Tim Atkin 91 Points | Gramona’s ‘Aliances’ is a group of 13 biodynamically-certified growers covered 450 hectares in the Alt Penedès who contribute to this bottling of 50% Xarel-lo, 30% Macabeo and 20% Parellada. It’s model fare, bright with pine honey, rosemary, sweet grapefruit and pear, the palate juicy with satsuma up front before treading lightly with intensity but never grip or angularity. With a flowing, grapefruit mousse and light, balanced dosage of 4.5g it’s a typically polished entry for Gramona.

Round entrance, medium enveloping body, crispy carbonic texture. In the retronasal route citrus memories return, the apple, the almond. Very refreshing and long nish.
Perfect as an appetizer that can be extended to the rest of the meal. Gastronomic and versatile.
Based on careful observation and the management of the factors which influence our terroir and its habitat. We do not apply chemical herbicides or pesticides, but instead we use natural resources, with the primary aim of maintaining a balance in the environment, and we preserve spontaneous ground cover in order to obtain spongy soils.
Through biodynamics, which goes one step beyond organic growing, we breathe life into our vineyards and seek to raise levels of biodiversity: we preserve spontaneous ground cover in order to obtain spongy soils, we apply plant-based infusions and decoctions to avoid pest infestations, and we produce our own animal and vegetal compost from our orchard of medicinal plants and our farm of cows, sheep, chickens, and horses.
On the nose, with a medium intensity, it presents elegant floral notes accompanied by aromas of stone fruit, such as peach and apricot. We also smell golden apple, lemon peel and pineapple. Aromas of breadcrumbs, almonds and some balsamic notes of fennel and laurel are present. On the palate, it offers a friendly, medium-bodied entry that embraces the senses, with an invigorating carbonation with a crisp, crunchy texture. Citrus, apple and almond aromas return on the after taste
