Classic blackberry, sagebrush, and loamy earth with tobacco influences. Medium- to full-bodied with precise, superfine tannins and layers of cherry, blackberry, graphite, and perfumed violets. Notably gentle and approachable — an excellent candidate for early drinking.
James Suckling 92 Points: Cool and slightly restrained, with an elegant spin on dark fruit. Black cherries, blueberries, cocoa, graphite, tobacco, and iron. Full-bodied but not heavy.
The Wine Advocate 90 Points: Reasonably floral and fresh on the nose, with hints of violets alongside cherries and redcurrants. Full-bodied and round, supple and easy-drinking with a polished finish.
Winemaker Description
Artemis — named after the Greek goddess of the hunt — is the culmination of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars’ search for the finest Napa Valley fruit. A blend of estate-grown and select regional grapes, it expresses the regional character of Napa Valley with the signature elegance of the house. The nose reveals rich aromas of dark fruits, tobacco, ripe figs, raspberries, and cherry compote with a subtle hint of oak. On the palate, a silky mouthfeel leads into a long, savory finish of milk chocolate, dark cherry, and boysenberry.
