The Michter's team conducted years of research on different barrel finishes for their rye whiskey, and have proudly produced the Michter's US-1 Limited Release Toasted Barrel Finish Rye Whiskey.
To produce this Toasted Barrel Strength Rye Whiskey, they took their US-1 Kentucky Straight Rye at barrel strength and aged it longer in a second custom barrel. The second barrel is assembled from 24 month air dried wood, and toasted to Michter's specification.
The deep reddish brown color leads to scents of spicy rye and cooking brown sugar. The initial flavors of rye and dark brown sugar gives way to the subtle hints of oak and dark baking spices. There is a silky finish that ends with more rye and orange peels. Producer Notes.
