Dark ruby in the glass, this wine has a nose of black cherry, cranberry and aniseed. It is very soft on impact, with flavors of raspberry, cassis, milk chocolate and licorice. Satiny tannins hold off on the palate at first, make their presence known and then slip away in time for a bright finish.

The Australian Wine Companion 91 Points | Yalumba continues to grace us with a range of wines made from viognier, from entry-level to aspirational, that convey a deep understanding of both the variety and site. Pale straw with green flashes and aromas of lemon, grapefruit and apricot along with hints of lemon sorbet, wildflowers, a liminal whiff of white pepper and stone. Flecks of dried herbs join in on the palate, which is stony and savoury, lingering nicely as it fades away. A great introduction to the variety.

Organic Winemaking: This wine is certified by the Australian Certified Organic standards and is 100% vegan. It's made without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the vineyard. With very few additions, the wine goes through wild fermentation, using only the natural yeasts present in the vineyard and on grape skins.

Tasting Notes: Crimson in color with violet hues. Spiced plums and peppercorns with fruit cake and forest floor aromas. The palate is a mix of violets and spice with hints of Dutch licorice, lingering plum and cherry flavors. This is a fruit driven, medium-bodied wine with soft, silky tannins and a persistent savory finish. 

Enjoy With: Mexican lasagna, bruschetta pasta or a Swiss brown mushroom burger with caramelized onions and crispy potato chips.

Australian Wine Companion 97 Points | The Virgilius continues to be the benchmark for viognier in Australia, no doubt prompting a few nervous glances from the French in the process. Pale straw in the glass with notes of apricot, lemon, grapefruit and crisp nashi pear with hints of soft spice, almond paste, marzipan, white flowers and crushed quartz. In the mouth, it weaves its textural magic leaving a slinky wake across the palate, finishing dry and stony with ample acid drive and precision and a lovely 'sucking on a river pebble' sense of savoury composure and elegance.

The Wine Spectator 94 Points | The 2020 The Virgilius Viognier hails from a hot, dry, low-yielding season, yet the elevation of Eden Valley often protects it from the worst of the heat. It leads with aromas of nougat, white peach, apricot, jasmine tea and green apple skins. In the mouth, the wine is silky and svelte, unctuous in its flavor outlay, but taut in the splay of phenolics through the middle and back of the palate. Very smart, again. Matured for 10 months in French oak.

Round and full-weighted. A nicely measured confluence of viscosity, tactile oak vanillin, oatmeal lees and freshness. Slippery length. 

The WIne Enthusiast 92 Points | This premium Viognier, from the winery that has cheered loudest for the variety, opens with flint and almond alongside honeyed orchard fruit aromas. Viognier’s characteristically luscious mouthfeel dominates the palate. The fruit and acidity are quiet, but holding on after a few years of bottle age. A subdued, food friendly and harmonious drop.

Winemaker Description

Israel. The Yarden Merlot Allone Habashan 2016 is the first release from this vineyard. The wine presents a fragrant blend of aromas featuring ripe red and black fruits, flowers, spice, tobacco, orange zest and chocolate.

This attractive single-vineyard wine is full-bodied, flavorful and complex. The wine aged for 18 months in small French oak barrels, of which 70% were new. While ready to enjoy upon release the wine will improve in the bottle over the coming years, and should stay in excellent drinking condition for a decade or more from harvest.

Chardonnay is 25% lower in alcohol compared to [yellow tail] Chardonnay, with 85 calories per 5oz serve. It's full of flavor and silky smooth with a creamy finish. Refreshing and vibrant, with fresh peach and melon flavours and a hint of vanilla. Enjoy with roast chicken or a picnic in the park.

Robert Parker 95 Points | Brilliant aromas of black cherries and cassis jump from the glass, as the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Peak Edcora Vineyard bursts with fruit. All Cabernet Sauvignon, from a site that neighbors Stagecoach Vineyard, this is a medium to full-bodied, densely concentrated example of mountain fruit, yet it's one that is not harsh or tough, with well-ripened tannins and a plush, lingering finish. Bravo. 

Jeb Dunnuck 94+ Points | All varietal, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Peak Edcora Vineyard is another deep purple-hued wine in the lineup with tons to love. Pure cassis, graphite, leafy herbs, and damp earth-like nuances all shine here, and it's medium to full-bodied, with beautiful mid-palate depth, ripe, integrated, yet ample tannins, and a great finish. It offers pleasure today, yet I see no reason this shouldn't evolve for 15+ years if well stored. It's another gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon in the vintage. 

The Wine Independent 97+ Points | Deep garnet-purple in color, the single-varietal 2021 Peak Edcora Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon charges out of the gate with bold notions of creme de cassis, blackberry pie, and boysenberry preserves followed by nuances of dark chocolate, camphor, and black olives. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit and savory layers, supported by firm, ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a lingering minty note.

