Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Biodynamic Organic 2022 750ml

Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Biodynamic Organic 2022
About the Producer

Avignonesi is one of Tuscany's most celebrated and progressive estates. Under the leadership of Virginie Saverys, it has become a benchmark for biodynamic and organic viticulture in Italy. Their Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is sourced from high-altitude vineyards where clay-rich soils and diurnal temperature swings produce Sangiovese of exceptional freshness, acidity, and complexity.

Winemaker's Notes

Bright purplish-red in colour with vibrant intensity. On the nose, small red berries and pomegranate open alongside the unmistakable violet note typical of quality Sangiovese, with subtle hints of vanilla and delicate oak. On the palate, the entry is lively and well-balanced — expressive and crisp, with sweet notes of ripe cherry, plum jam, and nuances of liquorice on the finish. Dynamic and elegant body, well-defined tannins, and a smooth, enveloping texture. A fresh streak of acidity carries the persistent finish.

Food Pairings
  • Meats: Roast lamb with rosemary, wild boar ragù, Bistecca alla Fiorentina.
  • Pasta: Pici with aglione or mushroom risotto.
  • Cheese: Aged Pecorino Toscano. A natural partner for traditional Tuscan fare.

Avignonesi Grifi Toscana Organic Biodynamic 2022 750ml

Winemaker Description

Grifi is born from two late-ripening grape varieties — one Italian, the other French. An incredible blend where the freshness of Sangiovese blends perfectly with the backbone of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Sangiovese is sourced from Avignonesi’s vineyards in Montepulciano, producing a spicy, elegant wine, while the Cabernet Sauvignon comes from plots in Cortona and Montepulciano, lending tannins and structure. To facilitate the encounter of these two varieties, the grapes are harvested and fermented together.

Dark ruby red with purple hues. The nose opens with hints of blueberries, blackberries, and incense, moving on to graphite and vanilla nuances. In the mouth it is dense, broad, and complex with hints of plum and blueberry, evolving into a balsamic and spicy explosion supported by good acidity. Lively tannins accompany the savory, persistent finish.

Certified Organic and Biodynamic.

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand 2025 750ml

Cloudy Bay · Sauvignon Blanc · Marlborough · 2025

In 1985, Cloudy Bay planted vines in Marlborough and changed the world’s understanding of what Sauvignon Blanc could be. Before Cloudy Bay, New Zealand was a footnote in the global wine conversation. After it, Marlborough became a benchmark — a name synonymous with cool-climate precision, electric aromatics, and a style of white wine that no other region on earth replicates quite the same way. Four decades on, the estate remains the standard-bearer: sourcing from across Marlborough’s diverse sub-regions, blending with meticulous care, and bottling under screwcap to preserve every last molecule of freshness. WN:93. At $28.89, this is the iconic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc — and one of the best values at this level of pedigree.

The 2025 is open and expressive from the first pour: peach, elderflower, makrut lime, and gooseberry on the nose, with a herbal lift and sea salt minerality that is unmistakably Marlborough. On the palate: bright lemon, white nectarine, and passionfruit, framed by refreshing acidity and a clean, steel-cut citrus finish with real precision and length. Drink now through 2027.

“Highly aromatic, with elderflower, citrus, and passionfruit. Crisp, textural, and elegant — a benchmark expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.”
— Wineanorak, 93 Points. (Vintage 2025).

"Concentrated and fragrant, with lemongrass, lemon verbena and celery salt notes to complement the pineapple, mango and lemon curd flavors, backed by a touch of orange sherbet. Gains momentum on the long, expressive finish." - The Wine Spectator, 93 Points. (Vintage 2025).

"The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc is fleshy and intense, as is the style of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, and there is enough savory extract and shape in the wine to elevate it beyond the norm. Here, we have grass clippings and brine, green olive tapenade, passion fruit and pineapple husk. The acidity is saline, and all elements work together toward a common goal. I recall, in context, this wine looking a little sweeter and fleshier than some of its regional peers, and yet here today in isolation, it looks tight, textural and composed. It's very good indeed. Cloudy Bay is a member of the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW). 13% alcohol." - The Wine Advocate, 94 Points. (Vintage 2025).

"Vivid, round and juicy, with lemons, limes, fresh herbs and some mild spices on the nose, following through to a medium body with fresh acidity. Lively and succulent, with a delicious finish packed with limes. - James Suckling, 92 Points. (Vintage 2025).

Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc Private Bin Marlborough 2024 750ml

Villa Maria · Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc · Marlborough · New Zealand · 2024

Villa Maria is one of New Zealand’s most decorated wine estates, and the Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc is the wine that put them on the world map. A blend of Marlborough’s two great valleys — Wairau and Awatere — it is the benchmark for what Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc does best: vivid tropical aromatics, bright acidity, and a freshness that makes every sip feel like the first. Consistent across every vintage, it earned 89 points from Wine Enthusiast (Best Buy), James Suckling, and Wine Advocate in 2024 — and delivers exceptional value at any price.

The 2024 bursts with intensely tropical aromas of passionfruit, lime curd, mango, and white pineapple, layered with cassis, green apple, and white pepper. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, tangy, and ultra-fresh — briny acidity, juicy peach and citrus, and a clean, herb-tinged finish. As Wine Enthusiast put it: like the first bite of a juicy, fuzz-covered peach on a mid-summer’s day.

Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2020 750ml

Jordan Winery · Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon · 2020

Jordan's 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon pairs the depth of ripe dark fruit with the freshness and acidity that define its balanced style. Black cherry, currant, and boysenberry meet delicate cedar, while blueberry, cranberry, and clove carry across a smooth, French-oak-framed palate.

Full-bodied and polished, with silky tannins and bright acidity, this Alexander Valley Cabernet is enjoyable now and has the structure to age gracefully. The winemaker recommends decanting for 60 minutes or cellaring through 2040.

Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2025 750ml

Dog Point Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc — Marlborough 2025

Dog Point Vineyard is the project of two Cloudy Bay veterans, Ivan Sutherland and James Healy, who set out to make a Sauvignon Blanc that transcends the region’s exuberant mainstream. Hand-harvested, whole-bunch pressed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts from organically grown grapes, Dog Point’s approach is one of restraint and terroir transparency. The 2025 earned 94 points from both James Suckling and Wine Advocate, and 93 from Wine Spectator — a wine of genuine character, savory, textural, and built to age.

The nose is complex and restrained: grapefruit, brine, green olives, limes, and a touch of salinity. On the palate, it is linear and vibrant — textural and salty, with honeysuckle, lemon oil, yuzu, pomelo, and lemongrass lingering effortlessly on a sleek, mouthwatering frame. Classy, sophisticated, and a world apart from the wham-bam Marlborough style.

🇳🇿 James Suckling 94 — “Restrained exuberance and a touch of salinity in the finish. Impressive handmade wine from organically grown grapes.” (Vintage 2025).
🇳🇿 Wine Advocate 94 — “Textural and salty, savory and complex. Classy — a sophisticated showing of the best attributes of the variety.” (Vintage 2025).
🇳🇿 Wine Spectator 93 — “Complex and highly detailed, with notes of honeysuckle and lemon oil, plus touches of saline and grilled Meyer lemon.” (Vintage 2025).

Justin Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2022 750ml

Justin Vineyard is one of Paso Robles' founding estates, established in 1981 in the Adelaida Hills — where calcareous soils, hot days, and dramatically cool nights create ideal conditions for Bordeaux-style Cabernet Sauvignon. Justin has become the benchmark producer of the appellation, crafting wines of genuine depth, balance, and approachability that rival Napa at a fraction of the price. The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is aged 14 months in traditional small oak barrels, built with the same care as the finest traditionally crafted Bordeaux-style wines.

The nose is aromatic and inviting: red raspberry and black cherry laced with vanilla, soft herbs, and warming spices. On the palate, it is dry, moderately full-bodied, and supple — bursting with bright red plum and ripe cherry, with velvety, well-integrated tannins and nuanced elements of caramel, toasted coconut, fennel, and sage. The long finish turns pleasantly savory with floral notes and a hint of pepper. Remarkably balanced and complex, with a fresh palate that invites another sip.

"Lush aromas of cherry, cinnamon, and candied pecan show on the inviting nose. The palate is silky and generous with ample cherry, vanilla, and spicecake flavors. This is a deeply satisfying and bold Cab at a very fair price." — Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast, 92 Points (Vintage 2023)

Heitz Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2021 750ml

A 99-Point Napa Cabernet That Outscores Cult Wines at Double the Price

Heitz Cellars is one of Napa Valley’s most storied estates, producing benchmark Cabernet Sauvignon since 1961. The 2021 Napa Valley Cabernet bounds from the glass with Heitz’s signature pure red cherry and redcurrant flavors, accented by mint, underbrush, and dark cocoa. With Napa Valley’s average Cabernet price cresting $100, this is a phenomenal value — outscoring some cult names at double the price, with the firm acidity and tannin structure to fascinate for decades.

