Producer Description 

Created by Pierre Frapin 100 years ago, Fontpinot cognac has always been a delight to demanding epicureans. As opposed to a ubiquitous passion for planning, roots of the pleasure of tasting continue to work serenely and unstoppably at Frapin. To celebrate the centenary, Cognac Frapin is publishing a limited-edition anniversary packaging. Inspired by the original version, the label brings up to date the symbols of ownership and the colors popular during the Roaring twenties. The bottle is presented in a rough wooden box inspired by the straw-lined crates used at the time.

A real treasure of Cognac Frapin, Fontpinot XO can lay claim to the Chateau appellation because it is made exclusively from grapes harvested, distilled, aged, and bottled at the Chateau Fontpinot. Distillation over lees and a long aging in dry cellars provide its distinct character.

With an average age of over 20 years, this expression has a nose of candied fruit, marzipan, and rancio. The long aging brings toffee, almond butter, and spice to the palate before a long, elegant finish.

Golden color with yellow tints. A beautiful nose with candied fruit (dates, prune), dried fruit (apricot, fig) and spices (vanilla, butterscotch). On the palate, the tannins are silky. The aromas of citrus (orange peel, tangerine) dominate. Beautiful length.

Guy Deyres worked in the Bas Armagnac region for almost 40 years before passing on his passion for and the secrets of his craft to his son Jean-Luc, the current owner of Domaine de Rieston. Domaine Au Martin, with its sandy soils and baco grapes, is located in the ‘magical’ Grand Bas Armagnac sector and we consider ourselves lucky to exclusively present its armagnacs. Tesseron Lot 76 Tradition XO Cognac is an exceptional blend of reserve stocks of Grande Champagne Cognac, matured to perfection in old casks. Very clear and bright in the glass with alluring aromas that present a sensation of fruit compote layered with hints of honey and leather, all lifted by floral tones – very elegant. On the palate it is generous on attack, and presents a wonderful, spicy vitality, complementing a harmonious, rounded style.

It is made with our unique “Sinatra Barrels” that have deep grooves, specially carved into their staves to expose the whiskey to extra layers of toasted oak, balanced with our finest Tennessee Whiskey. This added exposure imparts a rich amber color, bold character, and pleasant smokiness, punctuated by an incredibly smooth vanilla finish. Much like Frank, this Whiskey is one of a kind.

Diplomatico single vintage rum is crafted from a selection of exceptional rum reserves, which have been aged in bourbon and single malt whisky casks. Slightly spiced with vanilla and caramel notes. Flavors of nutmeg, tobacco and dried apricots. Soft with a complex long finish.

Created in partnership with Nick Offerman, Lagavulin Offerman Edition 11 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a woody and peaty, fruity and spicy offering. The woody, peaty notes lead from the front, gently tingling the tongue in a cha-cha before fading to reveal a veritable waltz of sweet berry and orchard fruit notes. Aged in a mix of refilled and rejuvenated American Oak barrels, this whisky demands to be served in a traditional whisky glass, neat or with a little water.

Carrying on a 200-year-old tradition of distilling excellence, the Lagavulin distillery is said to be one of the oldest distilleries on Islay. Founded in 1816 by farmer John Johnston and later led by Peter Mackie in 1890, the name Lagavulin was to become the last word on the delicacy of Islay malts. Miles and miles of peat bog in the west of the island provide the raw material which imbues the barley with their iconic smoky flavor, and the rich peaty water from the tranquil Lochan Sholum in the hills above the distillery makes the flavors so unique. It takes time, but patience is their finest virtue and rushing good whisky is just not how they take care of things in Islay.

Second Maturation in port barrels

Our malt mill, glistening copper mash tun and traditional wooden washbacks form part of a vigorous but carefully attended process. Our elegant copper pot stills distil and re-distil the richest spirit which is then filled into the finest casks and left patiently maturing in our warehouses. Nearly 70% of the flavour in whisky is derived from the cask it has been matured in. Wood’s important, which is why we adopt a ‘no compromise’ approach when choosing our world renowned sherry casks to enrich our whisky. Over the years of extended maturation, these carefully seasoned casks help create the unique richly sherried style that The GlenDronach is famous for.

Made in homage to one of bourbon's original aristocrats, W.L. Weller 12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon continues to be crafted using Weller's wheated bourbon recipe. Aged for a minimum of 12 years, far longer than most wheated bourbons. This whiskey features aromas of creamy vanilla, caramel and molasses that gives way to notes of candied corn, ripe fruits, cocoa powder and dried fruits on the palate. With a finish, which is elegant and soft, has hints of mint, fruit and vanilla this wheated bourbon is not to be overlooked. W.L. Weller 12 Year Old Bourbon earned the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2019.

TASTING NOTES:

Amber-colored, this grappa is very smooth at the taste, but never mawkish. In its aromatic profile the ranges of fruit and spices are predominant and that's right in the grappa with a long aging and a high quality standard.

In the range of fruity tastes we can catch the one of the dry fruit, so rare to find; together with the candied fruit, the raisins and the prune we can feel the fruit in syrup, the jam and the citrus. In the range of spices the flavor of the barrel is dominating, together with pepper, licorice, tobacco and clove.

The 12-year aging process transforms the raw, high-toned character of young grappa into a complex, mellow, and brandy-like spirit:

• Palate: Velvety smooth and oily, with a profound depth of flavor. The initial heat of the alcohol is perfectly integrated with rich flavors of caramel, honey, baked pear, and apricot jam.
