Winemaker Notes

Aromas of black fruit. Opens with notes of black cherry and boysenberry. The mid palate is layered with notes of black tea, herb and spice. Balanced and concentrated wine with a smooth and lasting finish.

91 Points James Suckling | A fruit-forward, berry-soaked character with dried flowers, cedar and spices. Medium- to full-bodied, bright and succulent with supple tannins. Firm and velvety finish. (2020). 

Winemaker Description

Gamay grown across four hectares of fifty-year-old estate vines mid-slope in Chiroubles. The vineyards face east and are in prime position to soak up the warmth of the morning sun lending ripeness to the vines. Combine this with the cool freshness of altitude and the minerality of poor soils and you have an irresistible combination. Bright red fruits, velvety tannins, and light on the palate. A dream to drink. 

Pale yellow color with hints of green. You get on the nose a touch of oak, lots of finesse and minerality with white flowers, lemon and apple scents. On the mouth, the wine is fresh, round and fruity with aromas of melon, kiwi, peaches and apricot and a nice minerality. Overall, the wine is nicely balanced and fresh with a great length. Pascal Balland cultivates 22 acres of vines around the famed center of Sancerre wine production in the village of Bué in France's Loire Valley. Pascal Balland’s Sancerre wine has all the characteristics you can expect from a Sancerre: lemony, dry, mineral, aromatic, and lively. Pair with fish, shellfish, or cheese such as Chèvre. 93 Points James Suckling | Aromas of apricots and lemon pith, together with floral fragrance of lily-of-the-valley, elderflower and crushed stones. Some raw almond, too. So steady and focused on the palate with crisp, pointy acidity and fresh citrusy character. Bright and mineral with some flinty hints at the end.

92 Points Wine Enthusiast | This is a true Washington wine classic that is also a spectacular value. Gravenstein apple and lemon verbena aromas swirl about your head as notes of river stones and white pepper try to sneak up on you. There’s some body here, with a rich texture and flavors like grilled lemons, Bosc pears and a lemon granita.

With distinctive aromatics of white floral, Meyer lemon, green apple, and wet stone, this dry Chenin is vivid and lively. In the mouth, flavors burst forward with Anjou pear, magnolia, lime, and citrus custard, offset by a remarkable note of salinity. The wine is snappy and interesting, carrying through to a flavorful and vibrant mouth-watering finish. Winemaker Description. 

93 Points Robert Parker | The Bruno Giacosa 2021 Roero Arneis is an especially luminous and fresh white wine that is packed with tropical fruits and floral notes. There is great freshness, and the wine reveals an elegant mineral signature.

Intense straw colored with greenish glints. The nose presents lemon, pineapple, peach and apricot notes with floral hints. On the palate, it is fresh, full-bodied, with mineral notes and a persistent finish. Winemaker Description. 

This fun Spanish wine project is the brainchild of four friends who share a similar philosophy on viticulture and winemaking. This affordable 'Tinto' hails from the Sierra de Gredos region of Spain and is dominated by Grenache. 

About 50% of whole bunches are used, which add texture and weight to this easy-drinking wine. Notes of red fruit, pepper, and earth make this wine perfect for sipping chilled alongside charcuterie boards.

92 Points James Suckling | Very bright with a purple edge to the color. Lots of dark cherries, violet and licorice that extend to a fleshy, medium-bodied palate. I love the crunch and the succulence here. An excellent Barbera d’Alba that can be enjoyed in the next five years. Drink or hold. (2021).

91 Points Wine Enthusiast | This is a fun and exciting wine with deep red fruit of cherry and raspberry. The fruits are complimented by violets and rhubarb with loads of sweet and savory spices. The palate is bright and pops with tart “Frutti di Bosco” (translated to wild fruits of the forest) with fine tannins and good structure. Vineyard Brands.

90 Points Wine Spectator | A linear, compact red marked by a mix of violet, blackberry and boysenberry aromas and flavors. Bolstered by vivid acidity, this glides to a long, intense aftertaste. 

Winemaker Descrption

Deep purplish, almost impenetrable red. Elegant, sweet, and tempting, the intense and fruity notes characteristic of Barbera emerge. Vinous, fresh, and well-balanced. An easy to drink wine which is tasty and rich without being excessively heavy.

Perfect with Langhe cuisine and very tasty dishes in general. Excellent with pasts, rice, and soup, braised or grilled red meats, and medium mature cheeses. It is also perfect for aperitifs, with appetizers and sliced meats. Winemaker Description. 

94 Points James Suckling | Gorgeous floral character to the crushed stone and purple fruit. Lavender and sage, too. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and a savory yet crunchy finish. Dark mushroom and fresh earth. Super length and brightness for this wine.

