Winemaker Description 

Elk Cove Pinot Gris is hand-harvested from their estate hillside vineyards in the northern Willamette Valley. The 2024 vintage was a winemaker’s dream: well-paced with idyllic conditions for cool climate vineyards. Expect a concentrated, fruit-forward wine with great complexity.

The Willamette Valley has the perfect climate for this delicate cool weather white wine. Elk Cove has enough sunlight and warmth for ripening, but their cool evenings help retain varietal character and prevent over-ripening. They whole-cluster press their Pinot Gris grapes, then ferment the juice at very cool temperatures in small stainless steel tanks. Zárate Albaríno Val do Salnés — Rías Baixas 2025

Zárate is the benchmark producer of Val do Salnés — the cradle of Albaríno and the most celebrated sub-zone of Rías Baixas. The estate farms 7 hectares across 11 vineyards surrounding the villages of Sisán and Padrenda, with vines averaging 35 years of age planted on granite soils some 50 meters above sea level. Three of those vineyards are planted with ungrafted pre-Phylloxera vines — a rarity anywhere in the world. Since 1994, all plots have been farmed without plowing, with natural ground cover and zero herbicides; since 2006, the estate has held certification for controlled, integrated production. The harvest is purely manual, with grape selection on the vine, gentle whole-bunch pressing, and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel — the wine then rests on its lees for three months to build complexity before bottling. The result is Albaríno as it was meant to be.

Daniel and Jonas' father, Jürgen, always farmed their vines responsibly, but when his children took over, they immediately transitioned to organic viticulture, gaining certification in 2017. The Brothers Brand also utilize biodynamic treatments, always experimenting to discover which practices work best in their vines. All of their wines are made with little, if any, added sulfites. 

Wonderfully aromatic with lively fruit and minerality and a lovely zest and charge on the palate, perfectly balanced by the residual sugar. The Feinherb Riesling has a slight sweetness on the attack, though the sugar melds perfectly into the body, finishing dry and crisp. No fining or filtration and minimal use of sulfur.
