94 pts — The Tasting Panel: “Startlingly focused Chardonnay — luscious pear crème, honeysuckle, and toasted brioche. Lemon meringue on the mid-palate, with ripe pineapple and a pinch of salty stone on the finish.” — Meridith May, September 2024
93 pts — James Suckling: “Pure and precise aromas of lemon zest, flint and orange blossoms. Medium-bodied with tightly wound acidity supported by a creamy texture — lime curd, almond meal and grapefruit. Citrus-driven with nicely integrated, underlying power.” — January 2025
93 pts — Wine Enthusiast: “White melon, crisp nectarine and apple slice aromas cut by sea salt. A sharper, crystalline focus on the palate where citrus edges cut into warmer cantaloupe and tropical touches, with lively acidity throughout.” — Matt Kettmann, December 2024
90 pts — Vinous: “Ample and lively — golden apple, nectarine and savory herbs. A nicely measured inner sweetness makes this approachable and easy to like. The 25% new oak is skillfully integrated, adding a spicy kick through the focused finish.” — Billy Norris, August 2024
Winemaker Notes
With each vintage of Highland Chardonnay, Morgan showcases the unique attributes of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. The 2023 cuée includes 50% fruit from their certified organic Double L estate, with the balance from outstanding neighbors including McIntyre and Tondré vineyards.
Grapes were hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard. Whole-cluster pressing preserved fresh fruit flavors and acidity. Barrel fermentation in 25% new French oak with native and cultured yeasts, followed by malolactic conversion for silky richness and medium body.

Expert Reviews - Prior Vintage 2022
Vinous 90 Points | The 2022 Chardonnay Highland is a classy, elegant wine. Ripe pear, apricot, yellow flowers, chamomile, spice and tangerine peel open nicely. The 2022 balances fruit intensity with brightness quite well. Soft contours wrap it all up in style.
96 Points Wine Enthusiast | Very clean and round aromas of melon, white peach and orange blossom draw the nose into this bottling. The texture is chalky and the palate is quite savory with salt tones that decorate the baked nectarine and apple flavors.
