Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 2023 represents the pinnacle of white Burgundy, showcasing the extraordinary elegance, precision, and complexity that have made Domaine Leflaive one of the world's most celebrated Chardonnay producers.
Produced from biodynamically cultivated vineyards in the prestigious Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru appellation of Puligny-Montrachet, this exceptional wine reflects the distinctive limestone-rich soils and elevated vineyard position that contribute to its remarkable minerality and finesse.
The 2023 vintage reveals an exquisite aromatic bouquet of white flowers, fresh orchard fruits, lemon zest, ripe peach, and delicate honey, complemented by toasted hazelnuts and crushed limestone. On the palate, the wine is beautifully concentrated yet remarkably refined, offering a silky texture, vibrant acidity, and layers of citrus, stone fruit, and subtle spice.
Its impressive depth is balanced by extraordinary freshness and mineral tension, culminating in a long, elegant finish with lingering chalky and saline nuances.
A magnificent expression of Chevalier-Montrachet, this Grand Cru combines power with exceptional delicacy and promises decades of graceful evolution in the cellar.
Expert Ratings
97 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Leflaive's 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is a great success, unwinding in the glass with a nuanced bouquet of white flowers, crisp orchard fruit, clear honey, toasted hazelnuts and wet stones. Full-bodied, satiny and suave, it's pure and racy, with compelling mid-palate amplitude, beautiful textural refinement and a long, chalky finish. Its ethereal, elegant style makes it a study in contrasts with the muscular, powerful Bâtard.
97 Wine Spectator: Peach, pineapple, lemon oil, citronella, lime blossom, hazelnut, white pepper and oyster shell aromas and flavors are among the complex details in this intense white. Tightens up while building to the superlong aftertaste, all the while remaining elegant and classy. Shows impressive harmony and length.
96 Vinous: The 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a tightly wound bouquet despite my giving it five to ten minutes to open up. With hints of sunflower seed and crushed limestone, this is a real clenched fist aromatically. The palate is very well balanced with intense yellow and white fruit, less minerally than the Bâtard perhaps with just a hint of wild honey on the finish. It is a lovely wine…but could this be a year where Bâtard takes the glory?

An outstanding companion to lobster, seared scallops, turbot, Dover sole, roasted poultry, and delicate cream-based dishes. Its mineral intensity and refined structure also complement truffle preparations and aged Comté cheese.