92 Points Wine Enthusiast | Aromas of cassis, dark chocolate and leather set the stage for blackberry, cocoa powder, caramel, violet, orange zest and sage leaf flavors. Plush tannins coat the tongue and gums and drift off into a milk chocolate and cherry finish. This fresh wine from Toro is a nice example of a Tinta de Toro, the local name for Tempranillo, that does not break the bank.

91 Points Wine Spectator, Alison Napjus writes: Ripe and fruit-forward on the nose, though more restrained on the palate, this red offers flavors of blackberry paste, dried blueberry and cranberry fruit woven through dried sage, marjoram, warmed spices and cocoa powder, backed by rich notes of fresh earth and iron. There's a creamy nappe to the texture, while fine tannins firm up the supple finish.

90 Points Robert Parker | The 2020 Termes, the entry-level red, has 15.65% alcohol and a pH of 3.9 with 4.2 grams of acidity. The grapes from their younger vines, which have higher yields and keep more acidity, fermented with selected yeasts and 20 days of maceration and matured in 225- and 400-liter French oak barrels, 20% of them new, for 14 months with rackings every four months. It's creamy and spicy, round and soft, with fine-grained tannins and integrated oak (nearly 50% of the élevage was in 400-liter oak barrels), and it's rich but with the alcohol nicely integrated. This has a more commercial profile, more approachable than its siblings.

91 VINOUS, Joaquin Hidalgo writes:  The 2020 Termes, aged 14 months in French oak (20% new, half 400 liters). A dark garnet red in hue. The nose features violets and cherry notes along with a cedar undertone layer. Rich and taut on the palate, the tannins are softened by the calibrated acidity, releasing the sun's energy into a lasting, flavorful finish. The 2020 is a mellow Toro.  Drinking 2025 to 2045.  - Vinous 91

Termes is the vibrant expression of Toro, a symbol of its youthful spirit. It stands out from what Toro wines used to be, for its vigor, freshness and vivacity. Powerful yet balanced, vibrant yet complex, it is perfect to drink young. Winemaker Descriptiion. 

This delicately hued rosé embodies true coastal character with its freshness, vibrancy and marine minerality. Lifted aromas of wild strawberry and rose petal give way to a trio of fresh, sweet and candied ruby grapefruit, underscored with a layer of wet stone minerality.

A welcoming and supple entry reveals hallmark flavors of red grapefruit and a hint of vine-ripened watermelon which echo the wine's charmingly complex aromatics. The palate is taut, neatly framing a latticework of texture and acidity that supports a persistent and mouth-watering finish.

Perfect for Picnic, Central Park, Beach, Pool!

50% Syrah, 50% Carignan. This delightful salmon-pink wine is produced via direct press, imparting a delicate, pale but vivid pink color. Fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. Aromatics of strawberries and crushed red fruit leap from the glass. In the mouth, it is fresh with excellent acidity, some mineral components and good length. Very food friendly, it is a great companion to just about anything you want to throw at it.

100% Pinot Noir. The only kosher Pinot from Willamette Valley! Cherry on the nose, with flavors of blackberries, dried herbs and roasted coffee beans. Aged 12 months in neutral Oak barrels.

92 Points James Suckling | A generous and fruity malbec with lots of ripe black cherries, strawberries, blackberries and spices. Hints of graphite and violet, too. Round and juicy on the medium- to full-bodied palate with firm and lightly chewy tannins.

Winemaker Description

A Malbec of an intense bright red color with purple hues. On the nose, enticing aromas of dark fruits and spices come out, laced with the most enthralling mineral nuances.

It is solid and robust on the palate, revealing plenty of concentration, a defined character and smoothness. Its soft tannins create a pleasant texture, while its crisp acidity, personality and balance all lead seamlessly to a long and complex finish. Winemaker Description.

Domaine Octavie Touraine is an authentic and expressive Loire Valley Sauvignon. Citrus fruits combine with white flowers, while aromas of gunstone give it relief. On the palate, it is a soft and fresh wine. The attack is frank and chiselled, well balanced. Notes of white peach. Winemaker Description. 

Pale yellow color with hints of gold and green. Powerful notes of minerality and yellow fruits. Rounded and rich with a good structure and lengthy finish.

Rich and beautifully focused from top to bottom. Deep, and vibrant red fruits and baking spices aromas inform the palate which is supple, serious, and wonderfully fresh. Although charming now, it will continue to improve over several years.

