Castel Blanc du Castel — Judean Hills, Israel 2023

Domaine du Castel is the founding estate of modern Israeli fine wine. In 1988, Eli Ben Zaken planted the first contemporary vineyard in the Judean Hills in the backyard of his home in Ramat Raziel — almost by chance, and almost entirely by conviction. Within four years, family and friends gathered to harvest the grapes that would become Castel Grand Vin 1992, and a benchmark was set. Today, Eli’s children carry the tradition forward: Ariel (CEO, trained in Beaune), Eytan (winemaker alongside Eli), and Ilana (Director of Export & Procurement).
