Elouan Pinot Noir — Oregon 2023
Elouan is the Oregon project of Joseph Wagner — the Caymus winemaker who headed north to one of the world’s great Pinot Noir regions with a clear vision: depth of flavor, vibrancy, and suppleness. Sourcing from across Oregon’s diverse appellations, Wagner crafts a Pinot that is fuller-bodied and more expressive than the typical delicate style, layering dark fruit with spice, earth, and a supple, polished structure. The Tasting Panel awarded it 93 points.
The nose is a cornucopia: spiced plums, dark berries, violets, cloves, wildflowers, and exotic herbs. On the palate, it is robust and expansive — dark cherry, black raspberry, coffee, and hibiscus with baking spice and cocoa, carried by vibrant acidity and soft, supple tannins through an exotic finish of cherry bark and red tea.
🇺🇸 Tasting Panel 93 — “Iron and ash form an earthy partnership in this most expressive vintage. Deep and seductive, with notes of coffee, black raspberry, and hibiscus leading to an exotic finish of cherry bark and red tea.”
🇺🇸 67Wine Buyer’s Pick — Bart Hopkins: “A cornucopia of aromas swirl from the glass, unmistakably Oregonian, with enticing layers of spiced plums, dark berries, violets, cloves, wildflowers and exotic herbs.
