Within the Scielo line RGMX has a set of monvarietal wines that they age for 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, and the “R.3” is the 100% Syrah. This wine along with its cohorts in the reserva line are excellent windows into the expression of each grape variety that plays a partial role in their other blends. This Syrah is all spice, blueberry skin and plum on the nose with the elements coming from the barrels already well integrated into the overall composition. In the mouth it displays bright acidity in the mouth and notes of green peppercorn, Italian plum, clove and with mid weight - not something that’s easy to achieve with this grape variety. It’s drinking like a song right now, but it will evolve for a decade or more in the bottle.

Once fortresses built by ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean, Naracu (or Nuraghe) can still be found across the island of Sardegna. Cannonau, the island’s primary red grape, creates wines with red berry fruit and herbaceous, savory notes.

Cannonau and Nuraghe are still found all over the island in different versions. The Surrau Naracu Cannonau is an open and fresh wine with more typical Mediterranean fruit and mineral expressions of the granitic soil of Gallura.

Organically farmed pinot noir grapes from our home ranch, Redwood Valley Vineyards, were hand-harvested in mid September. The bunches were carefully destemmed into a stainless steel tank for fermentation. The mixture of skins, seed , and juice were cold soaked for 24-48 hours to begin flavor extraction. After a CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) approved yeast was added, the must was mixed two times per day to continue extracting color and tannin. 

These pump-overs are critical to enhancing the aroma and flavor from the pinot noir grape. Once fermentation is complete, the must was delicately pressed and aged on French oak for 8 months.

This medium garnet-colored wine presents enticing aromas of dried cranberry, sweet rhubarb, and subtle hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate, flavors of delicate caramel, bright red cherries, and a touch of licorice meld seamlessly with soft tannins and a smooth texture, achieving a harmonious balance of fruit and oak.

Deep ruby in color with pronounced aromas of black cherry, marionberries and plum with subtle aromas of cigar box, grains of paradise and dark chocolate. Robust body with lush texture and a depth of flavors led by black cherry and blackberries with intertwined notes of vanilla bean, leather, dark chocolate and baking spice. Firm tannins carry throughout the wine with supported acidity bringing great length to the mouthfeel. Pair with richer dishes like roasted leg of lamb over roasted vegetables or walnut-lentil Bolognese. Ideal drinking is 3 -15 years.

This is a deep ruby-colored wine that combines aromas of violet flowers, raspberries and spices. It shows an impressive structure and also a good concentration of fruit on the palate. This is an age worthy Beaujolais that could be put aside for a few years PRODUCTION NOTES-Length of alcoholic fermentation is 20 days. Maceration technique involves Semi Carbonic. Aged in 228 L French Oak Barrels for 9 months.

Attractive ruby hue of medium depth. A nose of fresh scrubland with a hint of jujube, while its finesse and elegance are clear as soon it touches the palate.

Burgundy-style vinification:
- 80% of the grapes have been destemmed, before being placed in a concrete vat by gravity.
- The maceration lasted 18 days with cap-punching, over-pumping and racking before the pressing.
- A plot selection has been realized, and each cuvee is vinified separately.
- 20% of the wine is aged in 228-litre oak Burgundy barrels of French origin, mainly from the Troncais forest undergo a medium « firing », to give a light toasted style, with sweetness and roundness. The wine is aged on fine lees.

 Tasting Notes

Deep red-ruby. The nose is dominated by black cherry, peony, chocolate and spices. A great pure minerality in the mouth with dense and velvety tannins. Very elegant with a long aromatic persistency.
Food Pairing

Morgon Côte du Py pairs well with duck and feathered game dishes. It would also match with ripened cheeses full of character. Let be amazed by decanting this astonishing wine!

Though a relatively new domaine, founded in 1979, Faury is rooted in traditions generations old. Under Philippe Faury's guidance, the winery has expanded to its current 17ha of vineyards, nearly all so steep that they must be terraced. Both Philippe and his son Lionel carry out backbreaking work to ensure the vineyards are perfectly cared for. 

The Faurys eschew new oak in large quantity, and fermentation is carried out only by foot pigeage.

Black fruits, olives, and violets leap from the glass with this wine. On the palate this is filled with dark, rich blue and blackberry fruit with elements of black olive, dried herbs, and tapenade.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Tempranillo aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and acidity. Bright red fruits on the nose and an angular, lively, light to medium body on the palate. A perfect wine for those who like zippy accessible reds whose function seems to be to constantly keep the tongue stimulated.

