Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. is widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the American bourbon industry. A visionary distiller, businessman, and legislator, Taylor fought tirelessly for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 — landmark legislation that established strict federal standards for American whiskey production, protecting consumers and elevating the craft. He purchased what is now Buffalo Trace Distillery nearly three decades before that, implementing innovations still in use today, including climate-controlled aging warehouses such as the iconic Warehouse C, built by Taylor himself in 1885.

The E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch is produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery and bottled in strict accordance with the Bottled-in-Bond Act: aged a minimum of four years, distilled in a single distilling season by a single distillery, and bottled at exactly 100 proof (50% ABV). The bottle design pays homage to Colonel Taylor's original packaging from over a century ago — a fitting tribute to the man who made American bourbon what it is today.

The Small Batch opens with lightly toasted oak, dried figs, butterscotch, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, a pleasing sweetness is beautifully balanced by tobacco leaf, dark spices, and a touch of leather. The finish is long, warm, and satisfying — preparing the palate for another sip. Released in 2023, the Wild Turkey Master's Keep Voyage Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the latest edition to the coveted Master's Keep series. This premium 106-proof (53% ABV) iteration is a collaborative bottling between two Campari powerhouses - Master Distiller Eddie Russel and Appleton Estate Master Blender Joy Spence.

Master's Keep Voyage is said to be a 10 year old Kentucky bourbon whiskey finished for at least five weeks in hand-selected Appleton Estate ex-rum casks - casks which previously housed 14 year old pot still Jamaican rum. Offered in curated quantities, expect a nose of island fruits, citrus, and oak coated in molasses. The palate explores hints of caramel, brown sugar, and trails of warm spice. MIC.DROP. L22-01 Mic Drop started as a side project enabling PM Spirits to have access to American whiskey for our New York market – at the time, we had none to sell. The first few releases happened to be MGP for no particular reason others than the fact that out of all the casks we tasted, we felt these stood out most and met the criteria for the type of releases we wanted to make happen. After the third release, we started to wonder what Mic Drop should actually stand for. We decided to use it as a brand that would shine a spotlight on distillers and barrels that we felt were particularly good. 

Our fourth release was a rye whiskey produced by Wilderness Trail, simply because to us, they may very well be the best player in that category at the moment. In the middle of 2021, we stumbled upon something very, very different when a friend suggested we taste two specific barrels. They contained bourbon that was double distilled in Louisville, Kentucky on a Vendome copper pot still with a mashbill of 60% corn, 17% wheat, 13% oats, and 10% barley. They aged in Kentucky in two 60 gallon, new American oak barrels with a #2 char for a little over seven years. Total yield was 55.1 gallons – slightly over 54% evaporation.

This bottling was obtained by dumping together the only two casks of bourbon ever made with this mashbill at this distillery. It was double distilled on a copper pot still and aged for over seven years in Louisville, Kentucky. It has been bottled at a cask strength of 58% abv, without chill filtration or added color. This extremely hearty whiskey ages in new charred oak barrels for no less than 15 years. Straight out of the barrel, uncut and unfiltered, the taste is powerful, flavorful and intense. Open it up with a few drops of water, sit back and ponder the wonders of the universe. This bourbon was distilled in the spring of 2007 and aged in Warehouse K for 15 years and 5 months prior to bottling.

Nose: The nose invites you in with caramel-stuffed chocolates, vanilla extract and sour cherries.

Palate: The palate is rich and luscious, a slow-moving, sticky river of caramel, leading to peanut shells and coffee grounds.

Wine Enthusiast Superb/Highly Recommended | The bouquet has a dry, grainy aroma which is accented by peppery/spicy scents. The palate entry is surprisingly sweet and corny, considering how dry the aroma is; the midpalate point is deep, corny sweet, sap-like and a bit syrupy. Ends up well and balanced, with a backnote of dried red fruit (raisins, prunes).