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2021
  • Decanter — 99 pts: Remarkably pure and fresh. Pristine black cherry and blackberry, layered with beautiful violet aromas. Everything builds with precision and focus, supported by gorgeously firm, taut, mineral-rich tannins that bring energy and drive. Compact and tightly wound at this youthful stage, its intensity truly emblematic of the vintage.
  • James Suckling — 94 pts: Dark fruit aromas of blackberries, bitter chocolate, dried herbs, blackcurrants, black olives and graphite. Full-bodied with a textural, rounded mouthfeel and finely integrated tannins, leading to a savory, fruit-driven finish.
  • Wine Spectator — 94 pts: Ripe, fresh and focused, offering a lovely beam of red currant and plum coulis alongside savory, violet, tobacco and singed cedar hints. Finishes with a late twang of iron.
  • Vinous — 93 pts: Plump and vibrant with good up-front fruit and bright acids. Captures the essence of modern classicism typical of Heitz wines today. Floral overtones brighten the finish.

Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2025 750ml

Nobilo is one of New Zealand's most storied wine families, founded in 1943 when Nikola Nobilo emigrated from Croatia to New Zealand, bringing with him over 300 years of his family's winemaking heritage. An early champion of New Zealand wine, Nikola recognized the country's pristine landscapes — expansive sunlit valleys, rolling hills, and mineral-rich soils — as ideal for producing wines of exceptional freshness and character. His pioneering focus on quality and varietal expression helped shape the New Zealand wine industry into what it is today.

Marlborough, situated at the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island, is the country's most celebrated wine region and the spiritual home of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The region's long, sunny days and cool nights, combined with free-draining stony soils and a reliable maritime climate, produce grapes of remarkable intensity and aromatic precision. Nobilo sources fruit from carefully selected Marlborough vineyards, ensuring consistent quality and a vivid expression of the appellation's signature character.

The 2025 vintage is crafted to preserve the natural vibrancy of the fruit. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified with minimal intervention to maintain freshness, aromatics, and the clean, precise profile that defines Nobilo's style.

The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc opens with an expressive, aromatic nose of ripe passionfruit, pineapple, and zesty citrus, layered with subtle hints of fresh green herbs. On the palate, the wine is crisp and refreshing with mouthwatering acidity, vibrant tropical fruit flavors, and a clean, generous finish. Intensely flavored yet beautifully balanced — a quintessential expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon California 2022 750ml

Joel Gott Blend No. 815 Cabernet Sauvignon — California 2022

Joel Gott is one of California’s most beloved winemakers — a third-generation vintner who built his reputation on the simple idea that great wine should be approachable, consistent, and honestly priced. Blend No. 815 is his signature Cabernet Sauvignon — the number refers to the specific blend Joel crafts each vintage from select vineyards across California, always chasing the same benchmark of ripe fruit, velvety texture, and reliable quality. It has become one of the most recognized everyday Cabernets in the country, and for good reason: vintage after vintage, it delivers. The 2022 earned 90 points from Wine Enthusiast.

The color is a deep, concentrated ruby. The nose is layered and expressive: raspberries, blackberries, plum, and mocha, with savory notes of damp soil, charcoal, and a whisper of tar that steadily open with air into something genuinely complex. On the palate, red fruit leads into an asphalt minerality, dried plum, dark spice, and espresso bean — velvety tannins carrying through the mid-palate to a long, textured finish of black pepper and cedar. Familiar, satisfying, and built for the table.

Wine Enthusiast — 90 Points (Matt Kettmann) — “Savory, slightly reductive aromas of damp soil, charcoal, and tar meet with dark berry on the nose, steadily opening up with air. The palate’s asphalt minerality gives way to dried plum, dark spice, and espresso bean, making for a familiar experience.” (Vintage 2022).

Winemaker Description

On the palate, the wine is coating and expansive, unfolding in waves of ripe blackberry, spiced cherry, and cassis. Blend: 92.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.4% Petit Verdot.

James Suckling · 96 Points · 2023
Deep, dark and spicy with aromas of black and red currants, graphite, potpourri, dried flowers, herbs and wet river stones. The palate is full-bodied, offering generous texture, fine-grained tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish. Great tension and purity matched by plenty of generosity.

