Expert Reviews
Wine Enthusiast 95 Points | Vibrant and generous aromatics lead to a flavorful palate and lingering finish. This wine offers a tantalizing combination of flinty aromas, pithy citrus flavors and an energizing, palate-refreshing presence. (2021).
James Suckling 91 Points | Aromas of wet stone, sliced peach and fresh flowers. Medium- to full-bodied with citrus acidity and fresh stone fruit. A little phenolic tension here, too, with refreshing tannins at the finish.
W.O. Elgin Great Heart Pinot Noir 2022
Winemaker Description
This Pinot bursts with fresh cranberry, strawberry and star anise spice on the nose. It is sumptuous on the mid-palate, offset by a balanced acidity and beautifully friable tannins, typical of Pinot from Elgin with its moderate day temperatures and cooler nights.
It will pair well with a wild mushroom risotto.
Sourced from Elgin, and is the first release of a Great Heart Pinot Noir. • The parcel is located at 420 meters above sea level, South-facing. • Decomposed Table Mountain Sandstone soil. • Hand harvested. • Crushed to tank whole-bunch with a cold soak for 3 days. • Fermented with indigenous yeasts with temperatures below 28ºC. • After two weeks, the wine was pressed to older French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation. • Aged for 6 months in 500L French oak.
Cantina Frentana Rubesto Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva 2020 750ml
Buyer's Description
"A good Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is arguably one of the most dependable wines to serve with mid-week meals. One such Montepulciano is the Frentana Rubesto Riseva 2020. Brightly flavored, elegant and well balanced, with mouth filling cherry fruit, spicy complexity and lifted acidity that complements food so perfectly. Pizza and pasta are always what come to mind, but this is a wine that can also partner well with roasted chicken, salmon, tuna and vegetarian menus. Turn your mid-week mediocre meals into something more special. A good bottle of wine can make the difference!"" Bart Hopkins
Winemaker Description
Very intense ruby red color, with aging it appears garnet; highlights smell remarkably complex, with aromas of black cherry, violet, vanilla and spicy notes. It goes perfectly with meat dishes of the Abruzzo’s cuisine, particularly the lamb, but also roast or braised veal and mature cheese.
