grain mash is traditionally called “distiller’s beer”. Distillation converts this “beer” into a spirit that will become a “Whiskey” once barreled.
This Master’s Collection is our take on crafting a spirit that exhibits the flavors of a classic beer style, in this case a rich, roasted malty stout.
“Our distillery building was constructed by Irish stonemasons in 1838. That, plus the fact that we distill in the “Irish” style with triple pot stills inspired us to mash and distill an Irish style stout beer.” – Elizabeth McCall
The result is the Fall 2021 Master’s Collection release named Five-Malt Stouted Mash, a rich and darkly robust expression of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey.
J. Rieger Sweet Mash Non Chill Filtered Straight Bourbon Whiskey 90 Proof 750ml
Producer Description
And say “Cheers!” to great bourbon! We’re proud to present the inaugural bottling of Rieger Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the spirit that represents the next chapter in the J. Rieger & Co. story and introduces to the world the 90-proof bourbon we’ve been dreaming of since reviving the distillery back in 2014. This one is special. Starting with how we make it. While the vast majority of bourbon distilleries in the United States utilize the sour mash process out of tradition, J. Rieger & Co. is among a small group of pioneers embracing the more innovative use of sweet mash fermentation.
Creating a sweet mash bourbon isn’t easy, but one taste will tell you it’s worth it. While this approach requires more attention to detail, it allows us more flexibility to create the smoothest, most flavorful whiskey. Next, we employ a unique two-step distillation process that leverages both our pot still and our column still. Again, this process takes more time but affords our distillers more control to create a whiskey with the ultimate mouthfeel and texture, heightening the richness and depth of flavor.
Finally, it’s into the barrel for at least four years of aging in our Kansas City rickhouse for even more character and layering of flavors. The result? A spectacularly delicious, easy-drinking, and approachable bourbon. One that will be a welcome presence in both retail and home bars. One that is inherently mixable, making every cocktail more special. One that will stand the test of time, delighting experienced bourbon drinkers and no doubt bringing new enthusiasts into the fold.
