The Wine Advocate 91 Points | The Domaine Sigalas 2022 Mavrotragano Mandilaria M? is a 50-50 blend of both these red grapes cultivated on the island of Santorini. The wine ages in large oak casks for one year and reveals punchy flavors of cherry, cassis, grilled watermelon and apple cider. The tannins are bitter, and it might help to serve this wine one or two degrees cooler than normal to make it more accessible. It is inherently food-friendly, especially with cheese-heavy dishes like lasagna or pizza.

Prior Vintages:
Wine Advocate 90 Points | The 2020 Mm is an equal blend of Mandilaria and Mavrotragano aged for 12 months in used French oak. It comes in at 12.9% alcohol. On all fronts, this on paper looks a bit different than the last I saw, but it's just as good. The result is a fresh and approachable wine with bold red-fruit flavors and a bright demeanor. Many will find it ridiculously delicious, but the core of acidity, ripe tannins and the fresh demeanor combine to make it just a little serious too. This can be drunk now, but it might be better in the middle of 2023. In the meanwhile, let's lean up and hope it develops along the lines it should. It's never going to be the most profound red, but it has a shot at becoming a sentimental favorite. The nice price point is a cherry on top.
