Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Pucelles 2023 is a magnificent expression of white Burgundy, showcasing the remarkable elegance, precision, and complexity that have established Domaine Leflaive among the world's most celebrated Chardonnay producers.
Situated in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy's prestigious Côte de Beaune, Les Pucelles is one of the village's most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards. Located immediately below the legendary Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, this exceptional site benefits from limestone-rich soils that contribute to its distinctive minerality, finesse, and remarkable aging potential.
Farmed according to Domaine Leflaive's biodynamic principles, the vineyard produces Chardonnay of extraordinary purity and concentration. The outstanding 2023 vintage offers an expressive bouquet of honeysuckle, orange blossom, acacia flowers, ripe peach, and fresh citrus, complemented by delicate notes of toasted hazelnuts, warm spice, and crushed limestone.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully layered and generously textured, revealing concentrated orchard fruit, lemon oil, subtle floral nuances, and a refined mineral backbone. Vibrant acidity provides freshness and definition, balancing the wine's impressive richness and silky mouthfeel.
The finish is exceptionally long and harmonious, with lingering citrus, delicate spice, and subtle saline notes. Combining the concentration of a great white Burgundy with remarkable elegance and precision, Domaine Leflaive Les Pucelles 2023 is a distinguished Premier Cru with exceptional aging potential.
Expert Ratings
92–95 Points — Burghound
A completely different aromatic profile is comprised by notes of honeysuckle, orange peel, carnation, acacia blossom and a plethora of spice nuances. The delicious, generously proportioned and relatively forward medium-bodied flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract before culminating in a wonderfully complex, balanced, clean and nicely dry finish that possess first-rate persistence. This is also very classy and a wine that is sufficiently pliant that it could be enjoyed young if desired.
Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, June 2025. Drink starting 2033.
97 Points — Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
A glistening lime and lemon colour. The quality of the vineyard over-rules any conception of the vintage. Startlingly fine, crystalline with an intensity of the purest white fruit, manages to remain discreet as well, electric at the finish. A thoroughly classic Pucelles.
Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, November 2025. Five-Star Wine. Drink 2030–2040.
95 Points — Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles has turned out beautifully, unfurling to reveal aromas of peach, orange blossom, toasted nuts and iodine. Full-bodied, ample and textural, it's fleshy and layered, with a seamless, enveloping profile girdled by bright acids. It will offer a broad drinking window.
William Kelley, Wine Advocate, February 2026. Drink 2027–2045.
96 Points — Wine Spectator
There’s density in the form of concentration and texture, supporting flavors of butterscotch, lemon oil, citronella and peach, with an underlying spiciness. Powerful now, yet judging from the long finish, this will gain finesse with time.
Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, November 2025. Best from 2027 through 2035.