Decanter 95 Points | Deliciously savoury and herbaceous, this Cabernet from the iconic Montelena Estate is a welcome throwback. Wild anise, turned earth, and wild lavender flowers announce the aromatics, followed closely by dusty red berries. The palate is fresh and lively with savoury dill and bay leaf notes and a tremendous chalky texture that envelopes a core of bright, concentrated berries. Perfectly tart blackberries, smoky clove, and white pepper provide brightness and spice. This delicious Cabernet's finish is marked by eucalyptus and mint.

91 Points Robert Parker | The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley includes 9% Merlot from a vineyard in Oak Knoll and spent 16 months in 28% new French oak, with a bit of Hungarian as well. It offers up textbook notes of cherries and redcurrants, plus a hint of vanilla, all in an easy-drinking, medium to full-bodied format. The tannins are silky, and the acids are tart in this moderately concentrated effort that should provide enjoyable drinking over the next 10 years or so. Best After 2023.

90 Points Wine Spectator | Solidly built, showing an array of singed vanilla and cocoa along the edges, with a core of steeped plum and blackberry compote flavors. The slightly chewy finish is scored by tar and savory accents, giving this a bit of an old-school bent in the end. Best from 2023.

Winemaker Notes

Pure and powerful, this wine opens with fresh blueberries, blackberry pie and cassis. The endless dark fruit is complemented by a range of baking spices: vanilla at first, but also clove and cinnamon. The first sip instantly reveals the character of this Cabernet: dense and chewy with bright red fruit, incredible tension and pure, fine grain tannins. Not only is everything in its place; but the layers of flavor, the depth of the fruit and the sublime texture are constantly rearranging. Each glass will be a unique experience. In contrast to the dynamic palate, the finish is focused and stout. Abundant cocoa, espresso bean and black pepper dovetail into dark, black fruit while tart raspberry and strawberry jam linger.

Oscar Garcia Moncada - Lead Wine Sommelier 67Wine.com | Felipe Tosso crafts a solid expression of what Carmenere should be: Focus nose of roasted red bell peppers, black olives and smoked game meat. On the palate ripe flavors of blackberries, cassis and plum combine with medium acidity. Very complete and satisfying finish. Pair with a "Lomo Salteado" peruvian style seared beef tenderloin with onions and peppers.

Roger Voss of Wine Enthusiast writes 92 Points | A fine, ripe, juicy wine with balanced tannins, this is rich in Merlot and fine spice. The wine's structure and its solid texture show fine potential. Drink this concentrated wine from 2025.

Winemaker Description 

The nose reveals scents of garrigue and licorice, the palate is on raspberries and cherries with its lingering and peppery finish. 

Wine Description 

Hand-harvested and mainly destemmed but with the berries left whole. They are fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and without sulfur in concrete tanks. Maceration lasts around 12 days and there are no extractive techniques, only a submerged cap or cappello sommerso. The wine is aged partly in 15-hectoliter foudres and partly in concrete for up to one and half years. It is bottled with a small amount of sulfur and without fining or filtering and is released in the late spring two years after the vintage.

Antonio Galloni of Vinous writes 93 Points | The 2020 Chianti Classico is fabulous. Bright, floral and effusive, the 2020 is striking right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, mint, spice and blood orange all race out of the glass. A wine of vibrancy and nuance, impresses with its exceptional beauty and overall harmony. It's an absolutely stellar wine from Montesecondo.  Drinking 2022 -2030.

Walter Speller of Jancis Robinson writes 17.5 Points | Lustrous crimson. At first subdued then opens up to crushed raspberries with savoury hints. Vibrant fruit with lots of acidity but really filled out across the palate. Long and with lots of crunch.   San Casciano. 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo, 5% Colorino. Certified organic.  Drinking 2022 - 2028.

Monica Larner of the Wine Advocate writes 91 Points | The Montesecondo 2020 Chianti Classico is redolent of bright cherry and wild blueberry. It presents those pretty fruit tones with attractive intensity. This blend of 90% Sangiovese with Canaiolo and Colorino feels sweet and soft, but the ripeness is spot-on with no jammy sensations or heaviness. That contained quality of fruit, even in a hot vintage such as this, is one of the ace cards in Chianti Classico's hand. Aged in oak and cement, the wine ends with tart cherry and lasting freshness.  Drinking 2022 -2028. 

Michaela Morris of Decanter writes 92 Points | Montesecondo crafts just one Chianti Classico from two parcels in San Casciano. It ferments spontaneously, sees minimal sulphur additions and is aged in a combination of cement vats and medium-sized used oak casks. The 2020 starts discreetly, with forest brush and mint adding dimension to red currant and black raspberry. This is more savoury than sweet though, and it's the powdery, textured palate that really captivates. Fresh and tangy with nuances of orange peel, this sneaky wine isn't flamboyant but is very tasty.

