Alison Napjus of the Wine Spectator writes 96 Points  | There's a well-spiced, zesty edge to the flavors of glazed apple, mandarin orange peel, pink grapefruit pith and crème de cassis as they ride the finely detailed mousse of this fresh, focused Champagne. This vivid display is enriched by notes of canelé pastry, chopped almond, pastry cream, smoke and vanilla, all coming to the forefront through the midpalate and chiming on the lasting finish. Drink now through 2035.

Gerard Bertrand Cotes des Roses Chardonnay is an elegant and refined white wine. It showcases aromas of citrus, ripe pineapple, and a hint of toasted almond.

The palate reveals flavors of tropical fruit, lemon zest, and a balanced acidity, with a creamy texture and a long, satisfying finish. This Chardonnay is a perfect match for grilled fish, roasted chicken, or creamy risotto. Winemaker Description.

Straw yellow in color with a green shimmer. The nose has clean and fruity notes of apple, apricot, and pear. Fresh and fruity, Schulthauser Pinot Bianco seduces the palate with its creamy softness, liveliness, and marked acidity.

James Suckling 91 Points | A pretty flavorful pinot bianco here that shows a mineral twist to the dried herbs and white fruit. A tad phenolic on the palate with good intensity and fresh acidity.

Producer Description 

Refreshing persistence, resinous herbal notes on the nose and lovely fresh pear fruit, lime zest, grapefruit pith, and pineapple on the palate. 

The grapes for this basic cuvée of Sancerre are sourced from the vineyards in Bué, Vinon and Crézancy. After harvest, fermentation is done in stainless steel cuves at temperatures between 14 and 18 degrees Celsius. 

As with all the whites at the domaine, this wine sits in contact with the fine lies for a considerable period of time with the racking being done late in the spring following harvest. The first bottling occurs no earlier than July and frequently does not occur until September of the year following harvest.

Producer Description 

Bodega Colome Torrontés offers the floral notes of roses, the citrus aroma of grapefruit and a spicy hint. In the mouth it is fresh, round and well-bodied with a long, elegant finish.

Wine Spectator 90 Points | This version is subtly floral, with hints of geranium and dried rose hip on a smooth-textured palate of mandarin and dried pineapple, with just enough acidity to pick up the flavors and carry them onto the finish around a lingering note of candied lemon peel.

Rand Sieger of 67Wine.com |  A beautiful, mineral driven Gruner with aromas of spiced pear and apple peelings, light white floral notes, and a dusting of citrus zest. The palate is full and complex with bright acidity and a long spiced finish.

Wine Advocate 94 Points | Opaque purple-black colored, the 2020 Gloria comes soaring out of the glass with notes of blackcurrant cordial, preserved plums and blueberry compote, followed by suggestions of powdered cinnamon, cedar chest and menthol, plus a waft of graphite. The medium to full-bodied palate is completely coated with juicy black fruits, framed by grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 11% Petit Verdot, aging for approximately 14 months in French oak barrels, 40% new. The alcohol is 13.3%. (v.2020).

Wine Spectator 93 Points | Youthfully taut and well-structured, with singed apple wood and licorice root notes holding a core of red currant, dark plum and blackberry fruit in check for now. Reveals a nice racy graphite underpinning on the finish. One for the cellar. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2026 through 2038. (v.2020) 

Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points | Just about a perennial must-buy, the 2020 Château Gloria is another terrific vintage for this Saint-Julien château, which always seems to turn out a fabulous wine that sells for a great price. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as impressive aromatics of ripe blackcurrants, plums, camphor, smoked tobacco, and gravelly earth, it's a wine that blossoms with time in the glass. (I followed this bottle for multiple days.) Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has beautifully dddddddpolpolispolishedtannins, outstanding balance, and the more focused style of the vintage. Tasted twice with consistent notes. (v.2020).

Vinous 93 Points | The 2020 Gloria is impressive. Bright and punchy, yet quintessentially medium in body, Gloria impresses for its exceptional balance. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, mint, white pepper and rose petal give this bright, chiseled Saint-Julien so much character. Gloria is such a pretty and inviting Saint-Julien. (Tasted two times.) Since 1993, Overture has been an expression of place across time. In keeping with an internal desire to underscore the importance of the growing season, Opus One has taken the necessary steps for Overture to become a vintage-dated wine. In doing so, Opus One intends to emphasize the diversity of our estate with a renewed focus.

Over the years our winemaker, Michael Silacci, and his team have come to deeply understand the individual blocks within the vineyards. Farming practices may then be adjusted at the block level to enable the vines to fully capture the quality of the estate.  The majority of our vineyards are planted in alluvial soils in the extreme western part of the Oakville, AVA, at the foot of the Mayacamas mountains. 

The fruit is harvested and vinified with the same care, precision, and attention to detail as Opus One. Unique aromatics, flavors, and textures are recognized as ideal for Overture — more red fruit, herbal characteristics, soft tannins, and creamy texture. 

