Neal Martin writes | The 2023 Chablis Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire comes from 50-60 year old vines. Clearly a level up from the regular cuvée. This displays more mineralité and nuance on the nose with hints of white truffle. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, quite tensile with pleasing weight. Louis Latour Ardèche has a pale yellow color. Its nose, intense of candied lemon, develops itself on notes of citrus marmalade, acacia and thyme. The mouthfeel, very fresh, offers a nice tension where aromas of candied lemon and white flowers are revealed.

It is a long wine which finishes in roundness and light salinity.

Citrus peel, mint, white flowers and tangerine peel all grace this exquisite, intense wine. The 2021 was fermented in tank and aged in barrel, of which 50% new. The Katherine's Vineyard comes from own-rooted vines planted in the 1970s. Readers should plan on giving this a bit of time, as it is quite nervous today. - Vinous 95

With its brightness and lively citrus elements, the 2022 Jordan Chardonnay makes a wonderful aperitif and is also a versatile food pairing wine. Unlike many fuller-bodied chardonnays, Jordan Chardonnay creates a nice contrast of flavors with seafood such as salmon or oysters. It also has the structure and balance to pair beautifully with spicy Thai dishes and even heavier dishes like creamy chicken pasta or Dungeness crab.

Bart Hopkins of 67Wine.com | Slightly richer and fleshier than village Chablis, more reminiscent of a premier cru, with an impressive balance of honeyed apple, stone and tropical fruits with underlying mineral notes that builds into a crescendo of harmonious complexity. Decanter Magazine 93 Points  "A very classy combination of the extra richness found in 2022, with zesty lime acidity and a distinctive, salty edge to finish. The 2022 California Unoaked Chardonnay has aromas of pear, sweet-tart apple and mango with notes of citrus and honeysuckle. On the palate, the wine opens with bright fruit flavors, followed by crisp minerality on the mid-palate and a long, clean balanced finish. Winemaker Description. 

To impart highlights of vanilla, caramel and nutmeg, Ron barrel fermented and aged 70 percent of the Chardonnay in French and American oak barrels (20 percent new) for eight months. Fermenting the remainder in stainless steel maintained a bright, fresh fruit balance. The resulting wine has ripe pear and pineapple, and mango flavors highlighted by citrus, Granny Smith apple and hints of baking spices.

Clean, modern and juicy on the palate, this will appeal to both Chablis lovers and those who like a slightly richer style of Chardonnay. (2021).

Alder Yarrow of Jancis Robinson 17.5/20 Points |  Pale gold. Smells of slightly resinous lemon peel and lemon curd. Bright lemon-peel and lemon-curd flavours mix with pink grapefruit and toasted bread. Wonderfully saline notes linger with lemon peel in the finish. Crystalline and gorgeous. 

Anna Lee C. Iijima of Decanter 95 Points |  Tasted at the beginning of 2023, a reductive quality was still obscuring bright, penetrating green apple and kiwi flavours with a smoky, earthen veil. Still, it's a gorgeously sleek, richly textured wine with a pulsating core of acidity and salty mineral intensity.

Citrus confit, white flowers, almond, chamomile and dried herbs all run through this super-expressive Chardonnay. Tasting Panel 93 Points | Lots sourced from four vineyards (including Schug's estate property) were fermented separately and aged sur lie in small French oak bar rels. Bolstered by toasty cedar and keen acidity, this dynamic, creamy, and balanced white pres ents notes of orange peel, vanilla wafer, and white flowers.

Wine Enthusiast 90 Points | Delicious pear and apple flavors are lightly accented by vanilla in this generous, well-balanced wine that was aged on the lees for eight months. A full body, smooth texture and well-concentrated fruit flavors make it a pleasure to sip.

James Suckling 90 Points | Aromas of sliced apples and white peaches with raw almond and nougat undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with toned acidity and quite a ripe fruit character with savory notes. More rich and mellow style with a flavorful finish.

This classic Carneros Chardonnay was grown primarily on the Schug Estate vineyard, with additional barrels from the Wildcat Vineyard and Thornton Ranch. It was fermented and aged on the lees ("sur-lie") in small French Oak barrels, with judicious new oak introduced. Malolactic fermentation was not induced, allowing the wine to retain its natural acidity and varietal focus. The result is a wine that is both rich and powerful, while refreshing and elegant on the finish. It has a ripe, spicy tropical bouquet with flavors that suggest citrus, pear, and spiced apples. Well-balanced acidity gives it a crisp, clean finish, making it an excellent wine with food. Try it with cream soups, rich seafood, fowl, veal, and pasta dishes. Winemaker Description.

Billy Norris writes:  The 2022 Chardonnay Central Coast comes from a blend of Edna Valley, San Benito and Monterey sites. It’s a rich, forward white with lots of richness but also a bracing structure. Toasted hazelnut, apricot, lemon zest, petrol and slate build in the glass, pressing onward through the voluptuous, mouth-coating finish. It trails away quickly with a kiss of heat, but this is a solidly enjoyable appellation-level offering in a tough year.  Drinking 2024 to 2029.  - Vinous 90
