67 Wine Petit Somm Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 750ml
67Wine Store Review
Surprise, surprise! This is as tasty as any Cabernet you can buy for $15, that’s for sure! We had it with roast chicken, smashed potatoes, buttered string beans and it just worked. This is a medium-bodied Cab; its dark plum and cherry fruit flavors are upfront, mouth-filling, and leave a mouth-cleansing fruit aftertaste. Another of our buyer Oscar’s really great deals.
— Dorothy & Bernie, Follow the Drinker®

Miguel Torres Reserva Especial Cordillera Carmenere La Ladera 2021 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2021
Jesica Vargas of the Wine Enthusiast writes 90 Points | Carménère loves Peumo, a subregion in Cachapoal Valley. Here the grape can fully ripen and make wines that have a balanced bouquet and palate. This red has light notes of berries on the nose. Finely grained tannins and good acidity hold cherry flavors mixed with dried basil.
Winemaker Description
Great color intensity. On the nose it expresses with splendid force the character of the Carménère variety, (berries, eucalyptus and leather), with notes of roasting -laurel and clove-, liquorice and pepper black. Great amplitude in the mouth and round tannins. Retronasal aromas of toasted bread and spices, ending in a long aftertaste.
This great wine is the ideal companion for roast lamb or pig as well as meats cooked over coals and spiced with aromatic herbs and licorice.
Clos des Fous Grillos Cantores Cabernet Sauvignon Alto Cachapoal 2021 750ml
Explore the Enclosure of the Madmen Cabernet Sauvignon
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2021
Vinous 90 Points | The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Grillos Cantores hails from Requínoa in the Cachapoal Andes region. After spending a year in concrete vats, this bright purple wine unfolds currant and sweet briar notes along with a faintly balsamic layer, all wrapped in a reductive manner. Dry, polished and light, this easygoing red offers fine-grained tannins with a lasting fruity/herbal finish. This is an unexpectedly light Cabernet from the Cachapoal area.
Memo Summary Notes
Clos des Fous was founded in 2008 by Pedro Parra, Francois Massoc, Paco Leyton and Albert Cussen. The four friends were tired of hearing that Chilean wine was all boring, industrial, green and overripe so they set out in search of the Dark Side of the Moon. Francois and Pedro are longtime friends, akin to brothers, and both have spent much time abroad making wine and working vineyards in Europe. Pedro has a Masters degree in precision agriculture and a Ph.D. for his work with terroir, and currently consults as a terroir specialist around the globe in Argentina, Oregon, Italy, France, Spain, Georgia, Croatia and beyond working with world renowned vignerons like Jean Marc Roulot.
The Clos des Fous philosophy is to produce exciting wines from grapes grown in extreme terroir with minimal intervention in the winery. They own and manage vineyards in Malleco, Guarilihue, Alto Cahapoal and Western Aconcagua, which allows them to produce a variety of wines and work with multiple iterations of Pinot Noir, Cinsault, País, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Riesling at their winery in Cauquenes, Maule. This is one of Chile’s most innovative, inspiring and authentic wineries, producing some of the most exciting wines in South America.
Memo Summary Notes
Clos des Fous (which translates to "crazy men") was founded by four friends, including the world-renowned terroir expert Pedro Parra. They are called "crazy" because they chose to make wine in extreme, difficult-to-farm locations that others avoided.-
Grilled Lamb with Rosemary: The herbal notes in the wine mirror the seasoning on the meat.
-
Steak with Chimichurri: The acidity in the wine stands up to the vinegar and herbs in the sauce.
-
Aged Cheddar: The tannins help break down the fats in hard, salty cheeses.
Rich Flavor Profile
The Clos des Fous Grillos Cantores Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, also known as the Enclosure of the Madmen, offers an exceptional tasting experience. This lush wine features bold flavors of dark fruits like blackberry and plum, complemented by hints of vanilla and spice. It is full-bodied but surprisingly smooth, making it an excellent choice for both connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike.
Perfect Pairings
What sets this Cabernet Sauvignon apart is how well it pairs with a variety of dishes. Grilled meats, hearty pasta, and rich cheeses are delightful companions to this wine. However, it shines even on its own, inviting you to savor its complex layers of taste. Therefore, whether you’re hosting a dinner or enjoying a quiet night in, this wine enhances the experience.
Craftsmanship Behind the Wine
The Enclosure of the Madmen represents a unique collaboration among winemakers devoted to quality and distinctiveness. This wine is meticulously crafted, reflecting the terroir of the Alto Cachapoal valley in Chile. Because of the attention to detail, the result is not just a drink but a story told in a bottle. You’ll appreciate each sip more as you discover the craftsmanship that went into it.

The Wine Spectator 90 Points | Opens with a toasty vanilla bean and spiced pastry note that clings to the rich wild berry and plum core, which is kept honest by a streak of mineral acidity. Comes together nicely in the end, with a lingering note of chocolate. This is a touch flamboyant, but will have its fans. Drink now through 2028.