Expert Review - Vintage 2021

Joaquin Hidalgo of Vinous writes 93 Points | The 2021 Monastrell hails from Los Chacayes in the Uco Valley and was all fermented in whole bunches before spending six months in concrete eggs. Garnet-red in hue. The nose presents aromas ranging from chocolate to dried flowers and watermelon to herbs. The palate is dry and grippy. Well-balanced acidity complements the vibrant tannins, resulting in a lean, compact mouthfeel. The 2021 is a long-lasting red for aficionados.  Drinking 2023 to 2031.

Winemaker Notes

A Cava of the traditional method, the grapes for this blush sparkler are sourced from clay and calcareous vineyards. A hand-gathered harvest selects the best of the plots, before pressing and a 12 hour maceration. The wine then ages for 24 months on the lees.

Bright strawberry notes are at the forefront of this energetic sparkler, backed by tropical, citrus aromas. Touches of minerality show through the fine mousse and lead into a bright finish of grapefruit acidity.

The Côtes du Vivarais is an AOC situated on the western side of the Rhône in Ardèche.  This region is renowned for producing wines with high mineral content due to the limestone and clay-rich soils.  Alain Gallety, a pioneering winemaker, founded this domaine with the goal of finding the perfect soil for his wines. He is now a respected figure in the expansive Côtes du Vivarais. The entire range of wines, from the entry-level to the single vineyard cuvées, is exceptional.  Alain Gallety embarked on his viticultural journey with his father in 1974 in an area that was later designated as the Côtes du Vivarais appellation in 1999. Today, Alain and his son David-Alexandre manage the 15-hectare organic domaine.

"We love this Rhône white for its distinct weight with enhanced mineral notes, keeping the wine from being flabby. Citrus and orchard fruit are prominent flavors that make this wine versatile with many dishes."

Distinctly Marlborough, Wither Hills Wairau Valley Sauvignon Blanc is refined and elegant. Mouth-watering, textural acidity and a juicy core of citrus fruit exudes notes of crunchy greens and tropical guava on the nose. Pairs well with plump, raw oysters, pan seared snapper and Asian style seafood dishes, green salad with goats cheese or feta.

Bart Hopkins of 67Wine.com | Classic dark fruited Dolcetto made from 50 year old vines. The bouquet is full of earthy black cherry aromas that carry through the mid-palate. Light to medium bodied yet well structured with a good balance of refreshing acidity and lifted tannins. Round, juicy and succulent, a perfect wine for tomato based dishes, sharp cheeses and vegetarian inspired recipes.

Winemaker Description

The Dolcetto for this wine is sourced from both the Paje and Carso vineyards in Barbaresco, which is part of the Asili hill. Paje is particularly rich in calcareous marl soil with a high content of active limestone. Carso sits next to the fortresses of Barbaresco, facing East, with limestone clay soil and a significant presence of sand. Hand-harvested in September. The vines for this wine have a minimum age of 45 years. Fermented lasts for ten days in large french casks with a pied de cuvee made with indigenous yeasts. Submerged cap maceration then follows for 90-100 days. The wine then ages in neutral french oak botti for approximately one year.

An elegant and refined expression of Pinot Noir with notable bing cherry, plums and mulberry balanced with the Ribbon Ridge earth element.

The bouquet opens with ripe citrus fruits and notes of exotic fruits and peaches, enhanced by a toasted buttery, creamy accent.

On the palate, it offers an exotic richness that confirms the nose's complexity. The texture is supple and generous, concluding with an elegant saline finish.

Blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon  - with a twist -this one sees oak treatment, which is not common in Bordeaux.  The Semillon and oak make this wine big and rich, while the Sauvignon Blanc gives it its crispness.  It's a perfect winter wine!  Bordeaux, France

Wine Enthusiast 91 Points | Aged for seven months in wood, this ripe wine has power as well as richness. Its spicy character chimes with the dense white fruits from old Sémillon. Drink from 2025. (2022).

Bart Hopkins 67Wine.com | A delicious Sauvignon Blanc with an unmistakeable Loire Valley personality. On the nose, beautiful aromas of pink grapefruit, white peaches, ginger snap and peach blossoms. Delicate in the mouth yet harmonious and invigorating  with lovely complexity, freshness and perfectly complimented acidity on the lively finish.

Color is Yellow Gold. Great aromatic intensity of quince and vanilla. Rich, well structured, with quince and stewed fruit flavours. Complexity linked to a good concentration. Very nice length in the mouth.

Eric Guido writes:  Remarkably fresh, the 2022 Etna Bianco wafts up with an herbal-tinged bouquet that blends wet stone and hints of smoke with crushed almonds and pear. Our 2021 Intercept Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of ripe blackberries, red currants, and dried herbs. The wine is full-bodied with flavors of baking spice and plush ripe fruit with a long, fine grained tannin finish. Pair with anything off the BBQ, steaks, braised short ribs, and lamp chops.

This is a richer style of Pinot Blanc, yet still fresh and elegant. Mouthwatering acidity enlivens flavors of citrus, apricot and lemon zest, leading to a stony and floral finish.

This Pinot bursts with fresh cranberry, strawberry and star anise spice on the nose. It is sumptuous on the mid-palate, offset by a balanced acidity and beautifully friable tannins, typical of Pinot from Elgin with its moderate day temperatures and cooler nights.

