Casisano · Brunello di Montalcino DOCG · 2020
Tommasi Casisano Brunello di Montalcino 2020 is an elegant, structured Tuscan red that combines concentrated Sangiovese fruit with refreshing acidity and fine-grained tannins. Produced at the historic Casisano estate, part of Tommasi Family Estates since 2015, it brings traditional winemaking together with Montalcino’s distinctive terroir.
Set in the southeastern hills of Montalcino at approximately 480 meters above sea level, Casisano is surrounded by ancient woodlands. Cooling breezes and pronounced day-to-night temperature variations encourage aromatic complexity while preserving freshness. The carefully tended vineyards enjoy southeastern exposure and stony soils rich in galestro, a distinctive schistous clay.
Winemaking & Vintage
Crafted from 100% Sangiovese Grosso, the wine undergoes traditional fermentation with approximately 25 days of skin maceration. Three years in large Slavonian oak casks and a minimum of six months in bottle develop complexity, elegance and refined tannic structure without overwhelming the natural fruit.
The 2020 vintage combines approachability with aging potential. Its vibrant structure and elegant fruit make it enjoyable with decanting, while firm tannins and balanced acidity support further cellar development. Under proper storage conditions, the listing’s cellaring guidance extends through approximately 2040.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red with subtle garnet reflections, the wine opens with ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, redcurrants, rose and violet. Blood orange, dried herbs, tobacco, leather, earthy minerals and subtle spice add aromatic depth.
The balanced, medium- to full-bodied palate reveals concentrated red fruit supported by refreshing acidity and fine-grained tannins. Cherry, raspberry, licorice, black pepper and savory herbs unfold into a long, mineral-driven finish with freshness and persistence.
