Producer & Terroir
La Bicicleta Voladora is Germán Blanco's project in Rioja Baja, made with fellow oenologist Javier Collio. Fruit comes from certified organic vineyards in the Navarra part of the Rioja appellation, where dry-farmed vines grow in clay and limestone soils. The winemaker's account gives an average vine age of thirty-five years, while Oscar's review describes vines aged 20–35 years.
Winemaking
Following the Milú philosophy of “happy wines made from happy grapes,” the grapes are destemmed and fermented at low temperature with native yeasts. A slight maceration before fermentation finishes helps create a delicate, fresh style. The wine spends five to six months in concrete tanks, with no oak, and is unfiltered but lightly clarified.