It will pair well with a wild mushroom risotto.

Sourced from Elgin, and is the first release of a Great Heart Pinot Noir. • The parcel is located at 420 meters above sea level, South-facing. • Decomposed Table Mountain Sandstone soil. • Hand harvested. • Crushed to tank whole-bunch with a cold soak for 3 days. • Fermented with indigenous yeasts with temperatures below 28ºC. • After two weeks, the wine was pressed to older French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation. • Aged for 6 months in 500L French oak.

This beautifully aromatic wine leaps out of the glass with concentrated notes of red currant, boysenberry, cassis, roasted coffee and dark chocolate, along with savory undertones and notions of sweet oak. On the palate it is rich and mouthcoating, with a seamless texture and supple tannins framing luxurious layers of dark berry fruit, barrel spice and fresh herbs.

Dark scarlet red in color, with aromas of blackberry, cherry and boysenberry highlighted with layers of cocoa. A rich and opulent wine offering flavors of marionberry accented by hints of dried fig and choclate covered blueberry this wine is velvety with supple, refined tannins and a silky, lush finish.

Our Professional Review

We first drank this Cote-du-Rhone at one of our favorite local restaurants Manny’s Bistro where I am addicted to the Magret de Canard (duck breast) and Dorothy loves the mussels Marinieres and Provencal. This medium bodied Rhone is fruit forward without being overwhelmed by the fruit, balanced acidity allows it to work with both the duck and the mussels and more it just is quaffable, happily we stroll home (-:

Monte Bernardi Retromarcia Chianti Classico is a deep, ruby red with hints of purple. Intense notes of mountain herbs, aromas of cranberry, wild cherry and red plums, anise, spice, and orange peel. Decanter 91 Points | A lovely vintage for Retromarcia, this smells of place: scents of bergamot and lavender meet fresh herbs and wild red berries. The midweight, buoyant palate is juicy with ripe red cherry and raspberry enfolded in layers of fine, well-structured tannins. A subtle earthiness adds appeal. As with the Sangió, this sees a spontaneous fermentation with native yeast, and is unfiltered and carries low total sulphur (less than 25mg/L). It hails from the estate’s younger vines (less than 20 years old) from varying aspects, elevations and soils. (2021)

Decanter 94 Points | Great depth, starting to really achieve class and depth with generous dashes of chocolate, coffee, mocha. Combines tannic hold with great freshness, an excellent wine; black fruits, bilberry, blackberry, finished off with the fine tannins of smoked oak. A brilliant Marquis de Terme. (2019).

Jeb Dunnuck 91 Points | The 2019 Château Marquis De Terme showed better now than from a bottle tasted earlier this year. Giving up plenty of darker, almost black fruits as well as tobacco, gravelly earth, and spice, it's medium to full-bodied, has a round, fleshy, sexy mouthfeel, quality tannins, and a great finish. (2019).

Wine Spectator 91 Points | Features cherry and black currant puree notes with some inner freshness, while black tea, alder and violet hints form a pretty backdrop. Nice steady finish, too. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now. (2019).

Robert Parker 90+ Points | Aromas of rich black fruits, cherry preserve and pencil shavings introduce the 2019 Marquis de Terme, a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy wine with a broad attack that segues into an ample mid-palate framed by ripe but youthfully assertive tannins. This is a muscular, rather chunky Margaux that will reward a bit of bottle age and which, with time, may make my score seem conservative. This is an evolving estate, as fully 25% of its vineyards have been replanted since 2009. Cabernet on rich soils between Labégorce and Château Margaux represents the core of the blend. Audrey Frick writes:  Another potential wine for a Top 100 list, the 2022 Pinot Noir Select is a jeweled red/ruby color and offers a fantastic bouquet of spicy fresh herbs, pomegranate, peppery spice, and wildflowers. Medium-bodied, it’s energetic and lifted on the palate, with a mouthwatering feel and fine, well-defined tannins. I love its texture, which has a crisp feel with notes of orange peel through the finish. It’s a more angular wine for this vintage, and I love it. The estate has backed off punch downs and is working with more delicate pumpovers instead, and it shows. It’s very pretty and transparent in its feel. Drink 2025-2040.  - Jeb Dunnuck 95

Winemaker Description

This wine is made in accordance with Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions. Organic farming and fermented in a set of Qvevri’s (aka Kvevri’s) designed for fermentation and another set of Qvevri’s designed for aging. Bottled with minimal to no sulfur and no filtering or fining. Result is clean, concentrated and balanced. 6 months on skins. Dry, deep amber, nose of honey, fruit, nuts. Bold depth and slight minerality.

92 Points Natalie Maclean | From the Swartland wine region, Mullineux Great Heart 2021 Chenin Blanc is a dry, vibrant, flavoursome and beautifully balanced Chenin with white-fleshed stone fruit, citrus zest, creamy and leesy on the palate. The wine is named after The Great Heart Project, a staff empowerment project the results and profits of which are aimed at improving the circumstances of the winery's employees and families.