Jeb Dunnuck 94 Points | The 2022 Gigondas Racines (75% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Cinsault) was mostly destemmed and spent 14 months in foudre. Coming from slightly lower elevation parcels (just beside the estate) and older vines, it's slightly deeper ruby-hued and has a meaty bouquet of black cherries, melted licorice, tapenade, and peppery garrigue. This carries to a more structured, medium to full-bodied, concentrated Gigondas that's going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age.

The Wine Spectator 93 Points | An elegant red, boasting cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral aromas and flavors. Firm, with a dry edge to its tannins as this builds to the long finish. Overall, there's fine balance, and the lasting impression is of ripe fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2030.

Our Zinfandel has a deep color and rich, spicy aromas of wild dark berries and plums, It is round, rich and bursting with flavor. The Petit Syrah and Tannat grapes add a delightful complexity to the final blend.

Our Ryder Estate Merlot is savory, ripe and velvety. Black fruit and blueberry
aromas lead into flavors of ripe plum and raspberry with vanilla notes.

James Suckling 96 Points | A round and juicy red with berry, cherry, mushroom and wet-earth character on both the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied with integrated tannins that are soft and luscious. Long, flavorful finish. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years.

Intense and dark cherry-red color, with a high robe and ruby red edges. Clean and bright. Highly intense aromas with abundant notes of fruit. Its notes of red and black fruit (prunes, figs, cherries, redcurrant and raspberries) are released along with flower notes and mixed with nice spicy and light toasted nuances.

High load of fruit aromas dominate the palate. It is a lively and crisp, medium-bodied red wine. It shows a light astringency provided by its marked tannins and a good acidity that provides it with deepness. Long and persistent finish.

The story of Gran Passione is not merely about wine; it is a narrative woven through time, with roots that trace back to the Roman era. The crown jewel of their offerings, the Gran Passione Rosso, is crafted in the revered tradition of “Appassimento.” This technique, akin to the esteemed Amarone wines, involves the meticulous drying and shriveling of grapes before they are crushed, allowing their flavors to concentrate and intensify.

Beautiful ruby red in color, with distinctive aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, blackcurrant but also leather and sweet violet. Full-bodied in the mouth but never tiring, silky tannin and lingering taste reminiscent of licorice and coffee.

The Wine Enthusiast 93 Points | This concentrated Merlot-Zinfandel-Petite Sirah blend brings waves of cherry gastrique, raspberry liqueur, violets and caramel on the nose, while the palate leans into ripe blueberries, dark chocolate and raspberry coulis with expansive texture and velvety tannins.

Nanfrè is Tenuta Sant'Antonio's young Valpolicella wine. It incorporates no dried grapes and uses no oak. The winery's recent decision to stop producing the Nanfrè as s Valpolicella Superiore allows them to maintain lower alcohol levels, more vibrant fruit and lively freshness. Nanfrè is the name of a hamlet in the commune of Illasi, the name of a vineyard and also the nickname of the previous owner of that vineyard (short for Gianfranco).

The 2023 Grayson Pinot Noir exhibits a rich color. The aromas are exotic in raspberry and plum with a mix of cherry, violets, and a hint of sandalwood. Flavorful and silky in the mouth with good body, this wine has good texture and a lingering finish with a hint of toasted

The Gelin family invested in a larger, more efficient winery, which was upgraded and ready for the 2011 harvest. “The new winery allows us more flexibility during harvest, as well as the technology to increase wine quality,” says Pierre-Emmanuel. The wines of Domaine Pierre Gelin have always been de-stemmed with a long cuvaison of 8-10 days and a judicious use of oak. Only indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation which takes place in stainless-steel and oak tanks. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrel and the wines are aged for 20-24 months in varying percentages of new oak: up to 80% new oak for the Grand Cru, and 25% new for the premier crus. They use older barrels for village wines.

Tinto Rey means Red King. Tempranillo is the king of Spanish red wines, the most important varietal in our Matchbook Vineyard and the foundation of this unique Tempranillo/Syrah blend. 

The aromas of our 2022 Tinto Rey are pure Spain in a glass: dark chocolate and earth and dusty cellar. The flavors are dense and complex with cedar and mocha layered over dried blueberry, poached fig and baking spices. A hint of eucalyptus hangs in the background. The finish is smooth with a balanced grip of tannins; silk with a backbone. This full-bodied red wine will pair well with the best cuts of meat.
