About the Winery
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy's most historic and distinguished family-owned wine producers.
For seven generations, the Faiveley family has cultivated and sourced exceptional wines from Burgundy's finest terroirs, earning an international reputation for precision, quality and authentic regional expression.
Today, seventh-generation Erwan Faiveley guides the estate alongside Technical Director and winemaker Jérôme Flous. Together, they combine traditional Burgundian techniques with meticulous vineyard management and modern winemaking precision.
Domaine Faiveley's wines are celebrated for their balance, elegance and ability to reveal the distinctive character of individual Burgundy appellations.
The Vineyard & Terroir – Vosne-Romanée
Located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée is considered one of the world's most prestigious villages for Pinot Noir.
The appellation is home to legendary Grand Cru vineyards, including Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, which have helped establish Vosne-Romanée's extraordinary reputation.
The village's winemaking heritage stretches back centuries. Originally associated with the Priory of Saint-Vivant during the ninth century, the commune adopted the name Vosne-Romanée in 1866 in recognition of its famous Romanée vineyard.
For this village-level bottling, Domaine Faiveley directly manages the vineyard work, maintaining the same strict standards applied to its estate-owned parcels.
The vineyards benefit from favorable eastern exposure and classic limestone and clay-marl soils. These conditions encourage balanced ripening, aromatic complexity and the development of Pinot Noir with a distinctive combination of elegance, structure and silky texture.
The resulting wine expresses the celebrated personality of Vosne-Romanée: refined fruit, beautiful harmony and exceptional finesse.
The 2024 Vintage
The 2024 vintage was a challenging growing season throughout Burgundy, marked by persistent rainfall, cool conditions and significant disease pressure.
Spring and summer required extraordinary attention in the vineyards, while careful fruit selection and harvest timing were essential to achieving balanced ripeness and preserving quality.
The vintage generally favors elegant, fresh and aromatic expressions of Pinot Noir rather than excessive richness or concentration.
Domaine Faiveley's meticulous vineyard management and traditional winemaking approach aim to preserve the purity of the fruit and the refined character of Vosne-Romanée, emphasizing freshness, subtle complexity and beautifully balanced tannins.
Winemaking & Aging
Domaine Faiveley produces its Vosne-Romanée using traditional Burgundian red-wine techniques, emphasizing gentle extraction and the preservation of Pinot Noir's delicate aromatic character.
The wine is aged for approximately 14–16 months in French oak barrels, with around one-third new oak.
This carefully measured oak maturation adds structure, complexity and subtle spice while allowing the vineyard's fruit and terroir to remain at the forefront.
The finished wine offers supple texture, refined tannins and an elegant balance between fresh fruit and understated oak influence.
Food Pairings
A sophisticated and wonderfully food-friendly Burgundy, ideally paired with roasted duck breast, filet mignon, herb-roasted chicken, veal tenderloin, roasted guinea fowl, wild mushroom risotto, pork tenderloin and delicate game dishes.
Its elegant tannins and refreshing acidity also make it a beautiful companion to truffle preparations, mushroom sauces and aged French cheeses.
Suggested Serving Temperature: 57–61°F (14–16°C).
Serving Recommendation: Enjoy in a generous Burgundy glass to allow its delicate aromatics to develop. A short period of aeration may benefit the wine when young.