Antonio Galloni of Vinous 91-93 Points writes | The 2019 Cantemerle is fabulous. Deep, inky and super expressive, Cantemerle is a real standout in 2019. Dark red and purplish berry fruit, grilled herbs, rose petal, spice, sweet pipe tobacco and mint are some of the many notes that develop here with a bit of coaxing. More than anything else, it is the wine's extraordinary balance and sense of harmony that stand out here. Don't miss this! Drinking 2024 - 2050. 

Jeb Dunnuck 91 Points | An incredibly consistent estate that always delivers a quality wine, the 2019 Château Cantemerle checks in as 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Classic Médoc notes of red and black currants, cedar pencil, sappy herbs, and tobacco give way to a medium-bodied 2019 with terrific balance, ripe, polished tannins, good acidity, and outstanding length. This terrific wine will benefit from just short-term cellaring and keep for 15+ in cold cellars. Drinking 2023 - 2039.

James Molesworth of the Wine Spectator 90 Points writes: Very direct in feel, offering plum and cherry puree notes gilded with violet and anise hints. Shows a graphite accent on the finish, which adds depth as the fruit blossoms around it. Solid. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2030.

Neal Martin of Vinous 93 Points writes: The 2019 Cantemerle has a fruit-driven bouquet with opulent blackberry and blueberry fruit, certainly one of the most floral in the flight with pressed violets developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins, fleshy and rounded, though I am looking for more tension and precision on the finish. This is a really fabulous Cantemerle that surely represents outstanding value. No excuse not to have this in your cellar. Drinking 2025 -2050.

William Kelley of the Wine Advocate 92 Points writes | Opening in the glass with notions of rich berry fruit, licorice, cedar, violets and loamy soil, the 2019 Cantemerle is medium to full-bodied, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and powdery tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish. This shut down a little after bottling (some 11 months ago at the time of writing), but it is beginning to bounce back to reveal a wine of real charm and character. Drinking 2025 - 2045

Georgina Hindle of Decanter 94 Points writes: Green pepper and herbaceous notes on the nose with minty eucalyptus alongside ripe cherry and blackcurrant aromas - so classic. A lovely mouthfeel here, smooth, well defined and preise. Quite direct, serious and darkly fruited - such a concentrated core - but with smooth tannins, a soft sweetness and freshness that lifts the overall frame. Balanced with succulence. Makes a lasting impact and impression. A great value pick. Drinking 2025 - 2045.

Jane Anson 92 Points writes |  Plenty of smoked cedar oak on the opening beats, this is full-throated in its extraction but comes across as confident rather than too much, and as it softens the damson and black cherry fruits are attractive. 40% new oak. Drinking 2026 - 2040.

Very intense cherry color with purple tones. On the nose it shows a great concentration of aromas of ripe red fruits with floral nuances. On the palate it is a rich and well-structured wine that evokes flavors of blackberry, plum and tones of leather and vanilla, with sweet tannins.

Intense and medium-bodied with velvety tannins that round the juicy berries and flowers on the palate. There’s a coffee-candy note in the finish that will need another year to integrate better. Yet, it’s very drinkable even now. (2020).

Winemaker Description 

A classic Felton Road nose of dark blossoms: rose and violet with a compote of dark fruits. The mid-palate is just screaming Felton Road. Black cherries and cream on the nose introduced cherry crumble on the palate with baked spices. Very harmonious for a wine so young, but a brooding undertow reveals the intrinsic power of the wine. Four Bannockburn vineyards seamlessly integrating to provide many layers and textures.

James Suckling 93 Points | Very attractive hibiscus with sliced strawberries and orange peel aromas that follow through to a medium body with very fine tannins and a fresh and clean wine. Tangy and succulent fruit. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold. Screw cap. (2021). 

Jancis Robinson 16.5/20 Points |  Earthy and interesting on the nose. Already open and sweet but with good structure. Great for current drinking, with real interest and freshness. At the moment I prefer this to Block 3. (2021). 

Vinous 91 Points |  The 2021 Pinot Noir Bannockburn offers fine tension and sinew. I rather like it for being understated and having a corset of acidity and tannic tension around it. Sour red cherry, damson, wild herbs, a twist of nutmeg and it's all rather pleasing. Long, scented and excellent value with praiseworthy tannin quality. (2021). 

Decanter 92 Points | A hint of smokiness and toast appears first, still with the echo of slight reduction. The fine web of tannins on the palate holds oak as well as surprisingly dark fruit. Very juicy, fruity and bold, this is Felton Road's estate Pinot Noir, with just 25% new oak. Drinking 2022 - 2032  (2021).