Roberto Henriquez Pais Franco Secano Interior Bio-Bio 2022 750ml
Winemaker Description
These ancient, own-rooted País vines are 800 meters from the Bío Bío river in a dry river bed that used to hold the river. The soil is especially unique with an alluvial top-layer over black, sandy (basaltic) soils.
This is “País Franco”—as in piè franco—meaning the vine is ungrafted like most of Henriquez’s vines, but the name also draws attention to how this cuvée is one of the most honest, pure and frank versions of the variety available.
Memo Summary Notes
The Roberto Henríquez "País Franco" 2022 is a remarkable "natural" wine from the Bío-Bío Valley in Chile. Roberto Henríquez is a key figure in the Chilean wine revolution, focusing on reviving ancient, neglected vineyards and traditional winemaking techniques.
The name "Franco" refers to piè franco (French foot), meaning the vines are ungrafted. These vines are truly ancient—many are over 200 years old—and grow in the volcanic, black-sand soils of an old riverbed.
Pair with
Charcuterie boards, pâté, or a high-quality roast chicken.
-
Traditional: Chilean empanadas or pastel de choclo.
-
Vegetarian: Grilled vegetables or dishes with lentils and earthy spices.

Trotamundos Pinot Noir Single Vineyard DO Leyda Valley 2023 750ml
Discover the Globetrotter's Choice: Trotamundos Pinot Noir
Our Professional Review
The Trotamundos wines are the brainchild of two winemaker friends, César Baeza and Miguel Besoain. The term “Trotamundos” translates to “globetrotter,” and their winemaking philosophy centers on creating wines with a global perspective, incorporating what they have learned while traveling throughout the wine world to craft unique expressions.
I recently tasted the Trotamundos Pinot Noir Single Vineyard Leyda Valley 2023 and was extremely pleased with its quality and value. This is a Pinot Noir that delivers exceptional drinkability without compromising quality. Sourced from the cool climate of Chile’s Leyda Valley, it showcases bright aromas and flavors of wild red berries—raspberries and strawberries—with a subtle hint of blue fruit as well.
On the palate, the wine is well structured, with vibrant red berry fruit, well-integrated acidity, and mild tannins that lead to effortless drinkability. A stony minerality adds depth and naturally complements the fruit profile. The finish is clean and refreshing, with bright, palate-cleansing acidity.
This wine is very food-friendly. I suggest pairing it with Latin-inspired dishes, grilled skirt steak, or crab-stuffed cannelloni.
Oscar Garcia Moncada
Winemaker Description
Light-red color with a slight orange tint. Raspberries and cream on the nose, smooth in the mouth with a burst of juicy mixed berries, blood orange, and a tangy aftertaste.
Memo Summary Notes
The Trotamundos Pinot Noir Single Vineyard 2023 is a cool-climate red from Chile’s Leyda Valley, a region highly regarded for producing elegant, coastal-influenced wines. This particular label is a collaboration between winemakers César Baeza and Miguel Besoaín.
The Leyda Valley is situated just 12km from the Pacific Ocean. The 2023 season benefited from the Humboldt Current, which provides cool sea breezes and morning mists. This ensures a slow ripening process, allowing the Pinot Noir grapes to maintain high natural acidity and develop complex aromatic profiles
This wine’s balance of fruit and earthiness makes it quite versatile:
-
Poultry: Roasted chicken with herbs de Provence or duck breast.
-
Vegetarian: Mushroom risotto or earthy lentil stews.
-
Seafood: Grilled salmon or seared tuna, thanks to its bright acidity.
An Exquisite Pinot Noir Experience