Jeb Dunnuck · 95 Points · 2023
Rocking aromatics of ripe, sweet cassis, graphite, spring flowers, and hints of classy, spicy oak all emerge from the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon. It's medium to full-bodied, has a focused, elegant mouthfeel, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. This is an incredibly classy, satisfying, and classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that should keep for 15-20 years if well stored. Drink 2025-2045.

Wine Spectator · 94 Points · 2023
This is well-realized, with a solidly ripe core of boysenberry and blackberry pâte de fruit that’s dense yet expressive, while licorice snap, violet, cast iron and menthol notes run through. Solidly grippy, with the vintage’s succulence driving the finish. Best from 2027 through 2038.

Wine Enthusiast · 94 Points · 2023
Focused aromas of blackberry compote, plum skin, violets, and coffee drive the nose of this Cabernet. The palate delivers bright acidity balancing grippy tannic structure and flavors of baked black cherry, currant, cinnamon, tobacco, and flowers across the finish.

Clos Henri Estate Sauvignon Blanc Organic 2025 750ml

Clos Henri · Estate Sauvignon Blanc · Marlborough · New Zealand · 2025

Clos Henri is the Marlborough outpost of the legendary Bourgeois family of Sancerre — and it shows in every glass. Planted at high density on a single estate in the Central Wairau Valley, where Otiran and Waimaungan glacial soils converge into three distinct terroirs — Wither Clay, Broadbridge Clay, and Greywacke Stones — this is organic Sauvignon Blanc with a French soul and a New Zealand heartbeat. The 2025 Estate earned 94 points from James Suckling and 93 from Wine Advocate, cementing its place among Marlborough’s most sophisticated whites.

The 2025 vintage was shaped by a cool, slow ripening season — overcast skies and lower temperatures through February and March — that delivered exceptional density and focus. The wine bursts with bright citrus: mandarin, yuzu blossom, meyer lemon zest, and pineapple, layered over acacia, hay, and a flinty, graphite-driven minerality. The palate is textural and round, with firm acidity, chalky structure, and a bone-dry, lingering mineral finish. Restrained, classy, and built to reward patience.

Expert Reviews - Vintage 2025

“Very elegant, superfloral and perfumed, with some flinty reduction, offering acacia blossoms, hay, fleshy lemons and a touch of elderberries. Medium-bodied with firm acidity giving structure and length. Attractive bitter-lemon note in the finish. Mineral and detailed with real focus. From organically grown grapes.”
— James Suckling · 94 Points

“The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc leads with graphite and cold tea, chalky tannins and dried grasses on the palate. The wine is far more subtle and restrained than many other Sauvignon Blancs tasted for this report, and this does fit with the assessment I hold for this producer over time. These are classy wines. This is a classy wine. Clos Henri is owned by the Bourgeois family of Sancerre (Domaine Henri Bourgeois), and it is clear that the sensibilities of their estate there are continued by their winemaker Damien Yvon here in Marlborough. This is an estate to put on your list. Clos Henri is a member of the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW) group. 13.5% alcohol.”
— Wine Advocate · 93 Points

“Quite restrained with subtle aromas of earth, green olive, green pineapple and a hint of gorse flowers. The palate harbours density and depth under the shell of acidity and phenolics. Gravel, hessian and wet stone complexity rise alongside a touch of dried spice on the bone-dry finish. Accessible and expressive, this mid-weight sauvignon oozes with sophistication.”

A wine for the grandest occasions — excellent with braised meats, game, richly flavored red meat dishes, and mature cheeses. Equally magnificent on its own at the end of a fine dinner.

Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2025 750ml

Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc — Marlborough 2025

Allan Scott Family Winemakers is one of Marlborough’s pioneering estates, and their Sauvignon Blanc has long been a benchmark for the region. The 2025 vintage is a textbook expression of what makes this corner of New Zealand so compelling — bright, fruit-driven, and unmistakably fresh, with enough texture and minerality to keep things interesting. James Suckling awarded it 91 points; Wine Spectator followed with 90, calling it “sleek and juicy.”

The nose is lively and aromatic: white berries, currant leaves, white roses, and hints of crushed stone with a spicy green edge. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied — crunchy, fresh, and juicy, with tropical fruit and zesty passionfruit balanced by a tense, minerally finish. Clean, dry, and built for the table.

🇳🇿 James Suckling 91 • Wine Spectator 90 — “An elegant style, with lime sorbet, quince, Fuji apple and lemon zest, all on a sleek and juicy frame that lingers.” (Vintage 2025).