Boyer-Martenot Bourgogne Aligoté offers aromas of wildflowers, lemon zest, and green apple. On the palate, it is tangy, juicy, and refreshing, with flavors of fresh apricots, pears, and citrus.

Memo Notes

It has been 15 years since Vincent Boyer took the reins from his father and put his stamp on Domaine Yves Boyer-Martenot.  His tenacity in the vineyards and dedication to balance and freshness has led to wines of increased terroir clarity and chiseled Meursault typicity. Located in the heart of Meursault, this 4th-generation property boasts a lineup of remarkable, high-altitude lieux-dits and premiers crus that have few equals in the village.  

Vincent allows only indigenous yeast in the cellar, using little new wood and bottling his whites with low levels of SO2 and minimal to zero filtration. The results recently are crystal pure Chardonnay from some of the best situated holdings in all of Meursault. Vincent’s dedication to old vines and tireless work in the vineyards is clearly evident in his wines, even though his decision to shy away from the limelight has kept these beauties under the radar for years. For those in the know, there is no doubt that is one of the elite estates in all of Burgundy.

With a straw yellow colour, Yzaguirre Blanco Clasico Vermouth has an intense aroma with herby and spicy notes. Mild balsamic touches give it a pleasant and very unique structure. Fresh and smooth in the mouth and very well balanced, it has notes of vanilla and cinnamon.

Excellent as an everyday aperitif. Serve with 2 anchovy-stuffed olives, 2 or 3 ice cubes and a twist of orange. Serve very chilled.

The Yzaguirre Blanco Clásico Vermouth is a well-regarded example of the Spanish style of white vermouth, produced by Bodegas Yzaguirre, a house with a long history in the Catalan region (between Reus and Tarragona) dating back to 1884.

Yzaguirre's vermouths are made using traditional, artisanal methods and a blend of over 80 aromatic herbs and spices that are macerated (soaked) in a white wine base.

Cocktails: It works excellently as the Bianco/Blanc component in various cocktails, often where a sweet, less bitter white vermouth is desired:

• White Negroni (often with Gin, and a bitter like Suze or Luxardo Bitter Bianco).

• Martini variations (as a sweeter alternative to Dry Vermouth).

With a deep yellow color, Yzaguirre Blanco Reserva Vermouth is highly aromatic, velvety and pleasant on the palate, with woody, herby and spicy notes reminiscent of ripe fruit. Its initial flavor is very tasty and balanced, in perfect harmony with its acidity. Twelve months in oak barrels give it consistency and character.

Great as an everyday aperitif or early evening drink. Excellent in a long drink with a few drops of Campari, 3 or 4 ice cubes, a slice of orange, a twist of orange peel and fresh mint leaves. Perfect for use in the kitchen to add another dimension to your dishes.

That is a great choice! The Yzaguirre DRY RESERVA Vermouth WHITE is a distinctive and highly-regarded Spanish vermouth, known for its unique aging process which sets it apart from typical dry vermouths.

The oak aging softens the vermouth and adds complexity that you don't find in stainless-steel-aged dry vermouths, making it excellent for sipping or mixing.

Originating from wild vines, Orangetraube was first selected as a recognized varietal in 1840 and has been a part of the Zahel family's field blends (Gemischter Satz) since the winery began in 1930, but only produced as a monovarietal white since 1954.

Two generations later, Alexander Zahel is the last remaining producer of this unique treasure of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. 

This unique historic variety from Vienna's vineyards is fresh, complex, and edgy, with under ripe stone fruit and zippy acidity. 

Shaped to emphasize the best characteristics of truly fine red wine: density, power, extracts and tannins, brought together to form a whole that is much more than the sum of its parts.The Bordeaux glass is the perfect vehicle for Bordeaux- but also Brunello, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Rioja, Merlot, St. Laurent, Zweigelt, Blaufrankisch, Shiraz, Cabernets (Franc and Sauvignon) and similarly styled red wines.

The height of the glass is 9.1 inches and it is 4.3 inches at its widest part. The volume capacity is 765 ml.

This is the largest glass in the Zalto line, and can actually hold a full bottle of wine, though you would never guess that because despite its size, the glass itself still feels light and agile in your hand. The design was not based on being the largest just for the sake of it- as with the entire line, the angles follow that of the Earth tilt angles of 24, 48 and 72 degrees. 

The size here is to allow for your biggest, most powerful and expressive wines to fully breathe and develop. For the alcohol to integrate with the fruit notes; the acid to balance the tannins (and, when necessary, the oak.)

Use this glass with mighty Cabernets and Chardonnays, the most powerful Nebbiolo, Barbaresco, Barolo and Barberas, and Pinots that lean towards the fruit-bomb style. It is also fascinating to see what an older vintage, more complex white wine will do here, such as a cellared Gruner Veltliner Smaragd or Reserve.