Ventisquero Grey Glacier Single Block Sauvignon Blanc Longomilla Vineyard Atacama Chile 2023 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2023
The Wine Enthusiast by Jesica Vargas writes 90 Points | Delicate sweet notes of nectarine introduce this lively wine. The palate offers white fruit flavors, balanced by moderate acidity, leading to a crisp finish.
Winemaker Description
An attractive greenish-yellow colour. Its ageing in foudres has lent it citrus and green chilli pepper aromas, as well as saline notes. In the mouth, it is very structured and tense thanks to its high acidity and minerality. The finish is clean and persistent, with a subtle saline note coming through. This highly complex Sauvignon Blanc tempts you to enjoy it with food.
Block 22 is located on the first terrace of the river Huasco. It has very old, stony soils from the river which have very special qualities: a little clay and a lot of calcareous soil – lime, calcium carbonate – white soils. Characterized by low yields of grapes with very concentrated fresh fruit. In the Atacama Desert in the Huasco valley, the temperatures were fresh, especially at night. Temperatures are kept low because of the constant cool morning breezes blowing in from the Pacific Ocean, as well as the classic “Camanchaca”, a dense fog which comes in from the ocean, helping to regulate the temperatures and ensure an optimum level of humidity in the atmosphere.
Memo Summary Notes
The Ventisquero Grey Glacier Sauvignon Blanc 2023 from the Longomilla Vineyard is a highly distinctive wine that pushes the boundaries of Chilean viticulture. Grown in the Atacama Desert—the driest place on Earth—this wine is defined by "extreme" conditions, resulting in a profile that is far more saline and mineral than your typical New Zealand or Casablanca Sauvignon Blanc.
Pair with
The Perfect Match: Fresh oysters, sea urchins, or ceviche. The salinity in the wine acts like a squeeze of lime on fresh seafood.
The Perfect Match: Fresh oysters, sea urchins, or ceviche. The salinity in the wine acts like a squeeze of lime on fresh seafood.
Roberto Henriquez Rivera del Notro Tinto Pais 2024 750ml
Winemaker Description
The Rivera Del Notro is Roberto Henriquez’s most fruit-forward País. 200-year-old vines on the southern edge of the Bio Bío River enjoy warmer temperatures, yielding juicy red berry flavors and firm tannins. This is his most fruit-driven Pais. Vineyards are planted in alluvial soils in the south edge of the river Bio Bio, under warmer temperatures. Juicy red berries, firm tannins.
Memo Summary Notes
An extraordinary "natural" wine that represents the fruit-driven side of the ancient País grape. While Roberto’s País Franco (which we discussed earlier) is often more ethereal and mineral, the Rivera del Notro is widely considered his most approachable and "juicy" expression, often described as his ideal wine for an Asado (Chilean BBQ).
The "Asado" Pairing: Designed specifically for grilled meats, especially lamb or fatty pork sausages (longaniza).
Casual: Ideal with charcuterie, earthy lentil dishes, or even a spicy tomato-based pasta.
Cheese: Goat cheese or a semi-firm sheep’s milk cheese.
J Bouchon Pais Viejo Dry Farmed Old Vines Maule Valley 2023 750ml
Expert Reviews - Vintage 2023
Decanter 90 Points | Attractive and perfumed, with wild herb and spiced berry aromatics, vibrant palate of sour cherry, spice and a neat acidity.
The Wine Enthusiast by Jesica Vargas writes 89 Points | The grapes are sourced from old vines in the Maule Valley. This País preserves its varietal typicity, offering intense strawberry aromas. The earthy palate is shaped by tart berries and hints of linden tea, alongside just enough acidity to make it a good match for Spanish tapas or Margherita pizza.
Memo Summary Notes
The J. Bouchon "País Viejo" 2023 is a celebrated "rescue wine" from Chile’s Maule Valley. While the Rivera del Notro you looked at earlier is a raw, small-production natural wine, this "Viejo" (Old) bottling is arguably the wine that brought the País grape back into the global spotlight.
It is produced from 100-year-old bush vines that are dry-farmed (no irrigation), forcing the roots deep into granitic soils to find water and nutrients.
Pair with
The "Bouchon Pick": They specifically recommend this with fatty fish (like salmon or tuna) or simple pasta dishes.
Rustic: Charcuterie, pork sausages (longaniza), or a classic margherita pizza.
Roberto Henriquez Super Estrella Corinto (Chasselas) White 2024 750ml
Winemaker Description
Roberto Henríquez spent several years working in South Africa, Canada and France before going on to study agronomy and enology. In 2015 he moved back home to Biobío and began his own project based on the grape Pais, in part motivated by Louis Antoine Luyt.
Quickly he got a lot of recognition due to his most important work in principle of recovering the traditional viticultre in the South of Chile, by obtaining a delicate rusticity in all his wines. Torontel is a grape that evolved from a natural cross of Moscatel de Alejandria and Pais.
A white wine rich in spices and floral tones. This is an intense wine with tremendous body and acidity, with especially with firm, sharp tannins.
Roberto Henriquez Super Estrella Rosado 2024 750ml
Memo Summary Notes
The Roberto Henriquez Super Estrella Rosado 2024 is a vibrant, natural rosé from the Bio-Bío and Itata regions of southern Chile. Roberto Henriquez is a central figure in Chile’s "New Chile" wine movement, focusing on traditional, low-intervention methods and revitalizing ancient, ungrafted vines.
Roberto Henriquez is a "minimalist" winemaker. This wine is fermented using native yeasts, often in old oak barrels or stainless steel, and is bottled with minimal or no added sulfur. It is neither fined nor filtered, so don't be surprised if the wine appears slightly cloudy or has a small amount of sediment.
Food Pairings
• Seafood: Sea urchin, ceviche, or grilled oily fish like mackerel.
• Spiced Dishes: Excellent with mildly spicy Thai or Vietnamese cuisine.
• Charcuterie: Salty ham, olives, and young goat cheese.

The bouquet consists of ripe aromas of cassis and black cherry, a mild touch of oak and a slight hint of earth. Medium in body with fantastic acidity, it is very juicy, with a medium-long finish.

James Suckling 92 Points | An elegant wine that’s dry and fruity, with a lovely creamy texture and suppleness on the palate. Fresh and poised, with a medium-long finish. A very good rosé made from 46% cinsault, 37% grenache, 13% syrah and 4% mourvedre.

Tim Atkin 97 Points | Picked early because of the pandemic, but not showing any less concentration as a result, this is one of Chile’s finest Bordeaux blends, made with an 80/20 blend of old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the Macul estate in Satiago. Concentrated yet not overbearing, it has damson, cassis and potpourri flavours and a frame of toast and vanilla spicy oak. Built to last.
